Hitman 3 will be the ultimate destination for assassination when it releases in January 2021 on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as developer IO Interactive will allow you to transfer all your purchases from Hitman and Hitman 2 into the new game. This will result in a potential pool of 20 plus levels, and any unlocks you earn in the latest locations will be playable in the old stages as well.
Even more exciting is that if you’re already busy beavering away in Hitman 2, then your progress will transfer to the new game, meaning you won’t have to unlock those sniper rifles and gadgets all over again. “This is something that players have been asking for and we’re delighted to confirm,” the developer wrote on its official website.
“Hitman 3 will act as a platform for the entire trilogy, and we are excited to finally realise a vision that we had five years ago: to create a game world that would continually grow and expand over time,” the studio said. “In the coming months, we’ll share precise details about how location and progression carryover will work.”
It’s also worth mentioning that the Danish developer will be self-publishing this game, meaning no bothersome publisher interference. “It feels like a natural step for Hitman 3, as the final game in this trilogy, to come directly from us to our players,” it continued. “We feel ready for the challenge and look forward to embracing the journey, together with our players and community.”

This will be a day one buy to support these guys!
2+2=4
So hyped for this.
I've literally just started playing Hitman 2 and its bloody amazing so this is fantastic news
Really excited for this, can't wait to see how they're going to utilise the new hardware!
3+3=6
Absolutely brilliant. Really love the first two reboots so it’ll be interesting to see what they do with the new console.
Wonderful stuff. I really enjoyed the levels from both Hitman 1 and 2.
I'm absolutely getting this game. This first two iterations are incredible, so I can't wait for this one.
Brilliant news, although I personally wouldn't have minded having to redo all the challenges again. But that's just me, perhaps.
The one thing I really want them to confirm is if this one will have a platinum trophy or not. I know it sounds silly but after 100% the "first" Hitman and 98% the sequel (I only need the co-op sniper trophies), I would really have loved a shiny platinum at the end of them.
I have been meaning to play the last two games, but if I can just jump in here, that's great (Same with Destiny having the first game's content being brought back). I assume I'll have to pay some fee due to not owning the previous outings, but that's fine.
Really hope it does well. The previous 2 games were criminally overlooked.
I will say though: I dread to see the size of the trophy list.
Haven't IO gone independent now like broke away from was Square Enix

This was something that kinda annoyed me in Hitman 2. All the trophies and challenges I had done/unlocked in Hitman were reset. Ughhh
Haven’t played Hitman since PS3. Is this worth picking up?
@Nakatomi_Uk Correct. They split from Squeenix back in 2017 I think.
Didnt like when they locked me out of trophies so its a no for me but i wish them Luck it seems that there are a lot of fans so i wish them all the best.
£15 on the PSN Store has me tempted to jump in on Hitman 2
@Boucho11 they are a lot of fun! very unique gameplay and very replayable. i havent even tried all the levels in hitman 2 yet cause im still finding new things in the first few
Have IO clarified whether the level unlocks will work with the disc versions of Hitman and Hitman 2? Or will it only work with the digital versions?
Day one purchase for me. Still having a blast with hitman 2
@get2sammyb Admirable there's no gold, silver levels/"pass" nonsense of the WB published efforts although with two separate ps4/ps5 versions that sounds like they'll be separate purchases? IE if you buy the ps4 version & then get a ps5 later it'll play on ps5 but if you want the ps5 visuals/load times, you'll need to buy it too?
Hitman 1 and 2 are criminally overlooked by alot of people which is a shame since they both are fantastic games. I am level 600+ in hitman 2 and I must have sunk hundreds of hours into my favourite bald assassin hehe. If anyone hasn't played these and want to check out the gameplay on YouTube then check bigmooney06 since he posts alot of hitman content and it's a good place for any hitman content on yt.
Very much excited for III and I wish IO all the best with this one since they now self publishing. Truly underrated indeed.
This is good news, always appreciate companies that bring over old game content to sequels.
