Sony's Really Trying to Position PS5 as a Destination for Indie Games 1

The truth is, PlayStation has always been a good place to play indie games, but for a lot of people, the console of choice in that regard is Nintendo Switch 2.

Still, that doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of brilliant smaller titles to enjoy on PS5, and Sony has taken the time to highlight 11 such games coming in 2026.

These are all known games, if you're paying attention, but it's worth going through them just in case you spot something new.

Coffee Talk Tokyo is the latest instalment in the cosy visual novel/barista simulator series. It was delayed to May, but hopefully it'll be worth the wait for fans of the previous games.

Fishbowl is part of Sony's India Hero Project, and is scheduled for April. It's all about a young woman who starts a new work-from-home job in her new apartment, and it sounds like it's gonna deal with some tough subject matter. Definitely one to watch.

Up next is Hela, a really interesting co-op adventure game in which you and up to three friends play as mice in a 3D platformer. It's releasing sometime this year and it looks very cute.

inKONBINI is due to release in April, and we've been keen to play this one since it was first announced. You play as a young person who's taken up a job in a Japanese convenience store, meaning you'll be stocking shelves and helping customers at the checkout. It has peaceful vibes that we're looking forward to immersing ourselves in.

Next on the PS Blog's list is Mina the Hollower — the next retro-flavoured action game from the makers of Shovel Knight. This game has been a long time coming, but it's finally narrowed down its release window to Spring 2026, so barring any disasters, it should only be a couple of months away.

Mortal Shell 2 is a Soulslike action game we haven't seen a lot of yet, but the previous instalment was a decent effort with room to grow. We're really glad to see it's getting a sequel then, and it's not too far off, launching sometime this year.

Next is MOUSE: P.I. for Hire, a black and white first-person shooter inspired by early animation. Obviously the visuals look great, but we've yet to play it for ourselves to see if it feels just as good to play. Thankfully, this one's really close, launching on 19th March.

Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse isn't a name that trips off the tongue, but the game itself looks really cool. It's a roguelike action title in which you control a hat that can possess enemies and use their strengths to your own advantage. It's due out very soon on 5th March.

Up next is ONTOS, which is the next terrifying horror game from the makers of SOMA. Its unnerving sci-fi world looks deeply upsetting, but under all the scares, there's promise of a thought-provoking story, assuming the previous game is anything to go by. It's out in 2026.

Out of Words is one of those stop-motion animated games that looks seriously impressive. We can't fault the visuals or animation, but what's it like to play this co-op platformer? Hopefully it's not much longer before we find out.

Finally, there's Over the Hill, the next game from the team behind Art of Rally. This one looks like a full blown off-roading game, all about exploring a wilderness in your customisable vehicle rather than racing. It's coming to PS5 in 2026, and it's the only game listed we don't have a related article for, so that's something.
