'You'll Hear About What We're Doing in Late Summer': Kratos Actor Spills Next PS5 God of War's Reveal Plans 1

Update []: Kratos voice actor Christopher Judge has released a statement after seemingly spilling Santa Monica Studio’s announcement plans.

In a secretly recorded video, he talked a little bit about the upcoming God of War Trilogy Remake – which he’s not involved with – and alluded to upcoming announcements “probably late summer”.

He’s since put out a statement on X (or Twitter) clarifying his comments:

“Let me be crystal clear, I have zero involvement with the original games and what they involve. Full stop. As much as I would love that everything I do in the future would involve Santa Monica Studio and God of War, I have other projects that I am super excited about. More info this summer.”

It’s truly unfortunate that Judge was recorded in this way, but this strikes us as a deflection to be honest.

It was always clear from his comments that he was not involved with the God of War Remake Trilogy, so we certainly believe that part. But in the context of the conversation he was having, it doesn’t sound at all like he was talking other, non-Santa Monica Studio projects.

Original Story: Kratos’ voice actor Christopher Judge appears to have spilled the reveal plans for the next God of War.

In a meet and greet exchange originally uploaded by Fuzhpuzy and mirrored on Reddit, the actor innocently reveals that fans will “hear about what we’re doing, probably late summer”. This actually aligns with recent rumours, which suggested Santa Monica Studio’s next major PS5 game will release in 2027.

In the video, Judge explains to a supporter that TC Carson will be reprising his role as Kratos in the God of War Trilogy Remake, so he won’t be involved with that. He says the game will feature new technologies and a fresh fighting system.

He then goes on to reveal the tidbit about Santa Monica Studio’s next game, which will supposedly “feel like” a new IP. Many are expecting it to take place in a new mythology, potentially in Ancient Egypt.

Rumourmongers had already hinted the game would be announced later this year, ahead of a release in 2027. It’s possible, then, we’ll hear about it during a State of Play around the time of Summer Game Fest – although the “late summer” window Judge mentions suggests we may have to wait beyond that, unless he’s mistaken.

Either way, it does seem like smoke is beginning to form around this project now. Are you excited to see what Santa Monica Studio has been up to? We may not have to wait too much longer to find out.
