Following this past weekend's posts of Santa Monica Studio's next game being "a new franchise within the God of War universe", insider NateTheHate2 has leaked details surrounding the project. Given their reliability, you'll find the claims after the image below. Potential spoilers could follow.

God of War

According to the leaker, the next God of War game will have Faye as its "lead character". Faye was the wife of Kratos and mother to Atreus. She's the character whose ashes you carry to the highest peak in the land in God of War 2018, and she appears in God of War Ragnarok in dream sequences.

This was Faye in God of War Ragnarok:

The new PS5 title will be revealed later this year and launch in the first half of 2027 as long as there are no delays, so says the insider.

It'll have more of an action focus in its gameplay, and another (less reliable) leaker in Shpeshal Nick claims it'll be more like Devil May Cry than the two more recent God of War entries. This would mean that the game plays more like the PS2 to PS3 Greek trilogy.

Over the past couple of months, the next God of War PS5 game has been described as something that'll "feel" like a new IP, and over the weekend, a former employee called it a "new franchise within the God of War universe". This suggests we could see multiple games with Faye as the lead, with the setting seemingly being a prequel to the two Norse titles.

Sony has been working recently to expand the God of War universe, with the recent release of God of War: Sons of Sparta taking on a 2D Metroidvania structure. There's also the God of War TV series from Amazon Prime, which released its first shot last week.
