If recent rumours are to be believed, The Witcher 3 is getting a brand new expansion at some point in the relatively near future — and now, a known insider has added yet more weight to the whispers.
Reliable leaker NateTheHate took to X (also known as Twitter) in order to answer some quickfire questions over the weekend. When asked whether the aforementioned DLC really does exist, he simply replied, "it does".
This is an important corroboration, because previous rumours all hinged on reports coming out of Poland, which can sometimes lead to translation errors and a loss of true meaning.
To recap, said reports really took off near the beginning of the year. A Polish leaker claimed and then doubled down on the expansion's existence, insisting that he had been accurately informed by "several" different sources.
What's more, a financial analyst had pointed out that CD Projekt Red had raised its expectations for profit in 2026, despite a clear lack of confirmed releases. The insinuation is that this DLC will launch soon.
Nothing's been made official just yet, but at this point, we'd be shocked if there's nothing going on. The general feeling is that this expansion will seek to bridge the gap between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4, which could be targeting a 2027 release.
It goes without saying that the announcement of a brand new DLC for an RPG that's over ten years old would make waves. Geralt's 2015 adventure is still widely regarded as one of the genre's finest, more than a decade later.
It's believed that CDPR isn't working on this expansion directly, by the way. The Witcher 4 is the developer's primary project, while the next Cyberpunk is in the early stages of production.
The DLC, then, is supposedly being crafted by the team at Fool's Theory — a Polish outfit that was previously tied to a remake of the first The Witcher game, codenamed Canis Majoris.
It's unclear whether the studio has pivoted towards this DLC entirely, or whether it's working on both projects at the same time.
It's also worth mentioning that, as far as we know, mods are still planned for The Witcher 3 on console. Mods were meant to launch last year, but the roll-out was delayed into this year.
We're yet to hear anything more on that topic, but we suppose it'd make sense for CDPR to potentially bundle its announcements together. The wait continues.
