@Kidfunkadelic83 A lot of things about MGS Delta are outdated as well and the remaster itself has well documented technical issues and got a 9 so, sure, that seems logical.
@EfYI First of all, these games can all be played offline. Second, MS delists games due to licensing but their servers continue to operate for many, many years. So I have no idea why you think if you buy 5, you’ll be forced to play 6 soon. Nope. I still play almost all of the games occasionally. Maybe know your stuff before speaking. I’ve been playing FH games since the very first one.
This game is fantastic and once again Push Square is at the low end of scores. It’s got an 81 on OpenCritic and deserves it. It’s a far more enjoyable game than the original bland walking simulator that is Death Stranding (which got an 83 on OC so not that far away).
Ironically, the game also has a 4.71 out of 5 on the PlayStation store so I guess PS gamers also have bad tastes. 87% positive out of over 6000 reviews on Steam as well.
Give the game a chance and it’s an experience like no other in gaming.
Certainly agree that Cruis ‘n Blast is a great game but Fast & Furious Crossroads is one of the worst games I’ve ever played so I have very little confidence in this game.
Honestly think I may go down to Essential when my renewal comes up. There’s been some good stuff on Essential and I just don’t think I play Extra / Premium games enough to pay the difference. Granted I have GamePass and if that ever went away I may reconsider. But Premium, especially, has been a huge letdown and waste of money.
I think “broken” is a bit much. I’ve hit a few bugs and some framerate drops but it’s still very much playable and I’m enjoying it. Definitely still an upgrade from the original, which is one of my favorite RPGs of all time (even above Skyrim).
And this would be the way to allow consoles to sell themselves on the hardware itself. What functionality, controllers and system perks can differentiate your console from others. It will be where do you actually like playing your games, which to me is a better ask of gamers. Give us the freedom to choose what ecosystem we like the best.
@TruestoryYep Being a bit disingenuous there by saying that about positive reviewers of the game. There were a good many positive reviews from professionals who liked more than the character’s butt. DualShockers and But Why Tho? (both respectable reviewers) have it a 9 for example.
75 average but plenty of reviews on both sides of the fence. But sure, let some random idiot on the Internet talking about butts form your opinion on the game.
Personally think if this game came out under any other publisher besides Sony, everyone would be calling it out for what it is: a very average open world game. But through those “exclusive” beer goggles, it’s amazing.
Already own the two best games here, Cyberpunk and Banishers, and highly recommend both. I am looking forward to New World: Aeternum, which got kind of a lukewarm reception so I never bought but I’ll happily take the chance to try it out.
@get2sammyb Romero posted today that reports of the studio closing are not true. They even met today in the studio to try to find a way forward so that it can stay open.
“ Romero Games is not closed, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that it does not come to that. Any suggestion otherwise is factually incorrect. Indeed, we were in the studio today to discuss next steps with the team.
Your sister site, Nintendo Life, updated their story on this. Figured you would want to update yours as well.”
And FWIW, there’s been a bunch of stories about how Microsoft is behind the ball on AI and the layoffs this year have been all about putting more money into AI. Microsoft wants to chase the AI money. Unfortunately it’s costing them company-wide to do it.
Only thing gaming wise I’m saddened about is Perfect Dark. Really was looking forward to that but also obviously and more importantly my heart goes out to all those affected as well.
Stories that are being updated now are saying Xbox isn’t getting the brunt of the 9000 layoffs. They are mostly coming from other parts of the company:
“Microsoft's gaming operation isn't bearing the brunt of the layoffs this time around — but many of Xbox's operations in Europe, including King (Candy Crush) and ZeniMax (Fallout) have also seen reductions.”
So people need to stop acting like it’s 9000 cuts at Xbox. It isn’t!
@Alps_Stranger I’m downloading it and when I go to “View Product” for my download, it’s showing the bundle with VoH. So fingers crossed! I’ll know in a few minutes.
Played a bit of this on iOS via Apple Arcade. It seemed enjoyable enough but never got around to finishing it wasn’t quite able to get its hooks in me.
I noticed the store seems to indicate that we’re getting the version of Diablo IV that includes the Vessels of Hatred DLC. If that’s true, that’s fantastic. I’ve played the base game on Xbox Series X and there is cross progression so I’ll be anxious to dig into the expansion!
I really feel scammed getting to play games like Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Doom: The Dark Ages, Mullet Madjack, Blue Prince, Monster Train 2, Oblivion Remastered, The Alters, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die — just some of the games from the last few months. All Day One and over 80 (and in some cases 90+) on MetaCritic.
Such crap. It’s one thing to not like GamePass but to say it’s all a bunch of crappy games is disingenuous at best.
Whether or not GamePass is a good business proposition, I’m absolutely loving it as a gamer. I can’t keep up with as many quality day one releases are coming to it. And I’ll take advantage of it while I still can.
I honestly am going to cancel PS+ Premium when it comes up for renewal because I don’t find much benefit in it at all. It’s usually older games I’ve already played or games I don’t have an interest in playing. Everybody’s different and has different tastes so if people are happy with it then that’s great.
I just personally get far more value out of GamePass and it’s saving me a ton of money. So I’ll keep it until that changes if it ever does.
Went back to the Death Stranding DC over the weekend to see if I could get any further and while it’s interesting at times, I’m still really struggling to get into it. Problem is that there are so many games I have that are grabbing me that I’m still not sure I can get through it.
Maybe someday when there’s a lull in my backlog (which may be never), I’ll try again but this series just may not be for me.
Happy it turned out well for those who are into it though!
Wish I could vote for Expedition 33 three times. It was that good. Not only my GoTY at this point but probably my favorite game of all time. Just fantastic in every way.
I’m still interested. There’s only 4 reviews so far on OpenCritic and this is by far the lowest (the others are a 7.5, 8 and 8.5). Loved the original and, especially from the other reviews, sounds like I’ll love this too!
@Rich33 I think you’re wrong to think so many Xbox gamers would never buy another Xbox again. I know a lot of people who would (and read some of the comments on Pure Xbox if you don’t believe me).
After the initial shock of multiplatform games, there’s been a big surge of excitement for the games coming down the line from Xbox studios and GamePass is really firing on all cylinders. This sounds like it’s going to be a PC-console hybrid and that’s a good thing since many would likely jump ship if it wasn’t backwards compatible like they say it will be.
Or course, price will be a factor so we’ll have to wait for more info on that front.
Just glad they said it will be backwards compatible with current Xbox titles. Wondering if that will be an emulator or how it will work but if they took that away, that would lose a lot of Xbox players.
I’ll still be buying Xbox consoles as long as GamePass remains the deal it is now and I’ll also likely continue to buy a PlayStation but if they continue to be as lackadaisical as they are about first party, that may not be the case. Right now I have more reasons to want to play on Xbox (and I do) than I do on PlayStation. Sony needs to wake up.
Happy to see Alone in the Dark. Had interest but not to spend much money on so free is good. I have Bomb Rush Cyberfunk on my Series X. Great game in the vein of Jet Set Radio.

Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans
@LiamCroft I mean many may think so but technically speaking MGS 3 has a 91 on MetaCritic while GoW has a 94.
Honestly an 8 may even be fair but a 7? Sorry, I’ll just agree to disagree.
Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans
@Kidfunkadelic83 A lot of things about MGS Delta are outdated as well and the remaster itself has well documented technical issues and got a 9 so, sure, that seems logical.
Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans
@get2sammyb It’s a fantastic game regardless. And getting much better reviews elsewhere.
The same reviewer gave MGS Delta, an even older game with significant technical issues for the remaster, a 9!
Yeah, there’s a reason why I can’t rely on just reviews here.
Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans
So the original version of this game has a 94% on MetaCritic. But sure, on PlayStation now with better frame rates, lighting, etc., it’s clearly a 7.

Also available on GamePass today if that’s an option for you. Anxious to give this a go!
Edit: now also on PS+ Extra!!!

Boy am I glad Push Square published a story about horrors of GamePass. Really eye opening subject they never talk about. And long live console wars!
