Gilligan last acknowledged the experience in 2022, noting that “making games is damn hard” and the project “never came to fruition”.
It’s one of a spate of cancellations at the Liverpool studio, which was also working on a new Twisted Metal at one point.
Sony acquired the Liverpool-based outfit in 2021, but it’s only released PSVR2 launch title Horizon Call of the Mountain thus far.
Rumour has it the team has been working on a successor to Until Dawn under the name Project Heartbreak, although we’re yet to see a single frame of footage.
