It looks like Bethesda’s decision to bring Starfield to the PS5 over two years after its original release is not doing it much harm.
The sci-fi RPG – which received a mixed reception upon launch – has rocketed close to the top of the PS Store pre-order charts.
In the US, for example, its Premium Edition is currently ranked third, behind only imminent release Crimson Desert. You’ll also find its standard version in sixth position.
It’s a similar story in the UK, where the aforementioned rank third and fourth respectively, above 007 First Light and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Obviously the port was only announced earlier this week, but it’s due out soon, on 7th April, so is likely to hold its position until launch.
On PlayStation’s YouTube channel, the announcement trailer attracted 200k views, which is a respectable number overall.
Meanwhile, on X (or Twitter), PlayStation’s post about the game attracted around 10k likes and over 2.5 million views.
So it suggests there is still very much a market for Starfield on PS5, and while we’re sceptical of it reaching the same highs as other Xbox ports, like Forza Horizon 5, we suspect this is going to give some much-needed legs to the Todd Howard directed title.
