Is MLB 25 really worth buying? I’ve read some things that made it sound like it was actually a pretty big regression from past games. I haven’t bought MLB for a while so was interested until I dug into it a little deeper. Sounds like 24 is better option.
Jez isn’t a reliable source for his own Xbox “beat”. I don’t why anyone thought it was worth wasting time citing him for an even less reliable rumor about PlayStation.
This is the kind of game I wish there was a free trial available. I’m not big into extraction shooters but with the positive reviews it’s been giving, I wouldn’t mind giving it a try. Just can’t spend $40-50 on something I may end up hating.
So we just need to download World Stage and it will still have all the other stuff in the original in addition to the new things added? Or do we need to download the original as well?
Yes, I’ve been playing it for the past few days (plucked out for the deluxe because I knew I’d want the expansions) and it’s fantastic. So much better than the first one IMHO, especially the combat. Looks gorgeous as well!
@LiamCroft Wasn’t WRC 24 renamed to just EA Sports WRC? It’s hard to even find reviews of “WRC 24”. It’s a bit confusing. If you search the PlayStation store for WRC 24, you won’t find it under that name.
I honestly think if it’s more of PC hybrid with Steam, etc. offered, and more expensive to boot then it’s going to have to drop the paid multiplayer to compete with other PCs since there isn’t a fee there. People in Xbox communities have been saying this will have to happen ever since it’s been rumored that it will be a PC hybrid. So this isn’t a surprise at all to me.
This is going to be an expensive machine. I think MS won’t make it a loss leader. They’ll want to make some money from it, still promote GamePass and selling their own games. It’s not like the only revenue source they have is the lowest rung of GP.
@DennisReynolds I think Pure Xbox as a whole has a smaller staff and limited number of reviewers so that may be part of it. That said, it is a big MS release so you’d think this one would have been prioritized.
@SeaDaVie I tend to look at a multitude of reviews, not just one, and reading a bunch of reviews this probably does lie in the middle. Which is what MetaCritic is pretty much saying with 81-83 averages depending on platform.
@Porco I mean this has an 82 on MetaCritic. Even Ninja Gaiden 2 had an 81. You’re acting like this is trash. It’s at least as good or better than two of the three mainline games.
Even with Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2, this is the game I’ve actually been most looking forward to most on GamePass this month. Looks fantastic!
@Weebleman The never said only 4 games. They were porting 4 games to evaluate how well they did. Some Xbox fans tried to say it was “just 4 games” but MS never vowed to only port those four.
I also never heard them promise Indy wasn’t going to PS5 so have no idea where you are getting that from. When it was first announced it may have said “exclusive” on the trailers but I’m also pretty sure Sony put that word on the trailers for Helldivers 2 and Death Stranding and look how that turned out.
Regardless, Microsoft put out a statement. It’s good journalism to include all perspectives, not just some dude on NeoGAF.
@get2sammyb Probably would be good to update your article. Microsoft put out a statement saying they ARE still investing in first-party consoles. It’s been added to the Windows Central story.
"We are actively investing in our future first-party consoles and devices designed, engineered and built by Xbox. For more details, the community can revisit our agreement announcement with AMD."
Same statement being made to others by MS spokespersons:
There’s several other “insiders” refuting the rumor and saying their sources inside Microsoft are saying they’re still committed to making a new console with the AMD partnership. That partnership was only announced three months ago.
Except Microsoft isn’t dominant. And they argued it would hurt completion? Hasn’t MS put more of their games on other platforms? Hasn’t almost every other gaming company also laid off people and raised prices? This is a bit of a disingenuous take trying to make the FTC sound good.
I think a lot of Microsoft’s greed has to do with wanting more money to invest in AI and less with gaming. But almost everything she’s saying could be said of almost every other gaming company today.
Played the first one for a few hours but it just never hooked me. And every time I go back to try, it’s the same story. So won’t be playing Yotei anytime soon…if ever.
@Intr1n5ic That’s literally what it says in the graphic for it. 75+ Day One games per year. They already do quite a few day one third party games and indies besides their own.
Not justifying the Ultimate price increase, but if you look at the middle tier, it is probably closest to PS Plus Premium at the same price. Can’t really compare Ultimate (with 75+ day one games and a $12 Fortnite sub) to PS Plus Premium.
I have it stacked for quite a while from good deals so don’t have to think about it for now. Committing to 75+ day one titles is pretty insane, of course a lot will probably be indies (not necessarily a bad thing).
For now I’ll enjoy all the new benefits for the less than $10 a month (some more like $7) I paid to stack years of GamePass Ultimate to begin with!
I had trouble getting into the first one but with improved combat, etc. I might give this a shot at some point. Do you need to have played the first one?
@Ricky-Spanish I’ve seen stories on other sites with indie devs praising GamePass and how it has given their games so much more exposure that they never could have gotten otherwise. Do they ever have those stories here? Of course not. Exactly like you said, they only report the negative.
Getting tired of the “let’s beat down GamePass some more” narrative on this site. This story is getting more traction here than any of the other gaming sites. It’s like let’s keep the console war narrative alive! Sigh…
@KillerIsD34D MGS Delta was my vote but very surprised the Rogue Prince of Persia isn’t a choice. I mean Super Adventure Cobra gets listed but not PoP?!?
Anyway, it would be my second choice this past month. Great game!
@Fiendish-Beaver @LiamCroft One thing they did add was that the game now adjusts difficulty based on how well you play. And I believe that applies to the main game as well so might be interesting to do a playthrough that way.

Re: Mini Review: Neon Inferno (PS5) - Beautiful Layers, Chaotic Bullets
Still looking forward to this. This is by far the lowest score for the game thus far. Seeing 8s and 9s from other sources and looks right up my alley.
Re: 'Very Vague' Rumour Claims Sony May Scale Back PC Ports of PS5 Games
Jez isn’t a reliable source for his own Xbox “beat”. I don’t why anyone thought it was worth wasting time citing him for an even less reliable rumor about PlayStation.
Re: Poll: Is PS Portal the Biggest Surprise Hit of the PS5 Generation?
@LogicStrikesAgain Yeah, now that I think about it, I guess only Xbox and Nvidia allow cloud streaming directly to mobile devices.
Re: Poll: Is PS Portal the Biggest Surprise Hit of the PS5 Generation?
As others have stated, you can use the remote play app and a controller and basically have a Portal. I’ll save my $200 for new games.

Re: Acclaimed Skiing Adventure Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders Finally Confirmed for PS5
Played this on Game Pass. Nice relaxing skiing game. Well worth checking out!
Re: Virtua Fighter 5 Arrives on PS5 with New Single Player Mode and a $10 Upgrade Path
@ShogunRok Since it’s now a native PS5 game, does it have any graphical or performance benefits over the original game?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing The Outer Worlds 2?
Yes, I’ve been playing it for the past few days (plucked out for the deluxe because I knew I’d want the expansions) and it’s fantastic. So much better than the first one IMHO, especially the combat. Looks gorgeous as well!

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Doing So Badly That's It's Been Outsold by MH Rise, Devil May Cry 5
One other thing though is that Rise will have sold copies likely at a much steeper discount. That said, this is still a really poor showing.
Re: Halo's Worst Level Will Be Much Improved on PS5
Never hated this level as much as others but it probably did go on a tad long.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5?
I’ll be playing it on GamePass. But glad it’ll be available for PlayStation folks to enjoy for the first time.

@cainhurst94 Wukong isn’t a Sony game.
Re: Mini Review: Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition (PS5) - An Overpriced Racer That Loses Its Grip
Damn shame. I love Cruise n’ Blast on Switch so I had high hopes that this would turn out well since previous Fast and Furious games have sucked.
Re: Halo Confirmed for PS5, Remake of First Game Out in 2026
First campaign still is my favorite of the series and cannot wait to play this. Looks gorgeous!

@ear_wig I honestly thought the gameplay in the Nioh 3 demo was trash. Hoping it’s better than the demo was.
But then again I’ve always preferred NG over 5
the Nioh games.
Re: Ninja Gaiden 4 (PS5) - A Bloodthirsty Action Game Ripped Straight from the PS3 Era
7 on Push Square. 9 on Pure Xbox. 83 on OpenCritic sounds about right!

Re: Game of the Month: Silent Hill F (September 2025)
I’m enjoying Silent Hill F but Cronos is the better game IMO. One of my favorite survivor horror games ever.

@Questionable_Duck The won’t report it because it doesn’t fit their theme of all doom for Xbox all the time on this site.
And Jez actually has an article on Windows Central this time, not just some comment on a forum like this article based on.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Silent Hill F?
Playing this and Cronos at the same time and have to say I’m loving Cronos a lot more.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for September 2025?
No new announcements from first party studios but Wolverine did look good.
Saros to me just looks like a Returnal reskin. Not a bad thing but I personally wanted something different.
Still pretty barren outlook overall for PS Studios.
Re: First PS Plus Essential Game for October 2025 Leaked
Already have it so not a win for me but fantastic game. Glad others will get to play it.
Re: Silent Hill F (PS5) - Brutal Survival Horror Walks a New Path
Wow. This is up to an 88 with 68 reviews on OpenCritic. Can’t wait to play this later this week!!!
Re: Konami Asks Which Metal Gear Solid Game You Want Remade Next
MGS4 just because there’s no other way to play it right now. And that’s sad.
