Played this for hours last night and had a blast. It may be “old school” but as someone who has never played the series, the battle system is fresh for me and I’m loving it
A lot of this interview talked about how important the Xbox console hardware was. The next console is still coming and contrary to other reports, they are going full force forward with Xbox. Why aren’t you reporting that when you let an old Xbox executive say that Xbox is dead? (He later refuted that statement but again, no update to the story). Only negative Xbox news here then, huh?
@ShogunRok Since this article came out on GamesBeat, Blackley has pushed back on that he said Xbox is dead. He plainly says “No” to the question on BlueSky. Might be worth updating your article to mention that.
Even in GB article, he says the CEO may succeed. He even gives her advice to succeed. So there’s more context, which I think is why he came out with the post saying that he does not think Xbox is dead.
I’m actually happy about this. Been wanting a newer golf game for a while now but couldn’t bring myself to spend the ~$30 this was going for (in sales). “Free” works (yes, I know it’s not really free).
I might pick it up with a price drop. So many of these games launch at $20 or lower and many are fantastic. Seems like the extra $10 just for the God of War name and still get an average game.
The petty console warriors are out today in full force. If the next Xbox is a hybrid with all the functionality it’s rumored to have, it’s going to be a damn expensive niche machine. Microsoft would probably be positioning itself as the high-end gamer machine and isn’t going to be expecting to suddenly lead the “console war”.
If it does turn out to be an expensive, niche machine, do you really think Sony is going to cut off the revenue it’s getting from stopping or delaying PC ports just because a small percentage of the market will play them on an “Xbox”?
No, they’ll take the money thank you very much. Who TF cares about a few “Xbox” players playing their games unless you’re 10 and still believe stupid console war crap?
Honestly don’t know why this was even made to be a story. It’s like even Push Square wants to hang on to console warring. It’s getting old.
Honestly I had trouble getting through Tsushima and hadn’t planned on getting Yotei. But had the opportunity to get it at a nice discount so snagged it anyway. I’ve been quite surprised. It’s hooked me more than Tsushima ever did. Tweaks to the gameplay and that feeling of more forward momentum made a huge difference to me. Side quests are generally more interesting as well. Haven’t finished it yet but so far I’m enjoying it more than GoT.
You could probably use this same article every few weeks as they rotate between indies and bigger games. Just plug in the name of the sale and the rest will be right 95% of the time.
Same old games at the same old prices.
Oh how I miss the sales of yesteryear when Sony had surprise flash sales with prices that actually were surprising. No more. 🙁
There was a lot to like about out it - combat and traversal in particular. And I honestly do wish they had been given more time to turn it around from a development point of view.
Oh well, I will admit that when I heard a few months ago that they would be turning the servers off, I was shocked that they were still operating.
Can you play the DLC without completing the main game? I own the game and loved the world and traversal but, like others, lost interest because of the typical open world muck.
I would love to play a streamlined story based game in the same universe. And if playing the DLC without needing to finish the main game will get me that, I’m in.
@SeaDaVie Well, to be fair, PlayStation only had two big first party games and those both made the top 5. I’m sure if there were others, they’d probably be in positions 2-5 just like PX with Microsoft games. It’s the nature of the beast.
It’s amazing how some people will comment on an unrelated game just to bash E33 some more. Give it up already!
As for Yotei, I still haven’t even finished the first game. Look forward to playing one day but even Tsushima becomes a bit of a slog after a while so we’ll have to see when it comes to Yotei.
TBH, I like it more than Mario Kart World. Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed is actually my favorite kart racer of all time and this came close to (but not quite) dethroning it. Great game and well deserved placement in the top 10.
I absolutely love this game but have been stuck in one particularly difficult area (about 8 hours in) so an easier difficulty is welcome. Might try to only use it for that part as the rest has been challenging but doable and felt great.
I think a lot of people, like myself, heard Arc Raiders was great but didn’t know what it was about and what the gameplay was like. So yeah, I can see why it’s #1.
Same as others here in that this is exactly what I expected and not “subpar” as it was never advertised as anything more. It’s not a remake. Increased resolution and, especially, 60 FPS are music to my ears. Can’t wait to dig in tonight.
Yeah, that spidery eye thing is directly from Diablo 4 and that picture with it is from some fans who went to the location. Guessing is over. It’s definitely D4.
Outside of Neon White and The Outlast Trials, it seems like Sony decided to round up a bunch of disappointing games. Synduality in particular has awful reviews on Steam.
Oh well, at least I don’t own any of them except Neon White!
It’s also been reported that there are indications from those new job listings that the sequel will be multi-platform. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the first game ported to Xbox/Switch 2 in the near future.
ShiftUp is looking to capitalize on its success and I don’t blame them!
Not really sure it even has to do with less effort. It seems like a lot went into trying to do something new with the basically all co-op campaign. Problem is it turned out like crap. Sometimes you fail doing something different.
Also think the MP is pretty good this year. But unfortunately for CoD, good isn’t good enough when Battlefield turned out as well as it did.

I think both Spencer and Bond didn’t agree with the current strategy and I wouldn’t have blamed them.
PlayStation gets some bad press for Bluepoint and Xbox says “hold my beer”.

Re: Dead or Alive 6: Last Round Is Sounding More and More Like a Rough Deal
Wish they’d just make another game that goes back to the original formula. Honestly DoA 4 was the last one even worthwhile IMO. 5 and 6 sucked.
I only play the original Xbox and Xbox 360 ones that are backwards compatible.
This one sounds DOA (pun intended).

Re: God of War: Sons of Sparta Is the Long-Rumoured 2D Game, and It's Out Today on PS5
Doesn’t look…great. Definitely holding off for now, especially at a $30 price point.
I personally think there were better games to end the show on.
