Re: Game of the Month: Crimson Desert (March 2026)

@Bracing_space It’s really different from any racer I’ve ever played. It uses twin stick controls (left stick for turning / right stick for drifting). Was unsure about that system but it works wonderfully and hope other racing games adapt it.

But drifting is just one component. There are systems for shifting, boosting and strikes (for taking down other racers). It’s really deep. Maybe too deep for some but it’s a blast for me.

Story is a much bigger component as well (has a huge 100 chapter campaign). Also worth noting that it’s very challenging. One of the toughest racing games I’ve played.

Overall, it’s the best arcade racer I’ve played since Blur IMO. Could really use a demo so people knew what it’s really like. Not just a standard racing game for sure.

Even though it has some issues, Crimson Desert deserves it for pulling off much of what it wanted to do with such a massive open world.

That said, I voted for Screamer because it’s such a breath of fresh air in the arcade racing genre. It can be brutally hard but it’s the most fun I’ve had in a racing game in years.

Created a second account since it wasn’t getting it. And sure enough, deal appeared. Got Saros for $35. Know I could have gotten a bit more but happy with getting what I got. Though I really wish I had gotten the deluxe for $5 more to play early.

Funny how everyone says this had a “mixed reception”. May be surprising to know it has an 85 on OpenCritic and 83 (Xbox)/85 (PC) on MetaCritic. And the game actually has had updates to make it better since then.

Then again, this site said Crimson Desert scores were “‘massively disappointing” so…

@get2sammyb You said this: “Why would you be more interested in owning the follow-up to a console that flopped and less interested in one that was a success?”

There are people that still love Xbox despite all that has happened and also have libraries they want to keep playing.

(And other people like myself who want to keep playing both systems 😀)

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

@get2sammyb “Why would anyone” consider buying this? Because despite “failing”, there’s still millions of people that play Xbox that will be interested in this. And the fact that it will also play PC games, in addition to the libraries many have built up over the years, is a huge deal. The cost will certainly be a factor though.

Re: 'The Plan's the Plan Until It's Not the Plan': Xbox All Over the Place on Future PS5 Ports

A lot of this interview talked about how important the Xbox console hardware was. The next console is still coming and contrary to other reports, they are going full force forward with Xbox. Why aren’t you reporting that when you let an old Xbox executive say that Xbox is dead? (He later refuted that statement but again, no update to the story). Only negative Xbox news here then, huh?

@ShogunRok Since this article came out on GamesBeat, Blackley has pushed back on that he said Xbox is dead. He plainly says “No” to the question on BlueSky. Might be worth updating your article to mention that.

Even in GB article, he says the CEO may succeed. He even gives her advice to succeed. So there’s more context, which I think is why he came out with the post saying that he does not think Xbox is dead.

Re: 'Not Likely': Spider-Man 2 Dev Crushes Xbox Port Dreams

The petty console warriors are out today in full force. If the next Xbox is a hybrid with all the functionality it’s rumored to have, it’s going to be a damn expensive niche machine. Microsoft would probably be positioning itself as the high-end gamer machine and isn’t going to be expecting to suddenly lead the “console war”.

If it does turn out to be an expensive, niche machine, do you really think Sony is going to cut off the revenue it’s getting from stopping or delaying PC ports just because a small percentage of the market will play them on an “Xbox”?

No, they’ll take the money thank you very much. Who TF cares about a few “Xbox” players playing their games unless you’re 10 and still believe stupid console war crap?

Honestly don’t know why this was even made to be a story. It’s like even Push Square wants to hang on to console warring. It’s getting old.
