Re: Romero Games Allegedly Met with Microsoft a Day Before Funding Was Pulled

awp69

@get2sammyb Romero posted today that reports of the studio closing are not true. They even met today in the studio to try to find a way forward so that it can stay open.

https://bsky.app/profile/romerogames.bsky.social/post/3ltfjxsyavs23

Romero Games is not closed, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that it does not come to that. Any suggestion otherwise is factually incorrect. Indeed, we were in the studio today to discuss next steps with the team.
Your sister site, Nintendo Life, updated their story on this. Figured you would want to update yours as well.”

Fingers crossed that they stay open!

Re: 'I Much Prefer PS Plus' Lifecycle Management Strategy': Devs Weigh in on Crippling Xbox Game Pass Impact

And FWIW, there’s been a bunch of stories about how Microsoft is behind the ball on AI and the layoffs this year have been all about putting more money into AI. Microsoft wants to chase the AI money. Unfortunately it’s costing them company-wide to do it.

https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/report-microsofts-2025-layoffs-revolve-around-its-desperate-usd80-billion-ai-infrastructure-investment

Not everything is about GamePass as much as people here would like it to be. Just saying.

Re: Mass Xbox Layoffs Begin, Rare Game Everwild Reportedly Cancelled

awp69

Stories that are being updated now are saying Xbox isn’t getting the brunt of the 9000 layoffs. They are mostly coming from other parts of the company:
“Microsoft's gaming operation isn't bearing the brunt of the layoffs this time around — but many of Xbox's operations in Europe, including King (Candy Crush) and ZeniMax (Fallout) have also seen reductions.”

So people need to stop acting like it’s 9000 cuts at Xbox. It isn’t!

Re: 'We're Not Looking to Put First-Party Games in PS Plus Day and Date': Sony Rejects Xbox Game Pass Model

awp69

I really feel scammed getting to play games like Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Doom: The Dark Ages, Mullet Madjack, Blue Prince, Monster Train 2, Oblivion Remastered, The Alters, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die — just some of the games from the last few months. All Day One and over 80 (and in some cases 90+) on MetaCritic.

Such crap. It’s one thing to not like GamePass but to say it’s all a bunch of crappy games is disingenuous at best.

Re: 'We're Not Looking to Put First-Party Games in Day and Date': PS Plus Rejects Xbox Game Pass Model

Whether or not GamePass is a good business proposition, I’m absolutely loving it as a gamer. I can’t keep up with as many quality day one releases are coming to it. And I’ll take advantage of it while I still can.

I honestly am going to cancel PS+ Premium when it comes up for renewal because I don’t find much benefit in it at all. It’s usually older games I’ve already played or games I don’t have an interest in playing. Everybody’s different and has different tastes so if people are happy with it then that’s great.

I just personally get far more value out of GamePass and it’s saving me a ton of money. So I’ll keep it until that changes if it ever does.

Re: Death Stranding 2 (PS5) - A Masterpiece in Every Sense

awp69

Went back to the Death Stranding DC over the weekend to see if I could get any further and while it’s interesting at times, I’m still really struggling to get into it. Problem is that there are so many games I have that are grabbing me that I’m still not sure I can get through it.

Maybe someday when there’s a lull in my backlog (which may be never), I’ll try again but this series just may not be for me.

Happy it turned out well for those who are into it though!

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

awp69

@Rich33 I think you’re wrong to think so many Xbox gamers would never buy another Xbox again. I know a lot of people who would (and read some of the comments on Pure Xbox if you don’t believe me).

After the initial shock of multiplatform games, there’s been a big surge of excitement for the games coming down the line from Xbox studios and GamePass is really firing on all cylinders. This sounds like it’s going to be a PC-console hybrid and that’s a good thing since many would likely jump ship if it wasn’t backwards compatible like they say it will be.

Or course, price will be a factor so we’ll have to wait for more info on that front.

Re: Fallout TV Show Could Be Around for Another 5 Seasons

awp69

First season was outstanding (and both critical and audience reception was in the 90s on RT. It was far from just “passable”. Honestly think it’s the best video game adaptation on TV yet (yes, better than TLOU).

Cannot wait until the second season!!!

Re: PS5's Share of Active US Players Is Slowly Beginning to Pummel Xbox

awp69

As an owner of both a PS5 and XSX, I’ve actually been playing my Xbox more than ever. GamePass has been killing it lately and it’ll continue to be a huge reason for me to still want to get an Xbox going forward.

Still enjoy my PS5, but contrary to belief there are people who still like their Xboxes and have reasons for it. And that’s okay.

Re: Plenty of People Are Playing Expedition 33 on PS5, Despite Having to Actually Buy It

awp69

@ChrisDeku I never said users. And there’s plenty of articles that say exactly what I said. Like the one below where it explicitly says this:

“Nadella added that PC Game Pass revenue increased 45% year-over-year.”

https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/xbox-fy25-q3-gaming-revenue

It’s 100% making more money regardless. And that’s good news for Microsoft and GP. GP sub price hikes were not 45% so there has to have been more users to go up that much.

It’s revenue so how could that be “cherry picked”? It’s just a comparison of what it made last year to what it’s making this year. And it made a lot more.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (PS5) - The Largely Fantastic Revival of a Landmark RPG

awp69

Only problem I have with these remaster reviews is that they say it’s the best way to play a game that was highly rated to begin with but then give it an average review score. Makes it seem like it’s actually worse than playing the original.

Not going to happen but it seems like the best solution would be to have a rating for the game itself and then a separate rating for the remaster effort.

Re: Not Everyone Loved Oblivion Remastered's Shadow Drop

awp69

I never even heard of the game and you can’t really blame that on the shadow drop itself. You should be promoting your game months in advance. I read gaming sites daily so the fact that I haven’t even heard of it at all says something.
