Hollow Knight: Silksong PS5 PS4

Team Cherry has delayed Hollow Knight: Silksong out of the release window it handed the anticipated 2D title nearly a year ago. Having appeared in Microsoft's June press conference, it was one of the games slated to release within the next 12 months. This will no longer happen, though, as the developer confirms Hollow Knight: Silksong won't launch in the first six months of 2023.

Taking to Twitter, marketing and publishing exec Matthew Griffin said development is continuing through the projected release window. "We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release."

This delay doesn't entirely rule out a PS5, PS4 release at some point in 2023, but given today's pushback, it's likely you won't be playing the game until at least the very end of the year. A launch in early to mid-2024 sounds more realistic at this point. While details on the sequel are still somewhat light, Silksong introduces a new kingdom to explore, over 150 enemies, and a new difficulty setting that changes the experience after completing the game. Considering how lengthy the original Hollow Knight became with multiple DLC drops after launch, Silksong sounds like it's shaping up to be yet another big — but welcome — commitment.
