MX vs ATV All Out was good fun, I loved to play Offroad Fury on the PS2. I probably won't buy Legends on launch day, but maybe if it runs better on Intel HD 630 or looks better on the RTX 2060 I'll get it. You probably can't do both. It'll probably run fine on console.
@Haruki_NLI Is it? Mirage Sessions was proprietary engine, SMT V was Unreal, SMT 3 HD is Unity, anything is possible really. I guess Unreal 4, especially since they wouldn't port to Xbox if it wasn't easy. A proprietary engine would need lots of work to port to Xbox, but not Unreal or Unity. Due to the Switch's GPU, performance would be miserable without more port time, which costs money and port delays always hurt sales.
@Haruki_NLI I was about to say but PC but GPU prices in Japan have probably stopped Steam from gaining more market share. Regardless unless Atlus pays up for a miracle port a year after the fact like Doom or pushes it out the door like Lichdom Battlemage or Cyberpunk 2077, I don't think the Switch could get anything more than a cloud edition.
I'm sure they know, but it would go a long way if merely driving and shooting actually felt good. It really felt like it could be a good GTA or Deus Ex at times, if the guns and cars felt right.
I feel bad for the devs because I doubt they would choose to ship this early. But for 2K who tasked them with remastering all 3 in this short timespan, they don't deserve money for this until it's patched up. Nothing is perfect but this is pretty rough.
Is Square Enix trying to botch the launch of the Guardians of the Galaxy game? I'd even say it looks very promising, but it will probably flop anyways with how much good faith Square Enix has lost. One thing's for sure, I couldn't be happier I skipped the Marvel's Avengers game. I feel bad for the staff at Crystal Dynamics because clearly they have many competent people who worked on Tomb Raider, but leadership and publisher decisions are going downhill fast.
@playstation1995 The PS2 trilogy of GTA games have aged well in some regards, and horribly in others. The cities themselves are excellent, and hold up to this day. The gameplay however is atrocious. If they can pull a RE2 or FF7 remake it could be magic, but to do that to an entire trilogy is difficult. The games would need that level of reinvention on a Mass Effect Legendary Edition scale. Maybe Rockstar or whoever is supporting this will do it, or maybe it will look like the GTA V PS5 edition. I sure hope it's the former.
Maintaining an old engine sounds like a pain. It's unreal to see everything move to Unreal Engine, but everyone from the professors at my university to the student-run indie game groups all know what a joke Unity is aside from better VR support (more Unreal VR support being bad than Unity being good). At this point CryEngine is like Source 2, it went from mainstream to an in house engine a couple other devs are using. Frostbite, Decima, id Tech, Anvil, and the rest are in the same boat.
A full remaster like the PS4 version is too much to ask for. But better poly count on entities, better textures, and RDR2 lighting would go a long way. Of course, Rockstar seems to be all about milking GTA Online and it's a miracle they are even porting the single player standalone to PS5. At least 4K 60 FPS will be there with faster loading times, just like on PC...after tost reverse engineered the game to find loading code inefficiencies for security bounty money lol.
Given Ubisoft as a company I think I'll pass, but this does sound compelling. I prefer short linear games so a 10 hour DLC that drops the play as anyone gimmick is the best turnaround for Legion.
@Shinnok789 I kind of wonder if Valve is part of why the DualSense is not as commonly supported. I love Valve of course, the fact that they have pushed for VR, Proton, Steam controller mapping, home sharing, even Steam Link, which is more hit and miss than Proton, is commendable. But by them being the front of DualSense support, I wonder if that hinders developers who want to avoid them. You don't need Steam to use their Unity VR plugin, but I don't know how DualSense support works. I've yet to see any Game Pass/Windows Store, or Epic Games Store game work with DualSense, though the latter can be added to Steam to work around it. The hardest part of driving hardware adoption is getting devs on board and if Sony is relying on Valve to provide it I'm not sure it will take off. Does Days Gone on Epic Games Store support DualSense like Steam does? I'm not paying $50 to find out though. https://www.bendstudio.com/blog/days-gone-pc-faq/ implies it requires a wire outside Steam.
@Paranoimia I got a DualSense a few days ago. One thing I noticed is both AAA and indie games are stuck in the VR age of wrong button prompts. But unlike VR where there are Vive Wands, classic Windows MR controllers, and Oculus controller layouts, the DualSense is pretty much identical to the Xbone and Switch aside from symbols. Considering how they don't need to support any new layout, and just need different icons, it stings even that little effort wasn't expended.
I got a DualSense a few days ago for Days Gone, but in Metro Exodus Enhanced the controller doesn't work. The button prompts turn to mouse prompts unless you turn gyro aiming and touchpad aiming off. Then when you do the buttons don't always unpress. Something is very buggy right now, but I am interested in when they fix it. Till then my Xbone controller will do.
Edit: Best part is Artyom's voice is super deep cause the audio is messed up over USB in Metro Exodus Enhanced too. Audio works elsewhere so I'm not sure what's up. Astro's Playroom would be great on PC as a proof of concept.
@Arugula The original SSD is soldered according to iFixit, so you can't replace it without a good hot air station, and good ones cost more than a good soldering iron. The Xbox Series X and S both have socketed SSD but the Series S one is a shorter length than most NVMe SSD, and I have no idea how lenient MS is about putting in a 3rd party SSD. I've seen an old SSD die at work so I know like spinning disks solid state also have a finite lifetime. Good news is the PS6 will probably be out by then, and maybe a PS5 slim will return to NVMe sockets.
Pretty ***** to see the devs impacted by the hack. If anyone thinks the hackers did this as revenge they have the same motivation CDPR's leadership has, and that's money, the one true thing they care about. As usual the devs and consumers are mere externalities on the business types and hackers' quest for riches.
Pretty certain that after all Avellone did he won't be missed but the other departures were a bad sign. I'm sure there's more to the story that will come out sooner or later.
@TrueAssassin86x I'm glad this pressured Sony to improve its refund policy. That said I've heard the game is still a mess. Performance is better and some bugs have been fixed, but it's still far from what it should have launched as. Xbox One in particular has not seen as much performance improvements. CDPR will need to improve the framerate, asset loading, and fix many bugs. Digital Foundry had a good performance analysis video on the 1.1 patch and I doubt 1.2 will fix everything either. At GDC 2019 Insomniac said they spent months optimizing Spider Man's asset loading on base PS4, clearly CDPR is only starting what will take them several months as well.
@Mpquikster It will come back, it'd be foolish to think either Sony or CDPR would give up on its return. I for one am happy it's not back yet, AAA games by their nature are more complicated and harder to get right but many publishers throw their weight around and expect people to pay full price for an early access at best. Publishers will do this as long as it's profitable to do so, if Sony pulled it for only a month they would do it again. By pulling it for a longer period of time it costs CDPR more, and makes it less likely their management will take this risk again. It's better for consumers, for developers, and the managers will still be rich even if a little less so. I got lots of hate for saying it would need more than a couple months of patches. But February has come and gone and the game is still a mess, contrary to CDPR's claims.
While I believe gamers overreacted, there are worse people out there than scalpers, they are using bots to increase the already bad scarcity. Many of them are not small time scalpers trying to get by like they claim, some have huge operations that required capital. Not get the last 10% of my rent capital, but buy a sports car capital. I got no pity those get even richer quick douchebags are hated, spend a day being poor or a minority and see what a real struggle looks like. They can rest easy knowing they got piles of cash they didn't need from piles of cash they already had and the only thing they did to get it was exploit scarcity while people pick berries to feed the people for a fraction of the cost and get demonized for "stealing jobs". Cry me a river.
Super cool, I use Windows primarily but I also use Ubuntu and Ubuntu server, it's great to see official support this early. Xbox One S controller worked great once I edited the configs, it's always better if it just works out the box. Sony++ for fast release of DualSense support. I was thinking of getting a Xbox Series controller, maybe I'll get a DualSense. I'm still waiting to think about it.
@TheLightSpirit Didn't Warner Bros themselves recall it voluntarily? This is forced by Sony. Which is good, I'm sure the sales weren't worth the toll on customer service.
Avelone's departure is because of sexual abuse allegations against him and good riddance. Other departures however are not a good look. Hopefully the game turns out well, delays avoid bugs and crunch.
In but not limited to America, Amazon is pretty bad to their not manager employees so no one stays long. Unless the employees stealing the PS5s can't afford their rent, they're douche bags, but remember if Amazon treated their not manager employees well the not douche employees wouldn't leave. It's why I avoid Amazon when I can, and Newegg too. B&H and traditional retail stores have done me right, and I'm not gonna save a few bucks to go on Amazon. Of course with the current PS5 stock, Amazon might be the only option. It's far from the first time Amazon employees have pulled this crap, and while the employee pulled the crap, the reason it's so widespread is because Amazon is so greedy they won't even let staff use the bathroom. They company as a whole gets away with what they can when they can, just like these employees are doing.
I recall a few Xbox One X with this issue. Hopefully it's just a few. I have no idea how loud it is, and if soldering can fix it though a warranty claim is safer.
Really sick of all the companies that roll out unfinished products to meet a quota or deadline. Maybe there's more to it, I do not work at Sony. Maybe there was something deprecated in the old code, but it just looks like minimum viable product so they can say they launched a new website in one fiscal quarter or some management hell excuse.
I'm happy they're doing this but it's funny MS got slammed for supporting Xbox One and now Sony is doing it too after all. Of course Halo Infinite didn't even look like it made use of the Series X GPU but Spider-Man and Horizon do. It'll be fine, probably less enemies or dumber physics, but the PS4 had a decent GPU and lots of RAM that have aged well.
Same devs probably will have homages to the past, but ultimately both games look like spinoffs. The game looked good and Rocksteady has a good history of delivering, but the lack of gameplay in this cinematic trailer leaves me waiting for more. Almost 2 years to go, assuming no delays, so plenty of time to show gameplay. Gotham Knights gameplay looked promising.
I want to think EA would be good after Respawn and the Command & Conquer remaster, but they did tank Bioware. Still better than Activision, which is more EA than EA itself, and Ubisoft considering the HR burying rape allegations and manager creep cancelling games that aren't cookie cutter open-world AAAs. Sony would be a good owner but doesn't need them, Nintendo doesn't seem like the type to buy WB, and as much as Sony fanboys hate to admit it, MS would probably be alright.
Japanese VA was always fine, and a good Japanese dub is vastly preferable to a bad English one, but this really does make me want to buy it even more. As an Xbox One owner I hope they do a PS5 patch as it would be stupid to not do a PS5 patch when it's already on PS4.
Edit: They are doing a PS5 patch, it just looks the western release is a timed Xbox exclusive. I thought it had already came west on PS4.
Aside from Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart how many games actually need the PS5 to run? I know the PS4's CPU, RAM, and hard disk can be bottlenecks, but I'm not so convinced everything that is next-gen exclusive needs to be. Same with Scorn on Series X, I doubt that couldn't run on the Xbone.
I have this on PC. It used to be a buggy mess with a great game underneath, after Budget Cuts 2 came out a big patch came to Budget Cuts 1 that fixed tons of bugs and improved performance. PSVR users will be in for a treat.
I wonder how many times these Bethesda and 2K account nags are actually bugs and not features. I remember when you claimed a bug as by design, these days it's twisted. But if they patch it to how it should be I'll stop complaining, I just can't stand the suits and their ways.
I didn't know Frostbite did VR games. As many bad things I've heard of Frostbite being hard to work with it does perform very well so it could be a good fit.
@vhsodre I also heard gameplay was repetitive, that and the bugs kept me away from it at launch. Then college took up my time. I want to believe Hangar 13 has gotten more time for this game from 2K and also became more experienced programmers, but it is not a good outlook. We'll tell soon enough.
After the Mafia 2 remaster disaster, 2K account crap, and Mafia 3 downgrade, I hope this turns out alright. I had a bad feeling the Mafia 2 remaster would be a cash grab, but all they had to do was get this right and not make Mafia 3 worse. Mafia 3 always deserved better, I heard great things about the story. Shame they accidentally removed PS4 Pro support while managing to leave many long withstanding bugs. I hope their efforts all went here, but I'm not betting on it. Looks promising though.
Really wish Sony made a rectangular box with no distracting gamer lights. Doesn't matter though cause they got the games, with Deathloop and Oddworld looking amazing!
Hopefully full-fat Prey in VR. And hopefully comes to SteamVR too. Aside from Cyberpilot Bethesda has actually been a pretty good VR publisher, here's hoping this is a good conversion.
@A356852 Is it really Nintendo fanboys? I don't mind the violence, I just don't think anyone who doesn't agree with me is a fanboy. It's a foolish mentality to have.
Pretty sad outcome. Mick agreed to a difficult deadline and Bethesda already put up preorders for the OST. However I think fans are more disappointed at the OST spat resulting in Mick's departure than its delay. There was no easy option at that point, it was too late to go back and hire Mick Gordon sooner. But anything would have been better than this outcome. I also wonder how it will impact the Wolfenstein series.
A: Console crossplay only (maybe a platform checkbox) would be a good option. B: CS GO matches people on the free tier with each other to avoid cheaters making throwaway accounts.
Not only is the color of the face buttons an iconic staple of the DualShock, I've read comments from people with Dyslexia that it helps them tell which button is which. I don't have Dyslexia so I can't relate but it would be good to have a variety available that isn't monochrome.

Re: Mafia: Definitive Edition Looks Incredible in First Trailer
After the Mafia 2 remaster disaster, 2K account crap, and Mafia 3 downgrade, I hope this turns out alright. I had a bad feeling the Mafia 2 remaster would be a cash grab, but all they had to do was get this right and not make Mafia 3 worse. Mafia 3 always deserved better, I heard great things about the story. Shame they accidentally removed PS4 Pro support while managing to leave many long withstanding bugs. I hope their efforts all went here, but I'm not betting on it. Looks promising though.
Re: Gallery: PS5's Design Is Unorthodox But Unforgettable
Really wish Sony made a rectangular box with no distracting gamer lights. Doesn't matter though cause they got the games, with Deathloop and Oddworld looking amazing!
Re: Observer: System Redux Details Its PS5 Upgrades in Gameplay Trailer
@Prime_Objective I wonder how his passing affected the new content. Presumably it was recorded for the original game but got cut? We'll find out.
Re: PREY VR Listed for PSVR by UK Online Retailer
Hopefully full-fat Prey in VR. And hopefully comes to SteamVR too. Aside from Cyberpilot Bethesda has actually been a pretty good VR publisher, here's hoping this is a good conversion.
Re: New The Last of Us 2 PS4 Gameplay Is Brutal and Beautiful
@A356852 Is it really Nintendo fanboys? I don't mind the violence, I just don't think anyone who doesn't agree with me is a fanboy. It's a foolish mentality to have.
Re: DOOM Developer Ditches Composer Amid Public Spat
Pretty sad outcome. Mick agreed to a difficult deadline and Bethesda already put up preorders for the OST. However I think fans are more disappointed at the OST spat resulting in Mick's departure than its delay. There was no easy option at that point, it was too late to go back and hire Mick Gordon sooner. But anything would have been better than this outcome. I also wonder how it will impact the Wolfenstein series.
Re: After Sony's Crossplay Kerfuffle, Call of Duty Fans Are Turning the Feature Off
A: Console crossplay only (maybe a platform checkbox) would be a good option.
B: CS GO matches people on the free tier with each other to avoid cheaters making throwaway accounts.
Re: Don't Worry, the PS5 DualSense Controller Still Has a Headphone Jack
Not only is the color of the face buttons an iconic staple of the DualShock, I've read comments from people with Dyslexia that it helps them tell which button is which. I don't have Dyslexia so I can't relate but it would be good to have a variety available that isn't monochrome.
