I'm sick of seeing companies pick up franchises after they've been established, right after a reboot no less. In a way it'd be better for Tomb Raider to stay Xbox-exclusive for the last entry in the trilogy cause they'll have just finished burning their PlayStation fans. Can't say Sony's much better though.
@Gamer83 I hope a third party like Namco picks them up and rehires most of the old staff. Not sure what they'll do about the engine though. License it from Konami?
Irony aside, I can completely see Sony pulling another Vita or Move and making off with the money. If the Wii U gamepad and Xbox Kinect couldn't succeed by being bundled with the console, I have no idea how this will. Its additional entertainment value won't be worth its even more astronomical price. It's like investing money in someone with a very poor credit score. I don't have a PS4, but if I did I'd rather get HoloLens or Steam VR (yes, I know the former isn't even the same thing, but at least I'd know it'd get more support).
Edit: I almost forgot about the PlayStation 3D Display. But even a pessimist like me can't see this doing that bad.
@Tasuki Honestly you should just ban him. That would be some good trolling if you know what I mean. We all know what he's here for; he couldn't even make the effort to get a profile picture.
So it's not worth much, but then PlayStation Now is? Sounds BS to me. The real answer is "It's not possible," but I guess Sony's got too much pride to say that. Take that and the Vita being "a legacy console" behind their customers' backs, and there goes a potential customer.
It looks like a cheap version of the Xbox One controller. Might as well get a DualShock 4 no matter what you think of it. I actually like it, unlike its 3 predecessors.
They already made a smartphone game and even that wasn't half bad - a hell of a lot better than most of them. But yeah, Catalyst better be a console game.
@Link41x I don't think it will implode like the Wii did as the platform is actually stable, but I doubt it will remain this profitable forever, and it's already oversaturated. Konami's crazy if they think they're better off there, but then again, look at how stupid they've been lately. I'm sure somebody will happily recruit their talent [Kojima].
@Gamer83 I know, if the publishers want people buying this year's new sports game, maybe they should make it that much better. Here's an idea: release a new entry every 3 years and sell expansions for them in the years between each one. Sadly, that might be a little too much to wish for.
@NomNom I'm in the same boat. Comcast kept calling my family asking us if we wanted them to redo the connection so our connection speeds would be "faster." We knew it was too good to be true so we turned them down. A couple weeks later they gave up and just slashed the cables out back and blamed it on the router we bought to avoid renting one from them...and in the end they got their way. Did I mention they got us a new modem that can hardly stream video? Must be a new way for them to compete with Netflix.
@sonicmeerkat Eh, at least it wasn't for the mere sake of pissing people off. This took stupid to a whole nother level. Now people are wasting obscene amounts of money on screwing with people.
Tricking trolls into throwing irate amounts of money at you isn't quite as easy as I thought it was. A shame, it would have been lovely to see one run into financial troubles after such a stupid investment.
Ever since Comcast downgraded the internet I haven't been able to use online multiplayer as streaming video is a war as it is. For me this is no effect, but for those that still pay for PSN / Xbox Live this must be infuriating as hell. Is it Idiot Squad again, or is it Sony's incompetence? Really, both are pitiful as it is. Hopefully Sony can get their crap straight and Idiot Squad can get arrested; the prank calls to 911 are more than sufficient if the DDoS attacks weren't enough.
It's damn good, and an interesting insight, though I'd have to say I disagree, albeit in the most respectful of ways. Still a preview of what's to come, even if it's a little game in its own way, and an amazing one at that.
@BertoFlyingFox Is there any evidence backing up those claims? They could just be making it up, "for the lolz." Not a your problem of course, but I've never heard of a hacking attack, and with DDoS attacks trending, you'd figure real hacking would've made headlines.
About time, though it wouldn't be the end of the world if it stayed this way. At least Ubisoft was ambitious, but even if it isn't Battlefield 4 bad I can't say that makes this acceptable. Be lucky you guys have PS4, PC won't even run for me, you need some Chuck Norris-type **** to run it. Horribly optimized, another reason to use Steam and Orgin instead of Uplay.
@Mrskinner I heard it's actually pretty good assuming you don't encounter one of the bigger glitches like some have. For most it works to some degree, and the game itself is excellent. They rushed it out for the November craze, shoulda delayed it to at least December, it would've been more polished then and people would've appreciated it more.
@get2sammyb At least they tried on PS4. I refuse to get it on PC, and unlike PS4, I don't think they'll ever fix or optimize that version. The second I heard that I knew they either wanted to shut the fanboy wars down in the dumbest way possible, wanted to ensure it actually ran on the Xbox One, or maybe even paid by MS the same way Nvidia did on PC.
They may love it, but are they willing to bet on it? At least do what MS did for the Windows Phone and make apps for it yourself if others don't want to, like Netflix. Lowering memory card prices, marketing the PS TV, and potentially bringing GTA to the Vita would help, though the latter is quite an investment. A port of V, or preferably a New 3DS / Vita (and therefore PSTV) original title would be nice, though extremely unlikely.
@ShogunRok Damn. Takes me back to Assassin's Creed 3 and that first battle sequence on the ship where the guy started glitching out after the battle cutscene. Quite the comical end to a staged sequence.
Forget the MS paid Ubisoft conspiracies, this is just an unpolished gem rushed out for the holiday season, like Assassin's Creed 3. I might get it for my PC when it goes on sale along with the patches and mod potential.
Why not both? Kinda burns that I supported them and now they're supporting all but even the new 3DS. I'll still buy it however, and one handheld iteration is better than none. Crudely makes up for the first one skipping Vita.
@Gamer83 I know. 5 million dollars? That's BS. 5 million dollars over a technicality that he probably didn't even notice until reading Digital Foundry. I don't really care that Mario Kart 7 was marketed as running 60 FPS in 3D in both SP & MP, despite a rare drop rendering multiple explosions and occasional kart lag. If I could sue Nintendo over that, then America has no hope in its justice system. Maaaybe Aliens: Colonial Marines, but this? Ridiculous.
Kinda saw it coming. Sad it ended like this, but at least the PS TV might bring some games to this. At least there's lots of indie games & JRPGs, and it makes me kinda glad I didn't get one of these.
I expected better, but it doesn't look bad either. Just that that looks like how Resident Evil Revelations on 3DS is in comparison to PC; you'd expect Vita to come closer since it has more processing power. It'll be a decent port at the least, but it certainly doesn't look like it'll be amazing.
@shingi_70 I dislike how they've been doing this lately on some of the Nintendo Life sites, etc. Pure Xbox hasn't really done this, though that place is a bit dead in general. I wouldn't mind seeing some criticism just to push for improvements, such as more Vita games, no forced Kinect (it's not something most people want to use), finishing Nintendo Network accounts, & Nintendo giving incentives for more 3rd party support.
I loved that second image. I like Xbox, but Halo may not be enough to keep me on board considering how Sony's stepping it up this gen & Nintendo's working on some good games. Microsoft is stupid to force you to buy Kinect. For $100, we might at least get something most people want to use, like the Wii U gamepad. I understand the whole people wouldn't support it otherwise argument they have, but it just isn't worth it.
I grew up w/ a Dualshock controller. But now, I wave a certain stick around, and w/ no glowing orb. Still, I kinda like the PS3, and if there wasn't the Wii U announced, I would have gotten a PS3.

@3Above Thanks for the correction. I know it wasn't Capcom; if it was them, it'd have on-disc DLC.

@JaxonH Sony ported it though. Therefore, all will be forgiven when Uncharted 4 drops.
