You are guaranteed 1 PS5 game and 2 PS4 games a month. How freaking hard is that for you people to understand! People weren’t constantly complaining when we were getting 2 PS3 games and 1 PS4 game but people did not yet own a PS4. Go on the PS phone app or PSstore on computer and add it to your library, so when you do get a PS5 you have it. HOW GODDAMN HARD IS THAT TO DO!!!
Man, people in the gaming community do nothing but whine these days. I will say, besides online play Microsoft’s second biggest contribution to the industry has been turning gamers and gaming media in to cheap whiny bi**hes!
No issue for me since I got the platinum trophies for both PS4 games. Oh, and yeah. I am that person that plans to pay $10 just to get another easy platinum. 🏆
Disney is sure milking the crap out of Marvel and Star Wars. Let’s all cheer for market consolidation!
This is what the gaming Industry will look like in a few years with popular IPs. Ten different games being developed for each popular franchise at the same time.
Talk about innovation and creativity at its best. /s
What freakin’ joke! How is Microsoft any different than Apple, Google and Amazon? They’re all big tech companies. This guy must’ve been dropped on his head as child.
Phil is definitely top d-bag in the gaming industry.
Personally, I’m seeing at least a 6/10 here. I’ll be buying it on release. Looks very interesting even if gameplay is a little clunky, I can live with it, and still love it. A lot of Suda 51 games were that way and I loved every one of them.
Desperate? That's a little too much hyperbole. Lol! I'd be desperate for a lunge or kidney if I needed a transplant but not a video game.
I would however like it to come to PSVR2 if I decided to get one.
Pretty soon you'll have to pay a subscription for every publisher. Multiple subscriptions is a complete waste of money. I can literally buy used physical games or wait for digital storefront sales and save more money than paying for subscriptions.
People think the value in these subscriptions is so great because they keep comparing them to new games prices when in reality, there are more options than buying games at full price.
Personally, I think there is more value in being patient than paying for recurring subs or full priced games.
I also like to own my games (preferably physical copy) to play anytime I want, versus having do long gaming sessions in hopes I can finish the game before it leaves a service, because I just don't have the time that crap.
@Royalblues How about neither. I’d rather they stay independent and get funded by third-party publishers for their own projects. But, that’s not reality.
Personally, I could give a crap less what Tencent chooses to buy. The US has people dying from crime and gun violence everyday and nobody gives a sh*t enough to change anything, but I’m suppose to care about what China is doing? Yeah. Don’t care.
@mcslooter If everybody is just salty about Deathloop because Arkane is owned by MS now, than why is nobody salty about Psychonauts 2 being on that list? The developer of that game is owned by MS now. Maybe, I don't know, a lot of people just don't feel it's good enough to be GOTY.
Tales of Arise and Returnal should be on the GOTY list over Deathloop and Ratchet & Clank. And, that's coming from a huge R&C fan. Deathloop also nominated for Best Narrative? Um, no. Deathloop would be my nomination for "Most Overrated Game" award.
I don’t know why people are so up in arms about Sony releasing older games on PC, especially when a sequel is right around the corner. This to me signals that Sony is aware their strength is in their exclusives portfolio and they are playing to their strength.
I’m sure Sony feels that their games are good enough that if people play them on PC and the sequel is locked to PS4/PS5 that those PC players won’t want to wait 2-3 years to play the sequel and go out and purchase a console to play them on. Seems like a logical conclusion to me.
When games start getting released day and date with PC then it’s concerning, but until then people’s doom and gloom is just hyperbole.
Obviously, streaming games to circumvent the need for hardware has always been the end game. It’s never been a question if it will happen, but when. The tech still has far to much latency and ISP providers prices and/or data caps are still an obstacle.
Personally, once I no longer have the ability to at least play games on local hardware is the day I’m done with video games. You don’t buy physical media for PC but at least it’s still on local hardware. Streaming from cloud = no ownership whatsoever.
@vhsodre Yeah, beating the Zealot mode is the last trophy I need for the Platinum. The problem is you are only allowed to save 3 times throughout the whole play through. So, I just need to find time to do a complete play through in one sitting.
I've been trying to play Dead Space 2 online but have only encountered one other person. I usually logon to check every other day but don't come across anyone. I was surprised to see their were still decent amount of people playing Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
I do still play PS3 in general a couple times a week. Currently Playing through FUSE, Drakengard 3 and need to play through Dead Space 2 on Zealot difficulty. I still have a lot of love for my PS3.
I thought The Initiative was suppose to be some high profile team that was going to produce “AAAA” titles? Now they need to bring in support from third-party developers? First 343 with Halo and now this. I really question Microsoft’s ability to manage their games development studios. If things were going well with Perfect Dark, no way would they contract outside help.
Pre-ordered the Collectors Edition. Don’t have it yet but it was nice of Bandai Namco to give free digital codes for those who didn’t receive it on time. I never miss the opportunity to pre-order the CE when it comes to Y’s, Trails and Tales series of games. They are easily my favorite games.
It was good. Project Eve looks badass! KOTOR remake is an awesome surprise as well. I really didn't need to see Deathloop again. At this point it feels like Sony is just beating a dead horse by showing it. God of War is always a welcome contribution to any presentation.
@Widey85 I agree. I would think most people that buy these collectors editions rarely trade them in. I usually splurge on these collectors editions and very, very rarely have I traded one in, so I assume most people buy them as collectibles like myself. Sony is really showing how little they understand their consumer base. It’s sad Sony seems to little by little want to kill the second hand market. Next step will be to just sell cases of all their games with no discs.🤦
I’m a huge proponent of physical media, so I’m insulted by the the lack of a disc when you fork out money for a more expensive collectors edition. I mean, what hell is that about!? That’s ridiculous!!!😡 I’ll wait to play this when I find a used copy, I guess.
@trev666 Yeah, looks like a pretty strong lineup of titles to me! I think that’s more than fair value for a $60 a year fee. Heck, I got a year of PS Plus for $25 so I’m golden.
I think there are a lot of people confusing giving their opinions with blatant whining.
@SplooshDmg Squanch, yeah I do bro!😂 Maybe I’ll be disappointed, but I’d rather be excited about something and move on than be excited about nothing at all.
That’s clearly Silent Hill music with a slight change and the figure walking is wearing Harry Masons clothes, combined with the exact same walking sound effect from Silent Hill. Silent Hill is a psychological horror game, and it’s being advertised in a psychological mind f**k way. It’s going to be a Silent Hill remake! No doubt about it! The music is straight up from Silent Hill!
Blue Box Studio has also pulled all content from their YouTube channel. This thing is getting ridiculous. It’s clearly a setup for something big to be revealed because there’s to much B.S. surrounding this dumb thing. It is starting to grow tiresome so I hope it doesn’t go on much longer.
@LiamCroft Just curious, where are you seeing the price for the digital version? The only thing I can find on the US PS store is the free demo but no pre-order option? I google searched it and can’t find digital prices neither.
@Tatarimokke I have a physical PS5 copy pre-ordered and it has a release date of 8/27/21? Also, I paid $39.99 and the article states it’s $19.99?
I think the article is mistaken and only the PS4 version is releasing at a later date. I could also see the PS4 version costing $19.99 compared to the $39.99 PS5 version.
@Flaming_Kaiser JRPG’s are my favorite genre. I’m currently working on the Nier remaster and Trails of Cold Steel. The last RPG I finished was Y’s: Memories of Celceta on PS4 and played through till I got the Platinum. Great game by the way! I’m seriously not sure I can get through my backlog before I die. lol! I got the Platinum in Dynasty Warriors 7 and that took forever, so I can just imagine the time sink Orochi 4 is. There’s quite a few more characters in those games, too
@Flaming_Kaiser I hear you, man. Not a fan of online games myself. Heck, I haven’t played an online only game since Warframe and I haven’t played that, since like, the second year into the PS4’s life cycle. I guess, I’m thinking this game will just be an extra offering on top of their normal PS+ offerings. Hopefully that’s the case.
@Shepherd_Tallon I concur. Moss: Book II was easily the most exciting part of the showings for me.
I also thought F.I.S.T. along with the September release date was great! I think Tribes of Midgard looks unique and fun. Especially, at a price of $19.99. Wish it was getting more love but I get that it’s kind of a niche game.
@Flaming_Kaiser I don’t think it is F2P, though. I’m pretty sure it’s like $20 on Steam early access? That’s what I thought I remember seeing it on Steam for. I could be wrong though.
Don’t get me wrong, not saying having to pay money will make it any better of a game. I just think Sony is investing something to give this to PS+ users, whether it’s good or bad.
@Olmaz I agree. I tend to avoid online only games as well, but it’s nice to see a melee based game when we’re drowning in online shooters. The combat looked fun and it’s available with PS+ so no reason not to give it a chance.
I had very low expectations, so Moss: Book II was a great surprise. I’ve been waiting for more info on F.I.S.T., so finally nailing down a release window is great, as well. Sifu looks great as always but still a bit of a wait. I also thought Hunter’s Arena looked kinda cool and I don’t even like multiplayer/battle royale games. I do however love melee based games so, I might dig it. Oh yeah, and Tribes of Midgard for $19.99 gets a pre-order from me!
At least the smaller games delivered, because I sure as hell knew Deathloop wasn’t gonna. It wasn’t a great showing, but it was good.
I usually watch these but the fact that Sony specifically says it's a deep dive for Deathloop, I'm gonna have to pass on watching live. I'll wait and watch the stuff I'm interested in later on gaming websites.
I do hope to get some unknown stuff announced from smaller developers. A look at Arcadegeddon that was just rated in Korea and Taiwan by the studio that developed Predator: Hunting Grounds would be cool!
I think this article points out why a service like Game Pass may not be healthy for the industry. Product devaluation. Games like these being on a subscription service will have a trickle-down effect to all other platforms. Imagine when xCloud becomes available on other devices than Xbox, and you no longer have to pay for dedicated hardware. Hell, nobody will buy those games and people will just pay a month of Game Pass to play a game then drop the subscription.
I think as publishers and developers experiment with the financial ramifications of Game Pass I think we'll see less of them want to put their games on the service day and date of release and opt to wait for sales to dry up before putting games on Game Pass.
I understand the value of Game Pass for consumers but can't see how there won't be problems when sales of games are not meeting expectations across the board on the publisher and developers side. Obviously, this is a Microsoft game so more subs doesn't affect the bottom line, but won't be true for 3rd party games.
Wasn’t interested in this game when it was first announced, and nothing State of Play shows will make me interested. Never played Dishonored or Prey franchises and never intend to. Really, the only Bethesda published games I’ve played are DOOM. Personally, I find the new DOOM games to not be as good as DOOM 3 because I prefer the horror atmosphere.
I wish Sony would have spent the money from these timed exclusive deals on some good Japanese game content, exclusive or timed, but preferably supporting a creative smaller studio for an exclusive unique experience.
This issue doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the PS3 and Vita store closures. I think $20 for the DLC is fine and the $10 for a PS5 upgrade sucks, but doesn’t really get me to heated. I payed $46 for Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima together during an Amazon sale, so basically with the DLC and PS5 upgrade I’ll only have spent around $52.50 on it in total.
Also, people act like they’re being forced to pay $30 for the DLC and PS5 upgrade, but at the end of the day, that’s a choice to buy it at full price right at release. You always have the option to wait for a sale or decrease in price. Nobody has a gun to your head forcing you to buy luxury products at full price.
I swear, patience is becoming an extinct human trait.
Sounds like the guy has a serious case of victim complex. Should he be able to change the price of his game at anytime on the PS Store? Absolutely. The rest of his grievances come off as a guy looking to point the finger at someone else for his own failings.
I mean, I think at this point we’re already playing the game. It’s just not a video game, and not a very good game neither. Sweet thing is we’re all in it! Lol!!
@ShogunRok Always found the story and character development, or lack there of, in God Eater the downside for those games. As for combat not being all-out action like God Eater; that makes complete sense.
Might have to give it a go then. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
@ShogunRok
Reading your review, it not only looks a lot like God Eater series, but the recycled enemies and repetitive combat elements sure sounds similar, as well. Would it be accurate to say Scarlett Nexus is similar to God Eater with deeper story elements? Or is it deeper in combat and enemy variation as well?

Sounds like the guy has a serious case of victim complex. Should he be able to change the price of his game at anytime on the PS Store? Absolutely. The rest of his grievances come off as a guy looking to point the finger at someone else for his own failings.

@feral1975 Thanks for heads up! I’m gonna go check that out.
Re: Abandoned Trailer App Delayed Yet Again, This Time to August
I mean, I think at this point we’re already playing the game. It’s just not a video game, and not a very good game neither. Sweet thing is we’re all in it! Lol!!
Personally, I find this whole thing very amusing.
Re: Trails of Cold Steel Sequel Trails into Reverie Comes West on PS4 in 2023

Re: Scarlet Nexus (PS5) - 'Brain Punk' RPG Gets a Lot Right, But Ends Up Feeling Stunted
@ShogunRok Always found the story and character development, or lack there of, in God Eater the downside for those games. As for combat not being all-out action like God Eater; that makes complete sense.
Might have to give it a go then. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Re: Scarlet Nexus (PS5) - 'Brain Punk' RPG Gets a Lot Right, But Ends Up Feeling Stunted
@ShogunRok
