As it stands, most companies put themselves into this situation, Sony included. The semiconductors are still being made at full factory capacity, however the companies who need them reduced their orders on them because of "forecasted shortfalls in sales". So the factories just allocated their orders to others who wanted them. This has been made public a few times over the past 2 years. So in essence, there is no shortfall of semiconductors, but rather the companies screwed up big time on their own orders and are now paying for it. Which in turn affects the consumers (us). This will not change until the current orders are fulfilled and the affected companies can be allowed to increase their orders back to their original numbers.
Sony already owns Funimation, so why is Crunchyroll so special to add it to PS+? If anything, they should just merge Funi and CR together first, then offer package deals that include all three services... Any combo of PS+/Now/Funi. You get a discount if you sub to two of them, an even bigger one for all three.
I cant remember when the last time I actually played, never mind downloaded, a PS+ game on my system. I barely play games online either, just once in a while with a few select friends. Even the reduction in sale prices are non existent anymore. I am on the verge of dropping Plus because it adds no value to me. $70/year rental fee is no longer a good value.
@Flaming_Kaiser As I said, subjective. I found the story weak. People mainly remember it because of nastalgia of it being it the "First big 3D FF game", or because it was their entry game into the franchise/genre. Missing out on many superior games on the SNES.
"No one really cares about a game that is only okay." Yet everybody seems to remember FF7, for example.
"Best" has always been subjective. Personally most of these "best games" that get high scores, I find boring or just plain don't like. People will remember games that left an impression on them because of personal tastes, not because somebody else praised/over-hyped it.
I for one have enjoyed many games that so-called reviewers panned, or have not sold well overall. Because of an accident I have had recently (fractured my hip), I have had nothing but time on my hands. So in the end I have found myself playing many of my retro games... NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, etc... Revisiting them again has left much more of an impression than majority of the games made today.
Jim Ryan reminds me of many kids today, where only new is better, screw anything that he does not like himself.
@WolfKingk87 With that said, what exactly has Sony had that has been original to begin with? Everything they have done has been copied from somebody else.
The game itself is good. It is easy to spend hours killing time when you first start playing. But once you are caught up on everything, it is a bit of a grind to find any enjoyment sometimes because of how monotonous it becomes until something new shows up. I am at AR 56, and I mostly just login to do my dailies at this point, hoping there is some event to do throughout the week too.
For the characters, I have most of them, but personally don't care for the gatcha system. I just keep doing what I can and earn the free (and sometimes abundant) Primogems and do the 10x draws. So you can gain a few characters at the beginning at least. The Battle Pass system also helps if it is something as well if you wish to go through with it.
The best part about this game though, it does not force you into paying for it. While it may help, it is easy enough for somebody to not spend a penny and continue to get something out of it.
@tanaka2687 How is the PS5 version compared to the PS4? Especially on the loading end.
I find the store complete garbage compared to what it was. Now it is slow, lacking most of what the previous store had for options, and highly aggravating. Half the time game pages stop loading half way through. Missing video clips of games, kinda needed for people who have no idea what a game is about and want to see what the game play is like. No links on the game pages to their respected DLC. When you search for it, It is more of a headache because it shows other unrelated games as well. Randomly logs me out when changing pages.
Those are just some of the things I have noticed. Tried it on different browsers. I tried, really tried, to give it a chance. The latest "update" (if you can call it that) that added sorting was a big plus to me, at least it wont look like something that was just randomly thrown together and makes it easier to browse through. Yet it is not enough for me to give it a passing grade since it is still currently a downgrade from before.
But I have to thank Sony though. Thanks to the new store, I have yet to buy anything from the PSN, so I have saved money in the long run.
I don't get how Sony can be so backwards whenever they do something "new". Be it the OS for a new system, or this so-called Store update. If you had something prior and you change/update something, it should be an automatic given that those options should remain afterwards as well. Removing them to anger your user base just to re-add them months down the road is a bit counterproductive to say the least.
IMO, whoever is making these decisions needs to be smacked in the back of the head to knock some sense into them.
I have the same impression from both the original (when it first came out) and the remake... Overrated. They are by no means bad games, but they are not "the best" either. Higher average at best.
The remake, while visually good (mostly, many parts dropped down very noticeable low-res on a 75" TV), it was long and drawn out trying to make the original's first disc feel like a full 50+ hour game. Not to mention the story line changes that were unnecessary and will have impacts to future events when future "chapters" come out.
Adding new content I would have no problems with, expanding on what was already there. But to introduce new characters and/or elements earlier than when they should have ruins it for me.
Personally, I have never used the wishlist. All I want is to have the sort features to return. Right now it is a painful mess to try and browse the page that looks like it was randomly thrown together with zero organization at all. I used to use the webpage for anything store related in the past, but since the change, I have only ever gone on the psn store for my PS+ monthly games. Wont be shopping it again while it is under its current layout.
The only update from Sony I want to hear is them fixing their crappy PSN store website. As for the PS4, at this late stage I cant see many (if any) actual improvements with the end of its life cycle approaching.
When it comes to 3rd party deliveries, you are putting quite a bit of faith and trust into many people along the line for said deliveries. More often than not you hear about these horror stories of mail being stolen. Be it from porch pirates, the delivery drivers themselves, or somebody who worked the many different sorting lines the items go through. The element of you not getting your package (in some cases, even simple mail) is always very high with not enough checks and balances in place to deal with it. When ordering something that is highly sought after (and expensive enough to make a profit on), you are taking a risk every time.
Yet on the flip side, scammers who do get their packages could easily, and many times do, claim they never got it in the first place. This issue goes both way, sadly.
To get Bugsnax, I was unable to get it through the PS+ tab on the website (that redesign is so crappy, whoever OK'd it should be fired), but had to manually search for the game and get it that way for some reason.
So I take it the only way, at this current time, to get the collection is to get it through the PS5 store? Cause I do not see any other way at the moment. If it is PS5 store only, then that is a really crappy thing to do (funny though cause I asked about this a while back not long after the collection was announced).
While most likely not a main issue, I just blame their harsh censorship policies. Have heard of even the Japanese (or global for that matter) releases being forced to adhere to California censorship rules if they wanted to release on the PS system.
Probably not known yet, but any idea how it works to have your user account on multiple systems? PS3 had 3 systems you can be on, the PS4 has 2. Would the PS5 be sometime similar for those who get more than one system but want to share their account (and games) on them?
The sort and "released in the past 7 days" options were the two I used every time I looked to see what was new on the updates. Now, it is such a friggin mess that I cannot stand to even bother going there anymore. Saying it is disorganized is being polite. Not to mention when I went to the PS+ page to get the new downloads, it opened up a new tab on to sign up for the PS+ instead.... Leave it to Sony to screw up something they already had complete. Now I simply wont even bother looking at the store anymore. In a way it is a good thing to save me money in the long run, plus allow me to catch up on my ever growing backlog.
@KidBoruto Yeah I treat all rumors as false, but never completely ignore them either. I would never put it past some companies to actually do some of the crap I hear about.
@KidBoruto While that is what I assumed, there was a rumor I heard from a friend (take it as you will, as unlikely as it is), that to get the collection, it is required to have the PS5. This is what lead to my statement.
@Arnna No, once you claim a game on PS+, it stays with you forever long as the program exists. But you need to be subscribed in order to access any games you do get under it. They will never be rotated out under the current setup.
Not to be "That Guy", but almost half those games have been on the PS+ already. Sucks for the long time subscribers, but this is excellent for those who are just getting into it now.
Batman: Arkham Knight Bloodborne Detroit: Become Human inFAMOUS: Second Son Ratchet & Clank The Last of Us Remastered Until Dawn Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Since the PS5 is going to be difficult to come by for the next while, or even for those who are holding off, I wonder if we can claim this collection without the new system.
I picked up the 3 Cold Steel games a few months back on sale. Currently on my 2nd play-through of game 2 (working on my 3rd ever plat), so hoping to be on 3 in the next week or 2. So far I have been loving it, and highly enjoying the character interactions. Sure there are a few gripes, but overall, I recommend the series so far.
Never really got the obsession with the Trophy/Achievement systems. Sure some could use it as bragging rights, but other than that, some of them are just so stupid. "Finished Tutorial" or "Finished Chapter 1"... There is no need to have those IMO, they are like those "Participation ribbons" that get handed out to others just for showing up so they don't get upset for winning nothing. I hardly call standard game progress as an achievement. If you do something challenging or special, then perhaps. Then there are some games that are almost impossible to get some due to multiplayer issues (servers long gone or "Have to play against somebody who has **** trophy already").
Personally, I actually just got my 2nd Platinum a few days ago out of my 1890 trophies collected. Have a number of games that are sitting with just a few to go (mainly challenge type parts left, like in Spiderman and the Hunters Lodge ones in HZD). I got my monies worth plaything them, but never any desire to go back to get those last bits. With many more to go that way as well.
Nothing would be affected anytime soon anyways. Right after the reports of the buy happened, there was a statement that stated:
"Microsoft said the ZeniMax deal will close in the second half of fiscal year 2021, and have minimal impact on adjusted operating income in fiscal years 2021 and 2022."
Meaning, there is nothing MS can really do until the deal is finalized. So until that time it is just operations as per norm for everybody. For the time being, Bethesda will still be doing multi ports of their games without worries.
I say this is less about EA and more about the editors of the magazine. EA just buys ad space wherever it can, it is up to the magazine itself on what it does and does not allow.
Ratings boards are idiotic these days. What was once acceptable is not anymore by certain groups. For me growing up during the 80's as a kid, PG or PG-13 rated stuff back then would be considered M or R now in many cases, for example. Basically I ignore the ratings and judge by what I see for myself. Some countries are WAY more strict than others as it is too, so this provisional rating could just be a placeholder until the come is completed for a proper rating review, which in turn would probably be rated higher than it should be anyways.
Don't let other tell you what to think about these games, even on the ratings, just judge for yourself when the time comes.
All the price hike means to me is that I wont be buying anything new anymore. Will stick to purely psn sales. On the plus side, gives me more time to chip away at my backlog. As for the system pricing itself, being Canadian, it is rather pricey. So wont be getting an upgrade anytime soon.
Honestly didn't even know we were suppose to get anything while progressing through the game. I beat it months ago, but looking at what I have now, I never received anything from the game.
You would think that after years of crap like this they would figure out by now to disable reviews to games that have not been released yet. And keep it off for at least a few days after the release, only having the first few days open to legitimate game reviews (some of them are skewed enough as it is already) before opening up to the public comments.
Reasons like this is why I have not once paid any attention to Metacritic or anything else that gives "review scores". If a game actually caught my eye to begin with, then I look into some of the critic comments, but don't let it influence my interests just because somebody else did not like it. Some people put way too much faith into this system and cannot think for themselves.
"Free" is when you do not have to pay for something and keep it. The moment you stop paying for PS+, you stop having access to those "free" games. Which in turn you lose the "free" term on it.
Call it BS or whatever you wish, but the main fact remains, calling it "free" is misleading in the end. It is a digital rental that is tied in with online access. It is only ever "free" if you still get to keep it while not paying for it anymore.
I replayed that part for my 10 yr old daughter, and she understood what was going on without needing explanations. She even explained it to me when I asked her to. Funny how a young child was able to get it when it "wasn't spelled out to them".
Cloud is a dick, however in this case it was intentional to get the old man to start doing things on his own again. As stated before this is a common reoccuring theme in Japanese games and anime. I thought it was rather obvious after seeing that scene myself what the intent was with how he presented himself to the old man. If that scene was to be rewritten so that people would understand it better, I think it would be worse off and lose the effect it has now. Much like having to explain jokes to people.
As mentioned before, with the Toad King quest, he states that he is not cheap, but makes a "special discount" of 3 gil to help out the kids. That in itself is also a lesson to tell them that things are not free.
I was going to pick up the new system as it was, but it was never going to be within the first 6 months of launch. The video did nothing in me wanting it any sooner. As hard as it was to stay awake to watch it, it did not change my mind either way. The video was no different than the rumors that float around, gets peoples hopes up for nothing once it was over.
All I got out of it was "We are testing this" or "We are testing that". Almost sounds like they haven't finalized any hardware yet for the system. It is still in the experimental stage on many aspects.

Re: After The Last of Us 2's Review Bombing Scandal, Metacritic Paused Ghost of Tsushima Verdicts
Re: Poll: Which Version of the PS5 Do You Plan to Buy?
Neither, waiting on a new color scheme for the system, then will go with the standard physical drive eventually.
Re: PS Plus Has Given Out Over 1,000 Free Games Since Launching
"Free" is when you do not have to pay for something and keep it. The moment you stop paying for PS+, you stop having access to those "free" games. Which in turn you lose the "free" term on it.
Call it BS or whatever you wish, but the main fact remains, calling it "free" is misleading in the end. It is a digital rental that is tied in with online access. It is only ever "free" if you still get to keep it while not paying for it anymore.
Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Cloud Goes From Hero to Zero in a Single Side Quest
I replayed that part for my 10 yr old daughter, and she understood what was going on without needing explanations. She even explained it to me when I asked her to. Funny how a young child was able to get it when it "wasn't spelled out to them".
Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Cloud Goes From Hero to Zero in a Single Side Quest
Re: Poll: Do You Plan on Buying a PS5 After Sony's Deep Dive Video?
I was going to pick up the new system as it was, but it was never going to be within the first 6 months of launch. The video did nothing in me wanting it any sooner. As hard as it was to stay awake to watch it, it did not change my mind either way. The video was no different than the rumors that float around, gets peoples hopes up for nothing once it was over.
Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Live Up to the Hype?
All I got out of it was "We are testing this" or "We are testing that". Almost sounds like they haven't finalized any hardware yet for the system. It is still in the experimental stage on many aspects.
Re: Ah, Crap - The Uncharted Movie Has Been Delayed Again
The movie version of the Duke Nukem Forever production here?
Re: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Opening Movie Is Pure Nostalgic Hype
When DBZ aired here, we got the Rock The Dragon opening. It was quite a few years later before I heard any of the other themes.
