PS Plus Collection Announced for PS5 Launch, Subscribers Get Access to Blockbuster PS4 Games

Makes me think I might not need the disk drive version of ps5 at the very least...

I already own every game that they showed other than BF lol I wonder tho will there be any specific PS5 enhancements for these specific games come launch date ?

I would maybe expect these games may have been touched up ready for the ps5maybe? But c’mon they haven’t even touched on PS NOW I mean if I can download ps3 games like I can Ps4 and it has more options and one price across the board that will make me happy!

This is a great way to get new people into the ecosystem, especially with the digital-only version of the console.

Imagine skipping PS4 and then getting access to this on PS5.

Good idea maybe then I can get some of the plus games I missed and didn't want to buy and its great if you are new to Ps plus

This will be great value to some, a yawner to others who have already played them. It's a great step in the right direction for Sony to make though, hope it continues and grows

This is definitely a step in the right direction, I don't see anything to complain about here even if you have these particular games. I imagine this list will continue to grow over time...great job Sony ✌️

@HotGoomba I’ve had a PS4 since launch window...I haven’t played many of these. I’ve played some a ton, but either way-it’s a great service. Plus it gives anyone buying a ps5 and ps+ a great collection day 1 no matter what. Nice!

Good selection though, will be interesting to see how they perform on PS5.

This is fantastic in that I played about half of those on the PS4 and have wanted the other half, but never got around to buying them. Now I get them "for free" on PS5. I wonder if these are downloaded to the system or streamed. Also wondering about DLC. An example being, do we get Iceborne with Monster Hunter? Also curious about trophies, I assume they are just PS4 games in your trophy log, but who knows. Anyway, I'm excited. This will help when I only buy a PS5 with 1 or 2 new games.

And hopefully unlike Game Pass the games don't go away despite you remaining subbed.

I like the concept, and there are some great games on there, but seriously how many people that are going to get a PS5 at launch do not already have the titles they want from this list?

I am sure there are some, but I prefer when Sony gives out lesser known titles, at least there is a chance I don't already have it!

I like they did this you can access them for free with plus, its a start. Many would have wanted ps plus and now in one bundle me included which would have been great tbf.

@Gremio108 a few of them were monthly games; Ratchet, Bloodborne & Arkham definitely were. Uncharted 4 was one I think but Sony also gave it away when lockdowns started happening this year.

Basically, expect everything from the current PlayStation Hits line up to eventually find it's way to this.

Not to be mr negative but I feel this really devalues ps now and a lot have been on plus already. Good for people new to PlayStation but not for old timers.

Nice to know but doesn’t even scratch the surface of the PS4 library. I was under the impression we were going to have full ps4 backwards compatibility if not digital than at least physical?? Bad enough the rumors of BC for Psone, 2 & 3 never materialized

That is a very star-studded lineup at no additional cost to PS+ subscribers. I wonder how these titles run on the PS5 as far as framerate and resolution?

From what I understand it is a free add-on for PS5 PS+ subscribers only. Kinda like a “best of” from the previous generation to start off PS5 owners with some quality titles.

I would have liked to see more games on this list. Most are ps4 classics and go on sale quite often so not a lot of dollar value. Still some great games if you haven't got them already. I hope this isnt just a launch bonus and will be expanded A LOT in the future.

I hope FF15 is the Royal Edition. Probably not based on PS Now.

For people with PS4s:

Meh. If you have a ps4, odds are you have played most of these games.

That's an outrageously solid collection. In comparison, I look over the list of games on Game Pass and I don't get excited about any of them.

Wonder if it would be possible to transfer over the PS4 save files for those games instead of having to restart from scratch.

This is great, pretty cool to get these games for free on day 1. That being said, this still can’t touch gamepass honestly.
I am also truly surprised to hear that some of the big launch games are coming to ps4 as well.

Demon’s souls is the only big game I’d be getting a ps5 for. Might wait until next holiday season at this point.

I am worried about the disk space.

Of the 17 games, only 8 have been free on PS+. 2 were free in 2017, 2 in 2018, 3 in 2019, and 1 in 2020. A lot of them have been discounted pretty heavily at some points, but only 8 were free. This is a good deal for anyone who missed out on any of these 17 games, and chances are there is at least 1 per person they can play now that they wouldn't have otherwise.

@PretendWorking Launch is suppose to be the early adopting hardcore audience. Sure, this is a great deal for younglings whose balls are just beginning to drop or excommunicated xbox fans.

For the majority of the people on this site, its a nonstarter.

It looks good if you skipped PS4... and nobody skipped PS4. If you already subscribe it's a nice bonus if you haven't played some of the few games included.

Game Pass is way way better.

@joey302 There is full backwards compatibility for PS4. They are just giving these games for free as bonus for PlayStation plus subscribers.

@Turbodream Apples to oranges. This is a value for PS+ and should be compared to Xbox Live Gold.

PSNow is a completely separate thing Sony has to compete with Gamepass.

this is why you can now "buy" games redeemed thru PS+. Pretty sure ones you haven't purchased won't be accessible on PS5 unless you buy them there or they're part of the "collection". Also maybe free monthly PS4 games won't be part of PS+ outside of the "collection"

A lot of crap i already have. Screw Sony. Spent £1000s and £1000s on there equipment and can't even get a pre order. They can go f**k themselves

Better than PS Now that's for sure. Subscribed for the wife as she likes some of the old ps 2 games but what a rip off for £8.99 a month compared to what I get for £3.99 a month on Gamepass for PC.

Not certain but all signs lead the way. Allowing people their entire PS+ back catalog is a huge money loss from repurchase. The collection gives people the best of but other niche titles you'll need to use your PS4 or rebuy me thinks. Not confirmed by any means. We'll see.

As a PlayStation newbie coming from PC there are 12 games here in looking forward to trying out come September 19th

It's a hell of an enticement for those that perhaps skipped PS this gen. Some truly outstanding games on that list.

Nothing on Game Pass gets close just a lot of Indies and AA games.

... so what about PS Now subscribers? Many of these games are already on Now.. will it be merged? Will PS Now get more games to replace these? What value has PS Now got? Who knows? Sony isn't telling us... honestly... it's feeling more and more like the PS3 release all over again... after getting it right this gen.. they've completely dropped the ball for the next gen - completely reverted to taking its consumers for granted and messing them around (pre-orders? what pre-orders?)...

There's 4 games on that list that I never bought, but will play, so it's another big yes for me. Sony has judged this launched perfectly from my perspective.

This is a great deal but I have many of these games on ps4 apart from days gone, last guardian, ratchet and clank and persona 5 so I'll download those games at least, I'm still buying the disc version of ps5 tho.

@joey302 Sony have said that 99% of PS4 games are backwards compatible. This is a list of games that are free on PS5 to download day one, if you have PS Plus.

No interest in the collection since I already own most of these games, but this is good news for newcomers!

Great news this a nice little"thank you" from Sony does anyone know if this little collection is November specific ie gone as soon as it's December or if it's permanent considering a possible demand outstripping supply situation millions of players may be let down if that's the case
