If my level is 70 now, what will it be after the update?

I can’t quite understand if the levels from the bronze to gold trophies mean some are more valuable than others or whether it’s progress towards the overall trophy. I assume the former?

Doesnt this dilute the value of the plat more? I believe it's current 2x the value of the gold. Here with the lowest possible value of a gold being 600 and a plat being 999 isnt that less value?

I have 6 plats. I have awful patience so there’s a few games with 1 or 2 trophies left that I just can’t bring myself to do.

Is level 999 even possible? Do you have to plat every single game you've played to achieve that? And how many games?

If the person in the pic with only 24 plats and 2k trophies lands on lvl 294, I expect the top trophy hunters reach the cap of lvl999 instantly.

@Jayslow This update doesn't change the value of each individual Trophy you unlock. It's a change to your overall trophy level. A Platinum Trophy is worth more now because it'll increase your level more than it did before.

So, so happy they are actually thinking about updating the trophy system!!!!!! (Seriously, that is not sarcasm).

Hopefully trophy tracking is on the way, and leaderboards, and yes, it’s really good if Plats are worth more.

@manux59 Those are the new Trophy levels, not the singular worth of a single Bronze, Silver, and Gold Trophy.

Was already wondering why the first pic still had the original designs in the UI and the second pic didn't.

I think this is a good move. It’ll mean faster moving through the levels which will make obtaining trophies more addictive for people.

A good cosmetic move by Sony that should positively affect players.

@Jayofmaya I’m also level 16! Got my 6th platinum a few days ago in Jak and Daxter for Vita. Eventually I’ll get that last trophy in R6 Siege and FFXV 😂

We need to know the scaling. I’m a mediocre trophy hunter -level 30, 90 plats - but going by the scaling above I could already be 999. We need scaling all the way up, not the same number of points needed per level beyond a certain point.

I didn't know we have trophy levels, I though we only have total number of trophy.

I'm only lvl 19 I use PSNProfiles.com to keep track of my trophies.
Most of my games are far from platinum lvl. I am not a serious trophy hunter but really enjoy that we have them.

Now if only they god rid of online trophies on single player games. At least separate them from the offline ones. I don't want to play Red Dead Online to get the RDR2 platinum for example.

How I read it is they will weight basically exp of your level of things like rarity. That my Name is My Mayo Plat should be worth less than a Monster Hunter World Plat for instance

Presumably trophies earnt on my PS Vita will continue to work with the new system? Sony always make me nervous when they neglect to mention it!

Wow, the Platinum trophy icon got a massive downgrade.

Trophies is great. It's capable of keeping people on a particular console and not moving to the other, believe it or not. Glad it's getting an overhaul, just hoping it gets better and not meh. I got 9 Plats with more pending, coulda had them long time ago but taking my sweet time.

Im level 34 with 128 platinums.

When I originally read this I thought it was a solution to the level cap, but this really doesn't fix that. Im down for change though. Hopefully there just gearing up for more change when the 5 comes out.

They best still be shiny plats or I may have to go on strike and play games purely for enjoyment like it was the olden days again

@Clemerek Yeah, it's rubbish but that's the whole point. Rockstar want you to get addicted to thier online MTX filled world. It nets them billions every year.

@Feena Yeah like those trophies you get for basically turning on the game but the game sucks so you never go back to it.

Never really got the obsession with the Trophy/Achievement systems. Sure some could use it as bragging rights, but other than that, some of them are just so stupid. "Finished Tutorial" or "Finished Chapter 1"... There is no need to have those IMO, they are like those "Participation ribbons" that get handed out to others just for showing up so they don't get upset for winning nothing. I hardly call standard game progress as an achievement. If you do something challenging or special, then perhaps. Then there are some games that are almost impossible to get some due to multiplayer issues (servers long gone or "Have to play against somebody who has **** trophy already").

Personally, I actually just got my 2nd Platinum a few days ago out of my 1890 trophies collected. Have a number of games that are sitting with just a few to go (mainly challenge type parts left, like in Spiderman and the Hunters Lodge ones in HZD). I got my monies worth plaything them, but never any desire to go back to get those last bits. With many more to go that way as well.

I didn't even know I had a level lol.
I used to care about trophies back when the PS4 launched, now I'm just happy to find the time to finish the story off and more excited to move on to the next game on my list instead of finding all the collectables or whatever.

@get2sammyb Me as a college student can't imagine ever reaching anything close to 114 platinums. It's been 3 years and I've only gotten 1. No job yet either btw.

In the UK turning on the PS4 I am still level 45 at 69%.

Turning on the Vita it is updated, level 536 at 46% 😳

Looks like I’ll be very low 400. Currently half way through 30 with 90 plats. Interested in seeing how far plats now contribute, I’ve noted a few people with lower levels but more plats than me to see how we eventually compare.

@thefourfoldroot I can confirm that more plats can push someone who was below you up.

I went from lv52, 97% with 272 plats (1660 gold, 3388 silver, 6515 bronze) to lv580, 79%.
A random guy below me went from lv52, 86% with 290 plats (1150 gold, 3153 silver, 9758 bronze) to lv581, 40%, now above me.

Only level 20 with 17 platinums. I dont even know how i would get 100 plus platinums.

Honest question too everyone with a 100 plus platinums do you have a lot easy ones?

So he gained an an additional level, roughly mid way up the previous cap, with 18 more plats. That’s not much. I just watched a guy gain 1 level at level 700 to 7001 by platinum a game, and that included 14 silver and some bronze trophies too.
Seems it might only add a small amount, maybe and extra 100 points per plat.

I only have 90 but it’s not that hard if you’ve been collecting for 7 years like me. It mainly just depends on how long you have to play though.
I’m not really a trophy hunter, I only have a completion rate for getting plats in games, or 100% in them, of 40% because if I don’t like a game I stop playing even if I nearly have the plat. Others would keep playing for the plat even if they weren’t having fun. Some people have a 99% completion rate!

I have maybe around 6 easy plats, as in plats you can auto pop or get very quickly, and have others where it took me 100-200hrs to get the plat (mainly JRPGs).

It is s a partial solution to the level cap. You need around 160lv or so in the old system to reach 999lv now.

BUT.......... Trophy score doesn't really mean anything?
The only thing that i care about is my 162 Platinum count.
I dont know anybody that says I am level 58 with 688 gold trophies 2.2k Silver OR 8.1K bronze :-/

I'm currently on 90 Platinums, interesting to see where I'll end up. I do wsh they would allow us to delete games we don't intend to go back to with only a couple of unlocked trophies.

There are some games I tried and didn't like which look sad in my trophy cabinet.

As I posted above I had the new trophysystem when I posted. Played a little Squadrons and got the "Great shot kid"-trophy. When I went to update my trophylist it was back at the old level 36 again... seems buggy at the moment

I was lvl 15 (31% completion) with 21 plat and 1302 trophies now I'm at lvl 266 with 86% completion.

Seems like getting lvls will be a lot easier now at least until reaching the 300+ silver rank.

Am I the only one who doesn't hunt for trophies, but just sees them as a pleasant surprise when they pop up?

Is it bad that I've never given two hoots about trophies? There's two or three games that I've platinumed, but it was sort of incidental to me just playing and enjoying the game. I've got too many games in my backlog and not enough free time to worry about trophies.

If that's your thing though, then more power to you.

My level is 34 with 51 platinums, definitely going to be interesting to see it shoot up later. Its about time they started sorting out the trophies, I want to be able to sort them alphabetically and see how close I am to achieving them.

@TimeDelayedGamer I cared a little more before so many games starting making the online aspect key to getting them. If I can get trophies through the normal method of playing the single player, offline aspect of the game, then it feels like I've done something interesting or made some progress when one pops up. Especially if it was a hidden one that I got for being really thorough about something that had meaning within the game.

But as far as chasing them, doing things that I wouldn't otherwise do for no real purpose, then no thanks.

@Unlucky13 Sometimes it's nice getting them, like you say it depends on the nature of the trophy. If it's just for doing ten million headshots or something, then no thanks, can't be bothered with it.

I also hate the trophies where you get a reward just for starting the game for the first time or whatever. So pointless.

In the end, I like to set my own goals in games and tend not to worry much about the trophies, unless I feel specifically like I'd really like to do one of them. Chasing platinums just feels like a waste of time to me.

One of my proudest achievements in gaming is still completing DMD difficulty in the original DMC with an S rank on every level. No trophy to prove it, but I have the memories 🙂

I have many such games but I wouldn’t want the ability to delete them. Quite apart from the danger of some hacker getting in a deleting things, it would mess up the rarity stats.

@TimeDelayedGamer I always laugh when there's a trophy for basically starting the game, but only about 90% of the people have earned it. Who loads a new game and doesn't even play the opening sequence???

Really disappointed that basically all Sony did was devalue non-plat games. I've got like 200 non-plat 100%'s, some of those games take dozens or hundreds of hours and now I'm punished for having played those instead of more 5 minute rat dog platinums... (Ugh, Genshin Impact really should have a platinum)

I really hope with PS5 they finally start requiring all games to have a platinum.

Lol, well, hopefully the 100% games were rewards in themselves.

I view it more as platinums have been increased in value (and that is literally what has happened).

I think Sony will implement their own stats and leaderboards eventually, meaning that high completion percentage if yours will hold some “value”. Until then we have PSN profiles.

@Unlucky13 Lol, I know, it's bizarre. I do find the trophies quite interesting from the point of view of seeing the proportion of gamers who have achieved a certain task. It does amaze me how many start playing a game and then never see it through halfway, let alone to the end.

Well that was a worthless update.. at least make it cap less... Im sitting at 1200 plats... so instead of my level being 100 its 999.

@TimeDelayedGamer I feel the same way. In the last twenty years, there are probably only two or three games that I bought and didn't complete the story. And in those cases, I put time into it, but just realized that it wasn't fun or I didn't enjoy it, so I was wasting my time.

@nessisonett Ahh, cool! I have the Jak HD Trilogy on ps3 but I never unwrapped it in the end. Last one I got was MediEvil remake which wasn't too hard, bit grindy with the souls things, though.

I wasted near 200 hours on Dragon Quest Heroes 2 trying too get the platinum and sucked all the fun out of the game trying so hard too platinum It.

Boosting the online from a dead multiplayer on Tombraider ending up that i could not stand the game anymore. I think i should finish a game first and think about the trophies later but you know what limited time. 😔

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 was no fun regardless. I got the plat on DQH1, that game was loads of fun. If you haven’t tried it it’s definitely recommended.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Let's go back to the other trophy system, idk what this system means wayyyy to confusing.

@thefourfoldroot Platinumed that one i agree the first one was better. If they made it like the first and added some life improvement like they did with MHW it would have been the best. The weapon grind and max chacterskills lieveling are a crime in DQH2. And i dont understand why they got Rod of the thank you notes after you completed a Quest in 2 it was such a nice little detail.
