Hand-in-hand with the announcement that search engine Google is adding a search bar to Stadia’s storefront (seriously), Sony has added filtering options into the web-based PlayStation Store. This functionality was missing when the online storefront relaunched last year, but the Japanese giant is slowly rolling out features that aim to make the browser-based plaza usable again.
As first spotted by Gematsu, you can filter games by type, and order them by popularity, release date, and much more. It works well from what we’ve tried, and while we’re still generally quite negative about the new PS Store – well, at least it’s moving in the right direction, eh? Here’s hoping Sony can continue to make meaningful adjustments moving forwards.

It's slowly rolling out features, but at least it's faster than the old version. If they need to take their time to implement all the features we expect keeping it running smoothly, fine by me!
Its good that basic essential functionality of an online store is starting to slowly return, its just baffling why they were ever removed in the first place. I find myself using the app a lot more for browsing the store etc
Nice, the new psn web design is good, it just need more option like this
Bravo!! What an awesome addition.
Great news. Rather they take their time reintroducing stuff and keep everything running well.
This is a step in the right direction. I can't believe these seemingly basic electronic retail features took so long to reappear, though.
My brother has been doing advanced website design professionally for 25 years and he was shocked when I told him last year about the lack of basic features on the redesigned web PS store.
Now if only they'd add screenshots and trailers back to game pages on the web store, or addons for games instead of editions.
About time but I'll always prefer the old one though.
Now for it to have the rest of the functionality of the old one. Better yet, let us access the old one again. I still can’t believe this was saw fit to roll out.
This is a step in the right direction. Still, the sort and filters are only available in pre-made categories like collections and deals. They are not available in custom searches.
About time!
Still needs pics and game size and it'll be okay in my book.
They even rushed the webstore.
I don't get how Sony can be so backwards whenever they do something "new". Be it the OS for a new system, or this so-called Store update. If you had something prior and you change/update something, it should be an automatic given that those options should remain afterwards as well. Removing them to anger your user base just to re-add them months down the road is a bit counterproductive to say the least.
IMO, whoever is making these decisions needs to be smacked in the back of the head to knock some sense into them.
Baby steps Sony! You're not a big kid just yet.
That Stadia story had me howling
Now if they could only fix the PSN store.
Example - PSVR category: there is no more search options like "whats new", "popular", "Made for PSVR" and "PSVR mode included". If I was a developer I'd be pssed that nobody can find my game unless they search for it or if it is on one of the remaining tiles under that category.
Sony doesn't need someone to hack and mess up their store - they do a fine job of that, themselves.
God, how hard can it be for Sony to hire some damn interns. Tried the new sorting filters and the "genre" filter is blocked by the bottom section of blue where the region selection is - it's like 4" deep on my screen. Who knows if there's other filters below that as I can't see or select them... makes me not want a PS5.
Hurray! My A-Z deal searching is back
@MickOnYourFace Its really sad to hear that wasnt a thing yet.. ☹️
A step in the right direction for the "new" PSN store at long last! Like the return of a basic wishlist function,(just a pity its not integrated with the ps4's in buit store app as it is with ps5), now if only they could re-add trailers & screenshots on the web store! Would be nice if they could one day start to add some truly next-gen features like gifting friends directly!
