I score it 4/5. Great launch game for PS5, neon lights etc. looks awesome. Miles' powers feels new enough to play another Spidey game. Story is surprisingly emotional. Some great set pieces.
Even when I used shortcuts it still felt like a chore to just reach where I last died etc. It just wasn't fast enough for me to "Let's try one more run" etc. I heard that things start to get better with Biome 4 but I didn't reach there.
@MrPeanutbutterz
Well, while sometimes you can "nearly" skip them since they are just in the next room etc. most of the time it took at least a couple of rooms to get there. And like I said, having all these skirmishes again felt like a chore; not because "It's roguelike, of course you will do some of them again" but because it took too long until I reach where I am eager to try again. And I completely disagree about last part, runs should be short so that I have the will to try again when I die and not curse "Nobody got time for that again."
I loved Sisyphus Tower MUCH MORE than main campaign since it is exactly what I am saying. Another thing is I didn't feel like permanent upgrades were enough comparing to number of runs you did. They must have noticed that since Soros' tagline is "Come back stronger."
I haven't played yet but I am almost sure that Hades for example doing a much better job about "runs" from what I gather.
Edit: Jeez, even GoWR-Valhalla is a much better "roguelike" than Returnal.
Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Uncharted, The Last of Us Part Iⅈ all are better than GoT and GoWR. Returnal would be a good game if it wasn't one of the worst examples of its genre(roguelike). A roguelike where a run is going forever and leave you out of any eagerness to try again because how long it's gonna take to try where you are again? No, thanks. A roguelike without that curicial "One more run" because of how tiring it gets. PoP is a great metroidvania.
I plan to play this someday. Bought it in the Steam sale in the news mentioned. I finished Dispatch couple of days ago and while I didn't love it; it certainly reminded me the thrill of "choice-based" adventures and Detroit is the peak for that kind of experience from what I hear.
And I still wait for Eclipse. Hope they release it somehow.
What a year for 2D adventures man! Ragebound, PoP, Shinobi, Silksong... And finally this month with Marvel and Terminator.
Also looking at all the GOTM games; this was a really good year for gaming. Maybe not in terms of pinnacle of a blockbuster but in terms of variety and surprise hits.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I don't know whose decision was it but ending TGA with a mediocre mp reveal as "one more thing" is even more stupid than Micky's "one more thing" with CoD-BO7 reveal.
Yeah... Even Alicia Vikander was downgrade after Angelina Jolie's perfect casting and Sophie Turner is just the worst casting for the character. I would like to see someone else completely.
Great to read DLC is good. Movie was average and kind of redundant overall. Does Varang shows up? She was the best part of the movie. Or do we see any characters from the movies?
MM focusing on traditional campaign is good. I am really curious about Cory's game, hope it's worth the wait; it's been 8 years since GoW soft-reboot. Hope Firesprite cooks a great AAA.
It was a really fun game. Sequel could be an all timer. The level with the penultimate boss is legit one of my favourite game levels ever. Also combos are so satisfying to achieve.
Since I am at the last episode of Dispatch and finished The Alters when that came out; I completely disagree. I don't think Dispatch deserves to be in the list at all but even on top of The Alters? Hell no! Seeing Split Fiction getting the place it deserves feels great though. Can't believe people take that game for granted and act like it's not a great one.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 being the GOTY of PushSquare feels right. I can't see my opinion changing from years now when I play other games from the list in upcoming months/years. Maybe Kingdom Come?
Also, as a big fan of Spider-Man and Miles Morales; Spider-Man 2 being the GOTY of its year is hilarious. What a dissapointing game that was.
Finally, I hope I have a hard time between deciding RE9, Wolverine and PB0 since I want all of them to be turn out great!
You know what is C33's one of the successes? I wouldn't give a damn about this one since it's turn-based but now I am keen on trying the demo just to see if it will click with me even though it's the combat I hated the most.
Only good news from all these ram shortages. As a PS5 Pro owner this news made me really happy. Bring the big guns! C'mon Cory; what are you hiding from us!?
Also, please keep your sweet time as backlogs only getting bigger and bigger in recent years.
I was excited about this one since the initial reveal. Then playing the demo made me sure of it. I am so glad it turned out to be a surprise hit with the community. I haven't played the full game yet but it will be the first thing I do in the new year hopefully.
I am still sad about PS' PC approach. I believe in exclusives and also sad about Xbox going multiplatform etc. Exclusives push the industry forward and they are the peak of gaming when the necessary care given.
I didn't play it yet but feels like it should be higher. I can't believe this year made me play a turn-based game which I liked and this one which I couldn't care less before but want to play asap. Need to beat first one though.
From what I see; this would be the GOTY for a lot of people if it wasn't for C33. So congrats to the devs.
I disagree with both extreme sides on this. We can't act like it won't be more prevalent in every area of life. What we need to do is how to regulate it, being transparent, to what extent it's acceptable etc.
For example the things in CoD especially are vomit inducing but using it while in production to fasten some processes feels like a no-brainer. Like I said, there is a nuance there and it will be found in a few years hopefully.
As a final note: I can't see myself playing something completely made by AI even though I don't like to talk big.
Looking the full list it is indeed good value but it didn't feel like it most months personally.
I didn't renew my subscription and unless I play co-op games with my friend I don't plan to do it most of the year, at least it will be less frequent for sure. My Gamepass also ends in April and I plan to do the same. I realized that buying/owning games that I want to play right away is much more satisfying then having the illusion of playing countless games from these services.
Considering I just finished GoT a few days ago and its trajectory was the opposite of what you said about GoY in terms of story; I am sad that closing chapters drop the ball; we will see.
Also I %100 agree with you on C33 being "the most overindulged game of the generation".
I highly doubt DS2 will be anywhere near to the games I played from 2025 when I have the time to play more releases from the year; nonetheless it's good to see different opinions.
Baby Steps was interesting from what I tried with "Trial" but I won't ever go back to it. Blue Prince was boring af after a few runs and rng killed all the will I had which wasn't that big tbh. I liked Silksong and plan to continue in the new year but I can't see the appeal other than it being a good game and not anything special.
I have high hopes for this since it looks like the kind of game that take cares of Uncharted shaped hole in my heart.
LEGO Batman is 29th May. Unless Capcom drops Onimusha or something else; feels like it will have attention. But I wonder if SGF period will bury this game; hope not.

I felt too relentless above all. I really gave it a chance in the end.
Re: BioWare's Biggest Failure ANTHEM Shuts Down Today
I enjoyed it from what I played back in the day. Shame it never had an offline campaign.
Hope they implement the flying well to Iron Man game.

Valhalla DLC is a much better "game" than main campaign.

Re: A Month After PS5 Performance Update, The Division: Definitive Edition Leaks
First game's atmosphere is just incredible! I couldn't believe the graphics when it's launched too.
Now that I think about it; I have a co-op buddy who I play games sometimes and maybe both Divisions can be on our list in the feature.

Never played the franchise but this news makes me happy. I can finally dip in the series.

Looks downright similar to RE and being much inferior at that.
Re: Sony May Be 'Planning Its Entire Calendar' Around GTA 6, Says Jason Schreier
I hope it's worth the wait. Hearing them aiming for perfection and willing to delay even further if they think it's not ready sounds good to me.
Not like we lack games to play.
@OldGamer999
I would be more than happy with 40 fps mode at least for Pro.
Re: Rumour: Indiana Jones Dev to KO More Nazis in Wolfenstein 3 on PS5
Both games were forever in my backlog. Now I have the incentive to finally play those.

Thinking about it now. Since she already gave her the voice; Hayley Atwell would be INCREDIBLE! She has accent and everything down to a t too!
