There's a chance that, over the last few weeks, you were too busy stuffing your face with delicious holiday food to notice our massive Game of the Year campaign. Don't worry, we're not judging anyone!
An annual tradition here at Push Square, we write up a whole slate of articles to celebrate the year that was, highlighting the very best PlayStation games in the process.
And just in case you missed out — or even if you just want to peruse a handy recap — we've put together this feature, which covers our Game of the Year content in its entirety.
From our official top 10 PS5 games of 2025, to individual awards, to lists based purely on reader votes, we like to think that we've given the last year the attention that it so thoroughly deserves.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to read our GOTY stuff and to everyone who voted in the public polls.
The GOTY content always takes a lot of time and effort to properly produce, so we hope you enjoyed it!
@ShogunRok thank you guys for your hard work else this site woudnt be here thanks again
Calling it early but I can see RE9, Phantom Blade 0, Wolverine being contenders for GOTY.
@Oram77 Assuming it actually comes out in 2026, GTA6 will be a tough game to beat!
@wildcat_kickz I'm still sticking to my guns and saying 2027 for GTA6, love to be wrong though.
Well makes a nice change to see y'all didn't put a PS exclusive at #1 by default. I mean if there are multiplats that are better, just let them win. If an exclusive is better, fine. In 2020, I didn't think any game was beating TLOU2, it deserved all its awards. But Spiderman over BG3, naaah.
Poor Silent Hill F, so misunderstood.
First time in years where out of all the winners I've only completed one of them (Monster Hunter Wilds).
Thanks for putting all this together for us all year after year… even though Death Stranding 2 didn’t win in the end.
Let’s see Capcom take the win in ‘26!
@TheArt Subjective opinion innit.
I think Spider-Man 2 and GoW Ragnarok are horribly mid games, yet I also think CO E33 is utterly mid as well, and Death Stranding 2 smokes it in every aspect.
But once again that's just my subjective opinion, and there's no right or wrong.
@MrPeanutbutterz Well websites aren't made up of a single person, so it can't be too subjective, they have their personal top 5s for that. Imagine TGA going all subjective and choosing CoD or Fortnite as GOTY but no, there's a lot of objectivity going on there.
@MrPeanutbutterz Spiderman 2 and GoW Ragnarok are mid games. Yet, Spiderman 1 and GoW 1 were perfect. With sequels I just felt like replaying the same again and again. Very little evolution.
Since I am at the last episode of Dispatch and finished The Alters when that came out; I completely disagree. I don't think Dispatch deserves to be in the list at all but even on top of The Alters? Hell no! Seeing Split Fiction getting the place it deserves feels great though. Can't believe people take that game for granted and act like it's not a great one.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 being the GOTY of PushSquare feels right. I can't see my opinion changing from years now when I play other games from the list in upcoming months/years. Maybe Kingdom Come?
Also, as a big fan of Spider-Man and Miles Morales; Spider-Man 2 being the GOTY of its year is hilarious. What a dissapointing game that was.
Finally, I hope I have a hard time between deciding RE9, Wolverine and PB0 since I want all of them to be turn out great!
With a few exceptions, it has been a bad year; there have been almost no original games to highlight.
This, I can get behind. E33 was a great experience, but a better rpg than KCD2? Not even close. Possibly the best soundtrack of all time though.
