Re: Good God, Crimson Desert's PS5 Collector's Edition Costs a Whopping $280

Ravix

@Oram77 it can be an annoyance if you have the digital only console. In that case a digital code is welcome as anyone can use that. They should maybe offer the choice at this point, as the landscape is what it is with a lot of folk having digital consoles and games rarely being fully playable on the game disk anyway. I guarantee this game will have about 3 massive patches before it works, too 🙃

🙌 Violent & Visceral 🙌

I might as well share the rest of my thoughts I noted down:

They are saying all the right things, for me. The actor seemed to know what he was doing, and understands the emotional depth behind the role. And they all pretty much mentioned the damaged nature of a man who has been used and abused, lost everything, lost himself, and that struggles to keep himself on a level.

Re: USA's Top 20 PlayStation Games of All Time May Surprise You

Ravix

I was surprised that the modern warfare remakes are higher up than the originals for units sold. I thought when MW came out it was one of those games that everyone in the world had, and I thought people had soured on the remakes.

Other than that, looks about how i'd expect, sadly.

I wonder if a UK/europe list would have more leftfield surprises? Or just more Fifa :/

Re: 'The Tension Is Hurting a Lot of People': Ex-Bethesda Boss Speaks Out on Subs Like Xbox Game Pass

Ravix

@Ricky-Spanish whatever helps what? I detect a childish "get out clause" to avoid reply to that point, as it seems you think you have won and will close off your brain to any responses. Why are you even talking about MS profits? Do you genuinely think that MS having all the money in the world means gaming is in a good place and games will only improve because of it, while industry experts and people that have inside knowledge of how things are going at Bethesda say otherwise? 🤦‍♂️ You're in too deep to the cult of Phil, and you think people talking objectively about the negatives are an attack on this dear company that you love, for some reason. You are banging on about a console war whilst coming to help defend a trillion dollar corporation while other people speak objectively about how subscriptions f***ing suck for the industry.

They all suck. But maybe Sony's sucks a little bit less because they haven't bastardised their new releases within their subscription model. This is not a war, it is an objective statement about how each decided to pursue their own subscription model.

But do please read why these industry experts think subscriptions are bad for the industry, rather than assuming it is some weird console war s***, because maybe, just maybe, they have the interests of the creatives and the players in their minds, more than, you know, a trillion dollar corperation that just wants to hoover up more money 🫡

And hey, I only came on to make a joke about how people act in these situations, but now you've got this to reply to. So, enjoy it, haha.

Re: Sony's Troubled Live Service Game Fairgames Just Can't Catch a Break

Ravix

I know this is totally unrelated, but how is (bare with me, forgotten the name of it) ... Minds3ye doing these days? Did they release any of the DLC and fixes yet? Or has it totally fallen off the face of the earth? It'd be cool to see a PushSquare update article on the state of that at some point, just saying.

As for Fairgame$... that sounds... promising 🙃

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Sales Estimates Predict a Helluva Start for Sony's Live Service

Ravix

If only Concord had released on Xbox too 😅

A quality live service, like Helldivers, totally worth porting (or releasing day one everywhere) Everything else, maybe not so much. SiE's big IP single player titles have even struggled (relatively) on PC, haven't they? And Sony will still want first party exclusives to matter as the more prominent high end console on the market

@SMJ I think you have to take into account no one you replied to was actually talking about first party, but storefront sales, it was you that changed the narrative there, i believe. So: FC, CoD, Madden, NBA, GTA, that kind of stuff is what sells a tonne via PS Store, but not so much on Nintendo.

I'm not sure why you are debating who "wins" though. I was informed console wars are over. 😁

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 596

Ravix

@TheArt yep haha. I loaded up an old save the other day just to test it out, but the pace is pretty fast in first person, and it doesn't really suit it the same way as third person for rockstar games. I was hoping it might feel a bit like KCD for immersion, but weirdly Rockstar games are more immersive in third person.

Enjoy KCD by the way. JCBP 🙌

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 596

Ravix

I've been a lapsed gamer again. Embarrassed to think I even like gaming with how little I've played lately. Such poor form 😂

Unsure whether to crack on and try and get the Cyberpunk DLC finished before Ghost of Yotei arrives, or to pivot completely as I have an urge to try a First-Person RDR2 playthrough. But I believe it is a bit janky, as it was designed to be a third person experience, really. And who knows. Maybe there will one day be a PS5 patch...

Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5) - The Best Version of an Undisputed Classic

Ravix

@LiamCroft I did say it "reads kind of like advertising" and then mentioned the reason why it reads that way, as the quote states something proven to be untrue. It is not an accusation. I'm just pointing out it might be a little awkwardly worded, now that there is evidence of this not being the case. "I found the frame rate to be smooth enough for my enjoyment" rather than stating there "is a smooth frame rate on PS5 Pro" one is opinion, but the way you have it worded reads more like a fact, and things stated like facts can be proven wrong. So, it is worth drawing attention to the fact that it does currently have issues on Pro, that aren't mentioned here, in case people take this as gospel and are then dissapointed.

I'm genuinely not trying to be confrontational, just mentioning it might be worth tweaking the wording.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5) - The Best Version of an Undisputed Classic

Ravix

@LiamCroft @Rich33 "Coupled with its mesmerising visuals is a smooth frame rate on PS5 Pro...."

Digital Foundry states otherwise with evidence of findings

They have PS5 Pro as having a worse resolution than PS5 quality mode (rather than at least matching it, as was Cerny's blueprint) And the frame rate is worse off/less stable than in PS5 performance mode

Also, the paragraph here reads kind of like advertising when there is examples out there of this not being the case. But i'll just put it down to reviewer not noticing it or it not having an effect on their enjoyment, which is fair enough, not everyone notices these things. But it is worth drawing people's attention to

Re: Remedy Knuckling Down on Control 2, Max Payne Remakes

Ravix

Let's hope they can get Max Payne out while Sam Lake still looks like Max Payne because it might be awkward at TGA/SGF if he rocks up with greying hair, a hearing aid, and stooped over a zimmer frame as he slowly shuffles out to chat to a hologram of Geoff Keighly

Re: Round Up: Total Lack of Mafia: The Old Country PS5 Reviews Is a Red Flag

Ravix

All we need to know is if it works on consoles as it feels like it is exactly as I thought and what we should maybe expect... a Mafia Game like Mafia 1 & 2. And maybe this is using quite a lot of the gameplay and assets or ideas from the Mafia 1 remake to keep costs down. But overall that might not actually be that bad a thing if the story is good, sure it might be clunky, repetitive gameplay, but it isn't usually a game where you notice that being much of an issue as it doesn't outstay its welcome due to the structure of: watch a cutscene, travel to a location to shoot, steal or bomb something, then shoot, steal or bomb something, watch a cutscene, escape from where you shot, stole or bombed something, cutscene.

But this time with stabbing and horses too!

Re: Site News: Where Is Our Mafia: The Old Country PS5 Review?

Ravix

Always a concern considering they could have pushed a day one patch out for reviews anyway, it's not like they are working on a patch right up until release day. So this makes you think it will either need a v1.3 build to get it right on consoles, or they just don't think a middling console review at the moment will help sell any more than the pre orders they've already generated.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but i'm not buying it day one unless it definitely works.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 592

Ravix

@Eduard_Brenton eh, think I've heard that one

Good Luck. And, if anyone falls asleep, I hear airhorns are quite useful. Even just the threat of them can be enough to prevent that happening, but mostly because people will have left if you threatened them with airhorns. Maybe leave the airhorns out and just let people sleep 🤷‍♂️

Re: Rumour: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Coming to PS5 with Native Version

Ravix

Jesus Christ Be Praised! Henry's come to see us with an unlocked framerate.

(I actually finished a playthrough on PS5 early this year, and it was not too bad, the game loads well before Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, dies, and the game actually plays a lot different with all that peace and prosperity still knocking about)

Re: Keep an Eye on ENDS, a GTA-Inspired Sandbox RPG Set in London

Ravix

I'm here for Top Boy the game if that can be achieved.

I do hope they get some attention and maybe new investors so they have the time to do what is needed. Time is the important factor, clearly the passion is there. We obviously won't know the scope and scale of it and the quality of the script, but I like the setting and overall idea of it.

Re: Sony Sues Tencent Over 'Shameless' Horizon Copycat Coming to PS5

Ravix

@Alps_Stranger that is what I was thinking, but they want to delete the entire project from existence, so maybe it is showing they don't see it as a financial gains case, but a creative case based on protecting their studios and their IP, and if they get their wish, then it won't see light of day and will not cause them future finacial losses and marketing problems etc etc, whereas, if it is released, then it will cause a multitude of issues, from their perspective.

Re: VRR Gives Cyberpunk 2077 a Massive Performance Boost on PS5 Pro, Up to 120FPS

Ravix

@zhoont late to the thread, but it is a really, really good patch. The RT unlocked is a bit jankier to my eye than the locked 30 was, even though it runs mostly over 60fps, but the unlocked performance mode is really, really nice and up there with KCD2's and TLoU's unlocked performance (bar the usual FSR upscaling fizziness that still exists) and so it is easy to recommend on Pro

My plan is to finish my old character on this patch. And hope they do do a PSSR specific update down the line for a fresh playthrough without FSR 🤞

Re: 'Increasingly Selective Consumers' to Blame for Underperformance of Blades of Fire

Ravix

Kids (or the wave new gamers of each generation that we all once were) used to play all kinds of middling to trash games because that is what was available. And fun was usually had, regardless of if it was a 4 or a 9. Now all the kids are playing free sh** in the form of two or 3 games instead. That is it.

Older gamers can't carry the industry (we all have ridiculous backlogs that only get longer) and it will only get worse. So, I guess we can actually blame Epic for this after all... for breaking gaming 🙃

There probably is a good discussion to be had about how sustainable gaming can be, because more games come out every year, and of course every year we get older, unfortunately, and if we are currently trying to play games from 5 or more years ago now, how can we ever make time for all the new games coming out that we might not have enough interest in to play right now.

When we were kids however, we would play anything if it was put in front of us, and that side of the market is definitely shrinking severely as it is weighted towards only spending money in one or two games forever and ever and a fortnite.

🤷‍♂️
