After its full reveal and an influx of super-positive impressions from the media, Battlefield 6 seems to be in a very strong position, apparently bringing the series back to its former glory.
Given which previous Battlefield title was a "huge inspiration", we can certainly see why 6's reception has been so good.
Speaking in an interview with PC Gamer, DICE's lead multiplayer producer Jeremy Chubb cites Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as a massive influence on the upcoming title.
"When you look for excellence in our legacy, [Bad Company 2] is where you find it," he says, and we can't disagree.

"That game particularly delivered on a level of fidelity and a sort of intimate destructive experience. Blasting out a single wall, bringing down a partial building, or entire buildings. It was comprehensive, and it felt like the identity of that game more than anything else. We know that was kind of missing from [Battlefield 2042], and we really wanted to go back to that."
While everyone will have their personal favourite in the franchise, many fans will agree that Bad Company 2 is, at the very least, one of its best games, if not the best.
Its combination of a strong single player campaign and excellent online multiplayer with, for the time, incredible destruction tech made for an FPS that had it all.
The developers of Battlefield 6 have also spoken about 3 and 4 as an era they intend to return to, so it's very clear they really understand where the series peaked.
Whether Bad Company 2 is your favourite flavour of Battlefield or not, you'll soon be able to sample the new game yourself with an open beta test on PS5.
