Limited Run Games, alongside developer Implicit Conversions, is readying a port of PS1 adventure Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, and it's out very soon.
Coming to PS5 and PS4, the game launches on 27th February 2026, as announced recently on socials:
The original game was ported to modern platforms last year, so it makes sense to follow that up with the second entry.
This port of Fear Effect 2 was actually announced a few months ago, when this trailer was revealed:
It looks to be a pretty straightforward conversion of the sci-fi adventure, though it does feature some mod-cons like save states, rewind, widescreen mode, and so on.
Fear Effect 2 is a prequel to the first title, featuring combat and puzzles to solve as you make your way through a story about several mercenaries who share a common goal. The games feature a unique system in which your character's heart rate affects your ability in combat.

The artwork raised my heart rate but it didn't affect my ability to comment.
I remember this game came on four discs for the PS1.
Nice to have both Fear Effect games on a modern system!
I almost certainly played Fear Effect but I don't even recall there being a FE2 so not sure if I've played it or not. Maybe if I watched some videos.
Did it release in the US? I remember Shemue 2 only released in the EU of on Xbox so I didn't know that existed until they announced the gofundme for 3.
If its from Implicit Conversions it'll definitely be a good port.
