great pick to be fair! He should have stayed as Daario in GoT too in my humble opinion.
Such a stacked cast. He's a great choice.
I think they have done a great job casting. I'm hoping for the best.
Cast looking solid; hopefully they manage to nail it
Ok great.
Who's left then?
Laufey clearly (Fey).
Jormungandr must get his voice.
Magni and Modi.
The valkiries of course.
Atheeena! Maybe even Zeus, at least his voice.
And depending on how they spin the story, some other characters from Ragnarok.
Since Sif is there, then Thrud must be too
Also Freyr, Tyr, Durlin, Lunda, Hildisvini, Birgir, Beyla and Byggvir etc.
Quite a lot left to go.
Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical.
"Kratos! What's my name?!"
Very good ! Cast so far going great.
Excellent actor, really charismatic! I adored him in Game of Thrones and Deadpool lol. Not to mention, he is fineee af haha.
Yeah, this is a great choice. From what I've seen of him, he can strike a really great balance between smarmy and intimidating. Perfect for Baldur.
Why not Jeremy Davies..?!
Just remembered how lame of a villain I thought Baldur was in the first game. After coming off Kratos fighting some serious Greek gods in the original trilogy I found Baldur to be all kinds of meh.
Oh sure he was fine the first time, just a chatterbox to get Kratos annoyed, and that was fine, but the final battle was lame. Though I suppose if you look as the first game for what it is, just the first half of the whole game, then I suppose he isn't a horrible choice. Knowing they've already greenlit season 2 will make him easier to deal with.
I remembered him as Ajax in Deadpool. Pretty good choice for Baldur.
Casting has been damn top notch! Great pick! Hope this turns out great. The usual things that get folks griping seem to be ignored so far.
@rjejr Baldur was a great villain and had a ton of depth in my opinion. In fact Baldur, Thor and Odin far eclipse the Greek era villains.
@DennisReynolds The opening fight with Poseidon for GoW3 clears anything in the Norse saga. Followed by the epic fight with Hades, sheeesh
@Oram77 Sure in boss fights but character and writing wise the Norse lot are better. Poseidon and Hades literally have no character and only appear to get killed. The Norse games actually give the villains depth.
@DennisReynolds Thor and Odin, yes. Baldur? I just never saw him as a threat. Being able to stand there and take a beaten isn't the same as making me think he was going to crush Kratos head under his foot like an egg.
It was an interesting open to the game, but I never needed to see him again after that.
@rjejr I don't think the point of Baldur was to be a physical threat to Kratos.
@Shinnok789 I seriously doubt they will cast all them for the first series otherwise it'll be too many characters. There's realistically only Freya left.
@DennisReynolds "physical threat"
I know, and that's the problem. I'm not playing a GoW game to get Professor Layton, Kratos isn't Sherlock Holmes.
When Batman fights Bane it's to show off his physical attributes, but Batman historically has always been as much a detective as a street fighter, solving crimes and puzzles against the likes of Joker and Riddler. Kratos is more a Hulk Smash! kinda guy.
Baldur made for a nice incessant irritant but he is more the annoying class clown than the big bully who requires Kratos to go all out. So I wasn't feeling it.
@AdamNovice Only Freya? Heh, you actually believe that they've cast Sif, Odin, Thor and Mimir for the first season, and they're not gonna cast Laufey (as the BOY's mom and cause of the journey - she'll certainly be right in the first episode), Magni and Modi (that were talikg to Mimir just before Kratos first encounters him), Jormu, Athena (as part of Kratos memories) and at least a few of the valkyries? All being part of the first half of the first game.
Not to mention that some of them most likely won't even appear for longer than a few scenes as secondary characters, Laufey and Athena for example (and not only) - but they still have to be cast.
You're wrong imo, but in order to keep the argument short, let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
