Stellar Blade, a tentpole title for PS5 published by Sony, looks poised to entirely abandon PlayStation console exclusivity.
While the game originally launched as a PlayStation exclusive, it was ported to PC last year, like so many of PlayStation’s first-party titles these days.
But Korean dev Shift Up doesn’t want to stop there, and has told investors it is “reviewing platform expansion beyond PS5 and PC to broaden audience reach”.
In the Q&A section of its latest financial report, it continued:

“This approach is expected to both introduce the title to new players and gradually build anticipation for the next chapter in the series. We expect 2026 to be a year in which more users experience the existing title while momentum and anticipation builds toward the next phase of the Stellar Blade franchise.”
It’s expected that Stellar Blade 2, which is in-development now, will be a multiplatform game day one, so we suppose it makes sense.
What will be interesting here is whether Sony publishes the game on other consoles, or allows Shift Up to do it itself. While there is precedent for PlayStation publishing on both Xbox and Switch, we’d expect the latter.
All in all, more people playing a great game is never a bad thing, and Stellar Blade is probably not reaching many new players on PS5 at this point.
We suppose it does feed into the idea that PlayStation’s number of exclusives are diminishing all the time, but that’s just the nature of the industry these days.
We still think the platform holder played a pivotal role in putting this franchise on the map, and we’re sure the sequel will be a big success on PS5 – even if it does look like it’ll ultimately launch everywhere.
