New Saros PS5 Gameplay Footage Is Brief But Cool as Heck 1

Before we all get too excited about Marvel's Wolverine and GTA 6, let's not forget about Saros — Housemarque's follow-up to the brilliant Returnal.

It's due to launch on 30th April, so it's only a couple of months away at this point. As big fans of the studio and the vast majority of its output, we're extremely excited to see more of Saros, which looks like a solid evolution of what was achieved in the last game.

We've seen a bit of gameplay footage at this stage, but there's always room for a little more, right? Well, a little more is what you're getting, because the team has just posted a 21-second gameplay snippet:

The video shows the player dodging and weaving between bullet hell-like projectile patterns, jumping, dashing, and making use of a shield that can absorb certain attacks. We presume the enemy is a boss of some kind, though it's not made clear.

It's a shame it's so short because the game is looking great.

Again, Saros builds upon Returnal in some key areas, making the experience smoother and a dash more forgiving than its predecessor.

However, while the game features plenty of its own hooks like more permanent upgrades and player-friendly progression, it does appear that the core gameplay shares much in common with the last title.

That's not a bad thing, though — the action looks tight, responsive, and challenging. It seems that Saros will be making things a touch easier on players, but you'll still need to be able to react accordingly to all the onscreen mayhem if you want to survive.

Roll on the end of April.
