Two iconic 80s Toaplan shooters will release on the PS4 this week, from 26th February – but there’s a catch to this M2 collection that’s worth pointing out.

The base package will include arcade ports of 1985’s Tiger-Heli alongside 1988’s legendary successor Twin Cobra, both enhanced with various quality-of-life improvements, like customisable on-screen overlays and even a Super Easy difficulty mode.

Everyone who owns the main game will also be able to download puzzler Teki-Paki for free.

However, much like Operation Night Strikers for the Switch, the dev is selling each game’s console ports as a paid add-on.

This means you’ll need to pay extra to get the NES version of Tiger-Heli, as well as the PC Engine, Genesis, and NES ports of Twin Cobra.

For some reason, the DLC will also randomly throw in the arcade version of 1986 fighter Guardian (or Get Star).

We don’t know the price of the core compilation or its expansion pack just yet, so that could make or break this, depending how much M2 is charging.

But we guess there’s two ways to look at this: the dev’s saving you money if you’re only interested in the arcade versions and don’t want to touch the console ports. Or it’s charging you extra for the complete thing.

Either way, it’s good to have these classics preserved on modern hardware.
