Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), or PlayStation to most of us, paid a visit to Kojima Productions in Tokyo recently, and it begs the question — what was discussed?

Yesterday, 24th February 2026, Hideo Kojima posted about the platform holder's presence at his studio, and it looks as though the team brought with them a commemorative plaque for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

That's probably not the sole reason for so many SIE staffers heading over to Japan, though, and we're wondering if Kojima's recent trailer-editing spree might have had something to do with the meeting.

Before the most recent State of Play, Kojima posted about editing together a new trailer, and most assumed this would be part of Sony's presentation.

Indeed, there was a trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach's PC port during the State of Play, so many of us thought that was put to bed.

However, Kojima continued posting about his editing work after the State of Play aired, which means he was either posting about a different trailer than the one in the show, or he quickly began work on something else.

Anyway, what's interesting is that this trailer (which he completed on 19th February) was the subject of a special viewing, happening the same day as SIE's visit to the studio.

The implication is that Kojima cut together this mysterious trailer in order to show it to PlayStation. It's unlikely to be the DS2 PC trailer, because that's been and gone.

So, what is it?

Fans are somewhat split on the matter; some think it might be a new trailer for horror game OD, and that it might be coming to PS5 after all. Others say it could be related to Physint, the ambitious stealth action game Kojima Productions is making with Sony.

Whatever the case, it certainly seems like PlayStation's visit to the studio had something interesting going on. Exactly when we'll have an inkling as to what was shown is unclear, but it's probably safe to say Kojima Productions' relationship with SIE is assured at this point.
