Guilty Gear Strive 2.00 Update

Announced all the way back in the summer of last year — during Evo 2025, to be precise — Guilty Gear Strive's 2.00 update is set to be a significant overhaul.

The only problem is that we're still waiting on the details. Developer Arc System Works attached a very vague '2026' window to version 2.00, and it's been silent on the subject ever since.

Thankfully, that silence has now been broken — kind of. Producer Ken Miyauchi has provided a very brief statement on social media, assuring fans that 2.00 is still on track.

"We are also proceeding with preparations for the Ver.2.00 update as scheduled, so we would appreciate it if you could wait a little longer for further updates," he writes.

Initially, Miyauchi hopped online to explain patch 1.52, which actually has nothing to do with gameplay alterations. Instead, it'll adjust the game's licensing text, as Arc System Works has just acquired the publishing rights to Strive from Bandai Namco.

Anyway, 2.00 is expected to be a bit of a new dawn for the fighter, which is quickly closing in on its fifth year of support. Two additional DLC characters — widely believed to be returning combatants Robo-Ky and Jam — are going to be part of the 2.00 revolution.

Strive remains one of the most popular fighting games on the market, but many players will tell you that it's needed something of a shakeup for a while now. Here's hoping that 2.00 delivers.
