Not content with just dunking on new God of War games like Sons of Sparta, series creator David Jaffe has now turned his attention to the first image from the upcoming TV show adaptation Amazon Prime is making.

In it, we see Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as Atreus depicting the hunting sequence that opens God of War 2018. Atreus is aiming his bow and arrow at something off-screen, while Kratos is hunched over behind him. The actual image likely won't appear in the show, but it's still drawing criticism — most notably from Jaffe.

According to him, one of the "most offensive things about the image" is the expression Kratos has on his face. Jaffe says he looks "stupid" and like "he's sh*tting in the woods". He then turns to Atreus, and his hair in particular. It looks like it's got "tons of product" in it, according to Jaffe. Then, he questions if the kid is a "little special" because of how the bow is being held.

"It's just weird, the way the whole image looks — he looks like he's kind of a a very confused little boy with way too much product in his hair."

For anyone who didn't catch the first image release last week, here it is:

The next thing taking the heat is the rock in the background of the two characters. Suggesting it's styrofoam, Jaffe adds: "This looks like you would go into a hobby store and buy for your f*cking train set for like 'I got the boulder set for the trains to go by'".

Despite his heavy criticism of the debut image, Jaffe thinks the TV show will be good overall. He sings the praises of showrunner Ron Moore: "The guy is a juggernaut of a talented fellow. I have absolutely no doubt it is going to be a good show. Cory [Barlog] is on it. I think Cory has a great deal to offer, not just to this universe, but he's great with storytelling. I'm not worried about the show."

Amazon has greenlit two seasons for its God of War TV adaptation so far, which will recreate the two more recent Norse games for television. Do you agree with David Jaffe's latest comments or not? Let us know in the comments below.
