Capcom believes Street Fighter 6 can reach an even wider audience following the release of the franchise’s forthcoming live action movie.
Speaking as part of a transcribed Q&A with investors, the firm said it intends to “expand sales opportunities by aligning marketing activities with the film’s release”.
It further added that it believes there’s “further potential for sales growth” beyond the launch of the movie, which features the likes of Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Jason Momoa.
As of 31st December 2025, the latest Street Fighter had sold 6.36 million units, meaning it’s close to becoming the best-selling individual entry in the series to date.
The film will make its theatrical debut on 16th October, and we should be deep into the fighter’s fourth season pass by then. It’ll be interesting to see which characters it adds next, with both Alex and Ingrid the next two challengers currently announced.
We’d expect some pretty big updates to the game to coincide with the movie; skins seem like a given, but we also wouldn’t be surprised to see an expansion to the single player World Tour mode, inspired by some of the events in the movie.
The reality is that the film, if successful, is likely to pull in a slightly more casual audience, so while Street Fighter 6 is already fairly accessible with its simplified control scheme, it makes sense to add content that will appeal to newcomers in order to broaden the release’s reach.
