Bad news and good news for Let It Die fans; the original game is shutting down its servers after almost a decade. However, you'll be able to keep playing forever with the Offline Edition.
Let It Die is a free-to-play online action game with a roguelike structure, with enemies you face being other players. On 1st September 2026, the online servers will be switched off, putting an end to service after nearly 10 years.
Launching this fall, however, is Let It Die Offline Edition, which will effectively take the original game's place. While the online game was free, Offline Edition will instead cost a premium.

It's not made clear how much it will be, but it seems those who have played the game before will need to purchase "additional downloadable content" rather than the full game, so hopefully it won't be too bad.
Death Metals will be replaced with in-game Kill Coins, and the whole game has essentially been reformatted to remove or change online components.
If you have save data from the online version of the game, it can be transferred to Offline Edition once it's released.
The above trailer shows off the Offline Edition, while also promoting the start of Season 2 in sequel Let It Die: Inferno.
It's the end of an era, then, but the start of a new one. Rather than simply ceasing to exist, Let It Die will live on as an offline title.
There's a little more information on the official site.

That's how you do it
Yep, end a game's online service that costs money to maintain, sure. But make sure anyone who wants to continue playing has a way to do so. Seems fair enough to me.
I'd laugh if Sony decided to release Concord offline after seeing this news.
Is this the the stop killing games movement coming into affect, I wonder.
I played this when it first came out and enjoyed it. I'll have a look at the offline price when it launches.
Let It Die probably one of the few live service F2P games that i really enjoyed. iirc i only reached floor 20 or not far after i beat the 1st boss.
And i agreed this is how you end a live service game by providing an offline version.
Awesome, always been interested in this game but never bought it cuz online; will definitely pick up the offline edition.
Now I can check it out!
Let's hope that the Offline Edition proves worth the dev investment and serves as an example to others.
Glad that they didn’t simply Let It Die
So live and let die.
That's the perfect solution. I tried it once and the micro transactions were egregious. If they release it at a reasonable price and don't try to push micro transactions again, I might bite the bullet.
In the age of some live services not lasting a year, 3 months, even 1 month, 10 years is a lifetime. Props
I personally have zero interest in this game but it should be praised and lauded regardless. In fact, developers should be forced to follow this path when any online only game inevitably closes its servers and shuts down. Anyone who played this online and enjoyed it and was working toward platinum trophy completion will still be able to do so after the online->offline transition. Imagine that.
I've always been wanting to paly this but other things kept getting in the way.
One of the first games I played on my PS4, definitely gonna go back and try it in the future, so glad they made it offline.
I wasn't even aware it was running for ten whole years! Thought it was five or six at most.
Thumbs up for giving us an offline edition.👍 If only more F2P online games that shuts down could follow this trend…
@Boomers-r-us Something Ubisoft could learn from........
@ear_wig You also probably never bought it because it wasn't for sale. It's a free game.
Say what you will about the game but I do wish developers took more examples like this and give their online only games (especially those with actual story content) an offline mode/version. Vidoe game preservation is always important, no matter the kind of game it is.
