For sub £200 it’s good value for what it does now it has this streaming update.

People like @BaMozzy who think it should be comparable to a £900 hand held PC are just clueless and have to protect MS at all costs.

But it isn’t for everyone, streaming isn’t amazing yet. But for now at least Sony are pushing the product unlike VR2

Wont this just be because one is logged in and most likely has a PSplus sub? I often see extra discounts for having a sub? And it’s often 20-25% cheaper (which would account for the $5 difference too).

I think it’s most likely to be this reason.

But if it isn’t and they are looking at dynamic pricing then that’s pretty scummy.

Can’t complain about this on a £200 device (£150 in CeX)

Fair play to Sony for it

It is to a degree, as is tv or any other hobby.

But it’s direct competition is any other gaming device.

Because if I’m gaming I can only decide on one system at a time.

If I’m Choosing to watch a movie or a footy match it’s not in competition then.

If they are talking about this high end next release, it’s not going to have the casual CoD/Fifa/Madden crowd buying it. So make that money elsewhere

I get streaming isn’t great for many with lag and all sorts but when a portal is £200 or less that is not a bad addition to it.

I think more importantly is the games MS port are to a better QA testing.

They seem to be in a worse state than the Xbox version.

If they don’t sort that out it will lead to less people buying them. (Although halo will sell well)

It looks like the 3 ‘main’ players are pushing for their own market.

Sony with the traditional console.
Nintendo with handheld
MS with ‘premium/PC’ and software focus

Until we see the relative specs and prices of the next gen, who knows. But to most £600 is hard to stomach let alone potentially double. And at that point if you are an enthusiast wouldn’t you be looking at PC?!

At this point may as well wait until their is a ‘complete edition’

7 on PS, 9 on PX = that average of metacritics 82 pretty much.

So you prefer to focus on the one that gave it lower and not the one that gave it higher? Huh.

Most likely bring it in for next gen.

Feels like this game gets released too often. Then all the DLC to go with it.

@nomither6 except families aren’t going out dropping the money on a PC, casuals aren’t going out dropping the money on a PC to play CoD/Fifa/insert current fad.

Sure the people who frequent these sites may switch and have the know how.

But go ask the average mum, grandad, casual player what a 4090 is. They won’t know.

So yes PC has the potential but there will be a place for consoles too (until streaming becomes straight to Tv and it’s reliable etc)

The price increase can’t be positive news for the handhelds either I’d guess. Especially as a month out and no price announcement.

Makes sense that it will be announced ‘proper’ now GoY is entering the final push of marketing.

Unfortunately CoD is here to stay and it will still sell a ridiculous amount.

CoD needs to skip a year and give the devs some proper time to implement some new ideas.

I know it won’t happen due to the money, but it needs it.

A lot of waffle and filler that had nothing to do with games.

Spent too long on certain games CoD for example.

Too many trailers that actually showed little. RE and black myth for instance.

Overall my expectations were low, but still didn’t clear the bar.

I know you guys want us to go through PS but honestly you can get much better deals through known retailers unfortunately.

I just currently think in the scheme of things at MS Gamepass is not that big of a priority compared to azure or ai

@Max_the_German Microsoft made something in the region of £100billion profit for the year. $5billion in revenue is very little.

Especially as you are probably talking in the region of $1 billion of that being profit (20% profit margin? Probably too high)

That $1-2billion profit on GP is actually a tiny number to MS - for a lot of hassle.

But again to us consumers currently it’s still great value.

I’d love to know what The sales figures for CoD (as an example) were on Xbox prior to GP. Compared to actual sales since added to GP. Because that’s the only way you can tell if GP has covered the difference.

@themightyant I wonder if $1-2billion a year profit on GP is enough for Microsoft. Sure to everyone else that’s a huge number. But in the eyes of MS is it?

There’s a lot of costs that don’t end up in the financials of GP. (Of 1st party games)

There’s no costs of advertising the new releases, the development budget is elsewhere as examples.

There’s also the loss of sales that would have been done, compared to how many sub to GP.

What would the 10% growth (overall) had been without the Sony sales? There’s no previous year to compare with so inflated the figures.

As always there’s lots of nuances around numbers. What is and isn’t reported. But for now for the consumer GP is still good value, which is the most important part.

It’s always about the line going up.

MS wouldn’t port their games if it wasn’t a money maker for them. People aren’t switching consoles at a large rate to go get Gamepass.

It works for both sides.

SoD2 was a solid game, good to just run around with.

Interesting to see what comes with 3. Hope they don’t push multiplayer too much.

But at this point it would be more surprising if upcoming releases are Xbox exclusives.

It’s a little bit under the average.

And it’s about time websites started pulling more at day 1 performance. Because it’s often ridiculous day 1 is most expensive and worst performance. I hope PS keep pushing on technical issues whether it be 1st party or indie.

@themightyant you beat me to it. Was coming to say the exact same thing.

It can be hard to justify dropping £70?! (If it was £70) on a 7/10. Something has to give somewhere.

Then as you rightly point out I also have both plus and GP, so literally a thousand games to pick from.

I know that’s tough on developers too but can the games industry keep going releasing the amount of games that get released weekly? People have limited time and an ever shrinking disposable budget, families being squeezed left and right, a multitude of f2p games, or games with a roadmap of 18months to keep players coming back.

I’ve always given CDPR the ***** they deserved for the state they released cp77 in. And I will continue to do so.

However funnily enough last week the ultimate collection was on offer at £28 on prime day so I bought it. Along with an LG C4 which arrives tomorrow, so cp77 is my game to test out the tv. So the update is welcome!

Super annoyed I held off buying a C4 until I was home in the evening and sold out.
