I played a bit of Tainted Grail on Steam Deck yesterday. If I have any other game time it’ll either be Nightreign or I might finally start RE7. I’ve never been on the RE hype train, but Requiem looked great and made me want to play the newer ones.
@Kierant202 I completely agree with you. I don’t need to see the massive AAA games, we’ve seen so many of those to a point of over saturation. I want to see new games and smaller projects. The Lego It Takes Two style game looked fantastic and charming. I didn’t play Atomic Heart but the new one intrigued me. The Metroidvania they showed looked really fun and I love the genre, so more is always good. I’m not as into RE as most people but that looked great. Onimusha stole the show for me, that looked so damn good! Not everything there was for me, but I thought it was all around really good.
Apparently, I’m the minority this time, but I really enjoyed this one. There were far more games that interested me than usual. Plus, a zombie baby got punted across the room, that automatically made it a 10/10, for me.
@PlatinumMikey admittedly, I have no qualms with it, I’m going by what everyone else has been saying. It was never a game for me as I’m mostly a solo gamer. I hope it delivers for you! I still stand by the fact that Destiny has some of the best shooting in gaming, I hope Bungie hasn’t lost that.
I’m currently lying in bed with a stomach bug that my sister so graciously passed on to my daughter and me, so I slept through it. I didn’t vote but doing a quick glance there wasn’t too much for me there… other than getting a few answers right on Sacred Bets!
@SirSephy as a primarily solo player, I don’t recommend it solo. Granted, I haven’t played it solo since before the update that is supposed to help solo players, but I kept getting wrecked by the final Day One boss. Admittedly, I’m not the best player in the genre, but I have played quite a few Soulsborne games. I have had more fun with randoms than I have solo, sure even that is hit or miss, but when you click with a good group it’s a ton of fun. And that’s coming from someone who plays MMOs as solo player games. 😂
@HRdepartment I know Sekiro was originally intended to be a Tenchu game, I would love to see the alternate reality where it releases as one. Sekiro is easily my favorite Soulsborne game and my favorite sword based combat in a game, I would love to see it set in the more grounded parts of Sekiro with the option for more stealth.
It’s a solid game. I had no interest in it, but pre ordered it the day before it released on a whim. I’m primarily a solo player, but I’m really enjoying it. Once I broke the muscle memory of Elden Ring and I embraced playing with randoms, it’s the most fun I’ve had playing multiplayer in quite a long time. It’s definitely not going to be for everyone. I don’t even know how long I’ll stick with it, but given the fact that the longest a match can run is 45 minutes, it’s great as an in between game or game when you don’t have a ton of time to play.
I ended up going against myself and grabbing Elden Ring Nightreign. I’m almost strictly a solo gamer, so this isn’t normally a game I’d play, but after several hours with it last night, it was a ton of fun. Solo was brutally hard, some of the randoms I played with weren’t great, but others were great to play with and we made it pretty far together. Overall, I’ve had a great time with it.
I wasn’t going to buy this because I’m a mostly solo player but I’m between games and the price was right, so I said, “Why not?” I don’t know if I’ll love it or hate it, but I figured I’d come out of my comfort zone and give it a shot.
@VeldinX that’s what I figured, thanks for the reply! My wife and I played through Myst together years ago, but never got to play Riven, so I’d like to be able to do that with her without upgrading what tier I have.
Does anyone know of Riven will be available to purchase? I haven’t found anything online about it. I know most classics are available to purchase when they’re on PS+, but I believe a small handful haven’t been.
@amatmulisha @Batesy125s I couldn’t agree more. The original is one of the most atmospheric and unique games I’ve ever played. I love the entire series, but I adore how they pulled the first game and Infinite together through the Burial at Sea DLC.
I’m only a couple of hours in, but I’m enjoying it so far. The first one was my most played game on 3DS, I absolutely loved it. This seems like more of the same but also a step forward.
@PlatinumMikey Stellar Blade’s gameplay is fantastic, I really enjoyed that game. Expedition is obviously a different style, but the store is really intriguing, the gameplay is my favorite turn based system, the music is incredible, and the characters are all great. It just all comes together masterfully. I hope you enjoy it!
@PlatinumMikey I loved Stellar Blade, it’s a really great game, it doesn’t compete with Expedition 33 for me. I’d definitely say Expedition for your next Plat.
@MrPeanutbutterz I’m right there with you. I have absolutely no interest in speed runs, but it does take an impressive amount of skill that I have to tip my hat to.
@MichaelNau Transistor is such a great soundtrack. I’m a metal head, but there’s just something about that lounge jazz style that hits. There’s so many great tracks on this album!
@MichaelNau I couldn’t agree more. It’s up there with FFVII and Bastion as my favorite soundtrack. Lost Voice is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
@KingPev I finished South of Midnight in around ten hours as well. Most people didn’t like the combat but I thought it got a little better once you unlocked everything. The story and animation were both beautifully done and worth playing just for that.
@rusty82 I’m really enjoying it. The story is much darker than I expected, which I love. The traversal is pretty fun. The combat is the weakest part of the game, but I’ve played worse. The fact that it’s a fairly short game is great for me too. If it comes (when it likely comes) to PS5 I definitely recommend it.
I’m about halfway through South of Midnight, while the combat could be better, I’m adoring the world and story. I’ll keep continuing on with that journey. I’ve also been playing Minecraft a good amount. I couldn’t stand it for the longest time, I saw why people loved it, but it wasn’t for me. Unfortunately, my son fell in love with it and constantly asked me to play, but I’d only play every now and then. I went to play South of Midnight the other day and it had a huge update so I had to wait, I decided to give Minecraft one last try on Survival and I loved it. It finally clicked and I saw why everyone enjoyed it so much.
That great news, I’ve been looking forward to this one. My wife doesn’t do a ton of gaming but this one is definitely her style, even if I don’t like it, I’m sure she’ll love it.
I played it for a bit through Game Pass, but decided to buy it for my Steam Deck. It seemed like a good SD game and the few things I’ve seen about it in there said it played great on it.
This and Expedition 33 are my two most anticipated games right now. I’ve been on complete media blackout on both, I’ve been sold since they were announced.

I watched Mr. Matty’s hands on with it and I laughed hysterically. If nothing else, we are getting great content because of it.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Elden Ring Nightreign?
Very solid 7 for me. It certainly has its flaws, but I think there is a very fun gameplay loop for those who are willing to take the time with it.
