Unicorn Overlord at 9 is criminal, that game should be higher up, in my opinion. Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, and Helldivers 2 would top my list. Either way though, it’s only mid-April and this year has already been incredible!
I’m still working through Rebirth and am obsessed with Unicorn Overlord on Switch right now. Also a bit of Helldivers 2 to get my friend off my back who keeps harassing me to play with him because I’ve been too into Rebirth.
I’m about 3 hours into the demo and can’t wait for my copy to come in. The game is absolutely phenomenal. I wasn’t sold when I had first seen gameplay but when they were discussing it on Summoning Signs they sold me on at least trying the demo.
@ShogunRok thanks! I had a feeling that was the case but I wasn’t positive. I’ve tried getting into it a couple of times but it hasn’t really held my attention, so I was hoping I could skip it.
@Nepp67 I couldn’t agree more. I rocked the SM1 suit a good amount too, I had forgotten about that one. Most I just found to be insanely over the top, I like Spidey’s design for its simplicity, the same goes for Miles. I don’t need over the top cyber punk looking fever dream suits.
@Nepp67 if I’m being honest, I hated most of the costumes in this game. I basically stuck with the black suit and the Miles costume with the jacket and hood on, for some reason I’ve always loved that design. Most I didn’t bother even looking twice at after they were unlocked.
While I’m sure some players are doing this to selfishly be able to jump right back in, that’s not always the case. I had 40 minutes to kill yesterday so I jumped on for a match and I was still in the game from yesterday because I didn’t logout, I’ll be honest, I don’t play online much so I’m not used to it. I made sure to logout yesterday to make sure others could jump in, I’d bet a lot of people have accidentally done the same thing.
This game is an absolute blast. Nothing like accidentally nuking your team during extraction because you didn’t know your friend loaded one into the artillery cannon.
@Rafie from a gameplay perspective, I’d say it’s a huge step forward from the other two games, but with that said, I didn’t love the story and found it fairly predictable. It felt more large scale and bombastic, but that took away from the deep character moments like we got between Peter and Octavius. It also felt more bloated with side content than the original, which I chose to skip, so that isn’t exactly a big deal to me.
Very mild spoiler The MJ sequences played better than the first one but she was also far more powerful than Peter or Miles because she could basically one shot almost every enemy, which came across as a disjointed choice, in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a very good game, but it came out in a year filled with incredible games, I just don’t feel it holds up against many of the other games that came out last year.
Spider-Man 2 was a good game but it was barely in my top ten last year. I have to respectfully disagree with so many of those awards that it won. Spider-Man 2 having better characters than BG3? Not a chance. Spider-Man 2 having better sound design than Hi-Fi Rush or Alan Wake 2? I … no … just no. FFXVI was far more gorgeous than Spider-Man 2 and it didn’t have janky facial animations. I honestly think Spider-Man 2 is the most overrated game of last year, it’s good, but it’s not THAT good.
@JaBrony123 that’s awesome! I’m glad to hear it. I actually just bought it again for my Steam Deck and am really looking forward to jumping back into it after I finish Crisis Core. It’s such a unique and relaxing game to just kick back with.
I’ve been on complete blackout on every thing since the reveal trailer. No demo for me. It’s a day one buy … too bad I have to wait several days to play it because I’m going on a cruise the beginning of March and there’s no point in me starting it just to stop.
@NinjaNicky that makes me miss the old school Thief games when you could use moss arrows to soften your footsteps, water arrows to put out torches, distract guards by clanking arrows off of things. I’d love for them to go back to that style with that game.
Okami and Marvel Vs. Capcom would be my top picks if I can choose from anything, but with that said, I’ll honestly take anything Capcom wants to do. They are in their absolute prime right now, even if certain games aren’t for me specifically, they haven’t released a single game that’s come out recently that I thought was even close to bad.
@Valkyrian I never said it wasn’t the other way around too, but Xbox to others is what’s being discussed here. If PlayStation or Nintendo start throwing their exclusives onto other consoles, I’m all for it. I’m not one of the people that complained when PlayStation games started migrating to PC, I personally think it’s a good thing to branch out after a while.
As an Xbox first gamer, I’m excited for this. While I’ll still get the games on Xbox, there’s a lot of great games that gamers on other consoles can experience. Hi-Fi Rush for instance was one of my top games last year. While I didn’t love Starfield I did enjoy it for what it was. Of course, there’s Gears and Halo which are both phenomenal.
Granblue Fantasy Relink on PS5, it’s my first Granblue game but I’m loving what I played so far. Also, I’m nearing the end of Sea of Stars on Steam Deck.
I know I’m in the minority here, but this looks like a game I’ve played twenty times over already. It looks fun, but doesn’t look like it brings anything new and intriguing to the table, for me. Plus, if it ends up being a Soulslike, which it likely will be, it’ll be a hard pass for me, I’m burnt out on those style games.
@JaBrony123 I thought the original looked boring and ridiculous but for whatever reason decided to grab it on sale and try it out, I fell in love very early on. I dint think it takes ten hours at all. I’ve never played anything like it. Maybe grab it on sale if you’re interested in it, I think you’ll be surprised.
@Jireland92 I’ve been saying the same thing about Kojima for years, I understand that weirdness is his thing, but I’d love to see what he could do with something by leaving a bunch of that out. I’ve never been the biggest Kojima fan because it all feels so disjointed to me because of the blend of weird and serious. Now that said, I gave the first one a shot and I loved it, so I’ll likely try this one out too, but man, I could absolutely do with out the hand scarf, talking doll, baby ship, guitar weapon, and I’m sure I’m missing plenty of other things.
I got to be honest, I never understood any of the hype for this game. I never thought it looked that good and everything that’s coming out just proved it wasn’t for me.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite PS5 Game of 2024 So Far?
1. FFVII Rebirth
2. Unicorn Overlord
3. Helldivers 2
Re: Helldivers 2 Is Selling at a Faster Rate Than Spider-Man 2 in the UK
It’s a better game anyways 🤷🏼♂️
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 523
I’m still taking my time with Rebirth and a side of the Unicorn Overlord demo on Switch, which is fantastic and one I’ll definitely be grabbing soon.
Re: 3 New PS Plus Essential Games Up for Download Now on PS5, PS4
Immortals of Aveum is a ton of fun. It’s a seven but it does all it needs to. Well worth the time to play it.
Re: New PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki Starts Temporary Role Today
@Jedihillis I came to say the same thing. Since you beat me to it, I’ll have to issue a stand down. 😉
Re: PS Plus Premium's Classic Catalogue Seemingly Adding Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 Next Month
When they add Brave Fencer Musashi they’ll have my money, until then, I’m good.
Re: PSN Is Currently Down, Seemingly a Widespread Issue
Glad I moved off of Helldivers 2 and on to Rebirth!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 520
I hit the open world in Rebirth last night and got VERY distracted running around.
Re: Random: That Sure Looks Like Ellie from The Last of Us in Mobile Game Doomsday: Last Survivors
Still less egregious than War Gods Zeus of Child
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 517
Helldivers 2 and maybe restarting Death Stranding on Steam Deck

@ShogunRok you might have answered this already but how crucial is it to play FFVII Crisis Core Reunion before Rebirth?

@REALAIS I’m in the US. My son will probably like the new suits and I’m always down for helping a good charity, so I’ll likely grab them.
Re: New Spider-Man 2 Suits for Huge 7th March Update Revealed, Will Cost $5 at First
I might get it just for the charity, but man, those are ugly.

I watch the first reveal trailer and that’s it. I’m on complete black out for this game.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown on Xbox and still going along in Sea of Stars on Steam Deck
