Nearing the end of Alan Wake 2 and maybe a bit of Tears of the Kingdom, which is finally holding my attention.

My buddy is coming over today so we might play some Animal Party while kicked back with some drinks too or we’ll be playing The Reckoners board game.

@Mrlebowski no problem I’m happy to help. It’s not the most combat heavy game but they built such an incredibly unique game that I don’t mind the slower pace.

This is easily my GotY, I can get over how unique and incredible it is. Thirteen years was well worth the wait because I’ve never played a game that does its story like this. I love how the world changes with certain things that happen right on the spot. The combat is the weakest part of it, but even that I enjoy. I’ll gladly take more games in the world and I think it’ll slowly build traction over time. If I remember right the first game was a cult classic as well.

@Mrlebowski you have to use a focus beam with your flashlight to destroy the shadows around enemies, once that’s gone you can shoot your enemies. The charges on the flashlight are limit and they don’t give a ton of ammo, but more often than not you have enough of each. You can shoulder check enemies and dodge, there’s also flares, flash-bangs, and flare guns that you can use as well. The combat is fairly simple but fun enough. In all honesty, the story, characters, and world of this game are so phenomenal that I could play this game without a single piece of combat and this game would still be incredible.

I don’t need to see much more, I’m sold on this one.

I know I’m probably alone on this one, but outside of the game looking beautiful, this trailer did absolutely nothing for me. Admittedly I’m not a massive GTA fan, though I have played most of the, it’s more of a series I play for a little while, get bored, then never touch again.

I’ve never been a fan of level scaling, I like being able to grind if I get stuck.

I just beat Spider-Man 2 last night, so I’ll either be clearing up some side content or jumping into Immortals of Aveum next.

It’s a good game but I liked the original more. The combat and graphics were a big step up but it felt bloated and the story wasn’t as interesting, for me.

I adore this game, but it’s so much buggier than any other Insomniac game I’ve played.

This is my list, though there was so many phenomenal games this year that there’s plenty of contenders for GotY.

Love seeing the Sacred Symbols love in here. I bought this because of Colin, and I certainly think he was right about it. It’s not spectacular but it’s solid fun.

I still haven’t played it because I'm burnt out on the genre, but god I love the idea of this story. I might have to bite the bullet and play it after Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Wonder for me

15-20 hours sounds like the perfect length! I’m really looking forward to this, though it’ll be a while before I get to it.

I had a weird bug where a crowd of people were walking through a chain link fence, but that’s the only bug I’ve had so far.

I’d rather a follow up to Sunset Overdrive, that game was absolutely fantastic.

@Tchunga FEAR was such an incredible I would love for it to return, but until then, I’ll gladly take FEAR-like games!

I can’t wait to sit down and play this with my family. We are huge Bluey fans, and while this may not end up being a great game, I know we’ll have a blast playing it together.

@awp69 it became a bad score when it fits the narrative people are trying to create. The absurd fanboy comments on both sides are something special in this article. I’m with you, I’ve played faith and both are fantastic games, but people can’t just accept that, it always has to be a console war. I’ll stick with being an agnostic gamer and rolling my eyes at it all.

@BansheeNorn this news isn’t surprising, the logistics of carrying all of that over for three games would be crazy. Like you said, there’d have to be an absurd final level cap for that. There was still a part of me that was somewhat hopeful though.

I’m still very excited for this game and never hit max level in Remake, but I was hoping that would all carry over.

@Marquez I definitely am. I’m glad I stayed away, Square has a tendency to spoil their own games in trailers, I’d rather avoid that if I can.

I’m on blackout for Spider-Man 2 and FFVII Rebirth, so I’m glad I didn’t watch it live. Other than that, there doesn’t seem like there was much for me other Helldivers 2.

Neither would be my number one, but out of these, I love Bloodborne, but FFVII easily wins.

Baldur’s Gate 3 on my Steam Deck and Starfield on Xbox… sorry PlayStation, you’ll be getting no love this weekend.

@trev666 my personal opinion is not likely. They used those games as stepping stones to this game. I’ve only played the first Divinity, I really liked it, but this is that on steroids. It’s similar combat, but even deeper. There’s also countless ways to handle situations/encounters, but that’s things we saw in their previous games, it’s just ramped up now.

I’ve been playing this on Steam Deck and easily think it’s one of the best RPGs in decades.

Pikmin 4 and Final Fantasy XVI

@HotGoomba I can’t recommend The Last Ronin enough, it’s such a fantastic series.

Mostly Pikmin 4 but I’ll try to squeeze in some Final Fantasy XVI if I can.

@Dramlin Drummer stole every scene she was in, she was such a great character and so well acted.

@Batesy125s the show is an absolute masterpiece. I agree with the writing and quality of GoT but it actually gets better as the series goes on. It’s my absolute favorite show and can highly recommend it.

I watched this after it was mentioned on one of Last Stand Media’s shows (I forgot which one), and I absolutely loved it. It was fascinating getting behind the scenes of a studio.

It’s a near 10 for me, they just need to fix the frame rates.

I haven’t played it but I can’t help but laugh at the “abysmal” having 4% of the votes. First off, Capcom is killing it right now, so I’m sure it’s a great game. Second, it’s Street Fighter one of the best fighting games ever.

This will be a day one purchase for me!
