Update []: And just like that, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is official. Yes, it’s coming to the PS5 on 3rd November for $29.99, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

While the word ‘Remastered’ is in the title, this is a full-blown Remake – the visuals have been completely redone from the ground-up, as shown in the trailer above.

Here’s what the press release says about the game:

“The visuals throughout the game have been remastered from the ground up to enhance the cinematic experience of the original. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered also features gameplay updates, as well as an improved unlock system, so you can unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order you choose.”

Between this and Barbie Rewind, Atari’s got two games coming out in November. At least the release calendar is starting to fill out a little bit after everyone else evacuated the month due to GTA 6, eh?

Original Story: A big story of both State of Play and Summer Game Fest is that no games want to go head-to-head with GTA 6.

We’ve seen software evacuate November entirely, which has resulted in ridiculous crowding throughout September and early October.

But a remaster of 2002’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee looks like it’s got the guts to go toe-to-toe with Rockstar’s opus, as the reliable snoop billbil-kun reports that a remaster is locked for 3rd November – a little over two weeks prior to the anticipated open world.

Obviously these two titles aren’t competing directly really, but it is interesting to see someone occupy that early November release window – maybe the game will find success there, considering everyone else has vacated the month.

Original developer Pipeworks is said to be making this remaster, which is unusual in that this will mark its PlayStation debut.

Despite the PS2 being the dominant platform in the early 2000s, this game launched as a GameCube exclusive before eventually being ported to the Xbox. I’m not entirely sure why it skipped Sony’s system.

The release has a variety of different modes, including destruction where your objective is to cause as much carnage as possible. But I always remember it as a kind of Tekken-type title involving giant kaiju.

According to billbil-kun the remaster will feature enhanced visuals, online multiplayer, and additional single player campaigns for each monster. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this announced at any of the remaining 50 livestreams scheduled for this weekend.
