Re: Summer Game Fest Hosts New Game Reveal from One of 2K's 'Biggest and Most Beloved Franchises'

@nomither6 I have to respectfully disagree. I love Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite. I can understand why most people didn’t like 2, but I didn’t hate it like most and I think the combat was a lot of fun in it. Bioshock is a masterpiece of a game, so I have no arguments there. I personally loved Infinite, I thought the story was really good, the lore was interesting, and the gameplay loop was a ton of fun. Also, in my opinion, the Burial at Sea DLC is single-handedly the best piece of DLC I’ve ever played.

If you’d asked me years ago I’d have hoped for another Borderlands and Bioshock, but the Pre-Sequel was awful and I was severely disappointed in B3. Granted, I didn’t expect any to live up to B2 since it’s one of my all-time favorite games, but I expected far better. Bioshock on the other hand is still one of the greatest series ever made and I will gladly welcome the official announcement of the Antarctica Bioshock game.

@Blaze215 well said, I adored Remake and was so excited for Rebirth. I kept lying to myself saying I was crazy and that I DID actually love Rebirth, but I finally had to accept that I just wasn’t having fun with it. I hit 30+ hours and took a break. There is just far too much mandatory bloat in this game. I wouldn’t even mind doing all of the open world bloat if I wasn’t forced into a mini-game every half an hour of story time.

While I’m sure some players are doing this to selfishly be able to jump right back in, that’s not always the case. I had 40 minutes to kill yesterday so I jumped on for a match and I was still in the game from yesterday because I didn’t logout, I’ll be honest, I don’t play online much so I’m not used to it. I made sure to logout yesterday to make sure others could jump in, I’d bet a lot of people have accidentally done the same thing.

@Rafie from a gameplay perspective, I’d say it’s a huge step forward from the other two games, but with that said, I didn’t love the story and found it fairly predictable. It felt more large scale and bombastic, but that took away from the deep character moments like we got between Peter and Octavius. It also felt more bloated with side content than the original, which I chose to skip, so that isn’t exactly a big deal to me.

Very mild spoiler
The MJ sequences played better than the first one but she was also far more powerful than Peter or Miles because she could basically one shot almost every enemy, which came across as a disjointed choice, in my opinion.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a very good game, but it came out in a year filled with incredible games, I just don’t feel it holds up against many of the other games that came out last year.

Spider-Man 2 was a good game but it was barely in my top ten last year. I have to respectfully disagree with so many of those awards that it won. Spider-Man 2 having better characters than BG3? Not a chance. Spider-Man 2 having better sound design than Hi-Fi Rush or Alan Wake 2? I … no … just no. FFXVI was far more gorgeous than Spider-Man 2 and it didn’t have janky facial animations. I honestly think Spider-Man 2 is the most overrated game of last year, it’s good, but it’s not THAT good.
