It’s so close to Marathon season two that it’d be foolish to even really talk about it, since it’d cannibalize attention from an IP they are trying to get going.
@Rich33 those kinds of settings should definitely have pass codes. Luckily, my son is way too honest and put off by bloody/gory scenes so I don’t need to worry about him turning it on. He watched the dinosaur game trailer with me and turned away as soon as he saw the streak of blood. He’s a rare breed of a nine year old… my five year old daughter on the other hand would turn it on the second I look away and lie to my face about it as Wolverine is dripping in viscera.
I started up 007 First Light yesterday, I made it to the airport before calling it quits for the night. I’m absolutely loving it, so far. I’m also working my way through RE5, for an older game that still had tank controls it holds up.
@Contimaloris Colin flat out said he doesn’t care about his library, just his trophies and save data. I doubt this will change his opinion on the matter whatsoever.
Blood of the Dawnwalker needs far more coverage than GTA does. Fans are thirsting for any info and I get it, they’re excited, but they’re getting it no matter what, so maybe let a lesser known game have the spotlight for now.
@Berry48 I disagree, I’ve played plenty of roguelikes and roguelites that give you some progression between runs. I’m not the type of gamer that is going to enjoy a game if I spend a few hours with it, I die, and I have little to nothing to show for my time.
For me, Saros is definitely an improvement over Returnal. I liked Returnal but never felt like my runs accomplished anything when I died, that’s something I feel Saros does far better. Arjun is an interesting character and he’s so well acted, so he gets my vote.
@Mintie I played the series very sporadically in the past. I never played RE Zero, but I’m looking forward to it. I grabbed 1-8, some of the DLC, Zero, both Revelations games. I grabbed everyone on sale, so all said and done it probably cost me about as much as 9 now. I took a break when Pragmata came out but I’ll be jumping back into the RE4 Remake Aida DLC next week now that I beat Pragmata. I’ve been loving this pilgrimage through the RE games.
@Mintie I’m currently making my way through all of the RE games, though I took a slight break for Pragmata. This was my first time ever playing RE4, which I know most people say is the GoaT, but RE2 Remake definitely holds that title, for me. That game is an absolute masterpiece and dethrone Dead Space as my favorite survival horror game.
I beat Pragmata a few days ago. This weekend will be nothing but continuing Saros runs and Vampire Crawlers. I almost beat the second boss on my second attempt last night but it took me down right at the end. Both games are so much fun and so addictive.
If a game is 50-100 and has something to say/show me and it’s respecting my time I’m fine with it. Don’t pad the game and make it that long for the sake of length.
Does it suck? Definitely not, but it’s certainly not for everyone either. The chasing the light nodes to get your abilities thing is one of the worst things I’ve ever had to do in a game, it was so boring and tedious. I can’t fathom someone green lighting that as the way to do that. Other than that I enjoyed what I played of it, the only reason I stopped playing is because something I was excited for came out and I had only started that because it was on Game Pass.
There’s no contest here, Pragmata, it’s currently my GotY. But what an incredible month, Pragmata, Saint Slayer, Saros, Vampire Crawlers, Mouse P.I., and Hades 2!
@LikelySatan I completely agree. They took my least favorite part of AC3 and built a game around it, I want to assassinate people not ride around in a boat the entire game.
@ilyn I’ve dabbled in Gloomhaven on Steam, but friends and I loved the board game. Unfortunately, there’s so much to it for setup and rules, so it’s tough to find the time to play it.
I know it’s a fundamental part of the gameplay, but I wish it wasn’t a roguelike. Returnal was absolutely fantastic, pound for pound, it’s probably still the best PS5 exclusive (though I like Astro more), but I get bored with the genre so quickly if I don’t feel like I’m making any kind of progress.
I’m at the end of RE4 Remake, so I’m going to be wrapping that up. Also, I’ll be playing Pragmata, I absolutely adore this game, so far. The combat is a ton of fun and Diana is the most adorable and charming kid I’ve seen in a game.
I’m absolutely adoring this game, so far. Diana is one of the most charming characters I’ve ever seen in a game, she reminds me so much of my daughter.
@Contimaloris you nailed it. Colin had explained on his podcast that they intentionally wanted it to feel like NES games like Castlevania, Duck Tales, and Faxzanadu.
@Ricksta I’m right there with you. A ton of my son’s friends play it, so he asked me, I immediately said, “Not a chance in hell.” He’s about to turn nine and I’ve been very open with him on why. I’ve also talked to some of the parents I’m closer to that I know aren’t gamers just so they can form their own opinion on what to do.
@twitchtvpat that perfectly sums it up for me. I have so little gaming time that a 10-12 hour game is perfect. Of course there are plenty of incredible games that vary in hours, as long as you’re staying good and have something to say with the added time I’m in for the ride, but I can’t stand when a game adds padding just to say it’s longer. Typically a 30-50 RPG is great, but an action/adventure game or shooter, I’d prefer around that 10 hour mark.
@wildcat_kickz I completely agree. If it’s there, fine, if it’s not, oh well. It won’t impact the game one bit for me either way. Personally, I’ve always found nudity and sex scenes in games to just come across as awkward. I don’t care that they’re there but I’m certainly not getting excited when they’re in a game. If it adds to the story great, if not what’s the point other than adding something for gooners?
@helloim_anthony I had to respectfully disagree, I am hoping for no more than at 10-12 hour game. That feels like the perfect sweet spot for a game like this, at least for me. Don’t take that as I’ll be upset if it’s 20 hours, but I’m afraid it’ll over stay its welcome at that length.

Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS5 Game at State of Play?
Not gonna lie, I really like seeing GoW Laufey so much higher than most because I’m already sick of the pointless internet discourse over it.
With that said Wolverine has my vote with Onimusha as a close second!
