Like a broken record, I’m continuing my Resident Evil pilgrimage. I beat Leon’s story in RE2 Remake and am now working my way through RE3 Remake. While I find Nemesis more annoying than imposing, I am enjoying it more than I expected to given all the hate on it, but I also don’t have the original for context. I’m really hoping to finish it this week so I can finally understand everyone’s admiration and love of RE4!
@trev666 I don’t get it either. I see so many comments, “It got a 7? I’m getting a refund, it’s complete trash!” So it got a 7, it’s still a good game by all standards. People act like a 7 is the Atari E.T. game.
Can we stop pretending that a 70-80 average game is a “bad game?” I adore a good 7/10 game, I don’t need every game to be a masterpiece, in fact, it makes those higher rated games feel that much better. I get that it can pull down people’s excitement for a game when they see a 7 or an 8 as a score, but it’s not like it’s an unplayable mess. As they say on Summon Sign, sort it out!
I’m continuing my Resident Evil pilgrimage and I just got to the Ada part of Resident Evil 2 Remake. What a masterpiece of a game. Even though I bought it at launch, I never played through it fully, only the original. I now regret that choice, this may top Dead Space Remake as my favorite survival horror game.
After seeing all the praise RE Requiem has gotten I’ve decided to jump into RE1 Remake. I’ve only played this series schizophrenically, so I decided I’m going to start my pilgrimage with the first game and work my way through. I’m almost done with it, I’m about halfway through the tunnels. If I beat it before the weekend is over I’ll be jumping right into RE2 Remake!
I’ll be finishing Split Fiction with my son, hopefully. Also, I have been all over the place with my Resident Evil dabbling and with the hype of 9, I’m going to give the series a real try. I started with RE1 yesterday (one of the few I have fully played before), so I’ll be playing that, maybe some RE2 if I beat RE1 and Nioh 3. Finally, I’ll be squeezing in some reading of Operation Bounce House when we are lounging about.
My son and I started Split Fiction together and are loving it. I’ve also been obsessed with Nioh 3 and playing that whenever I can. Habroxia 2 on Switch is the last thing I’ve squeezed in here and there.
@johncalmc I couldn’t agree more. I expected around a 7 for this and that’s what we got. Sometimes you need a good, dumb, middling game that’s around 10-12 hours, something that’s mindless fun.
I’ve had it pre ordered on Switch 2, I’d rather it on PS5 or Xbox, but I get the most game time on hand held. This is my most anticipated game with a release date, by far.
Watching the Fallout series has me itching to play Fallout again. I tried jumping into New Vegas but it plays terribly on Steam Deck. Steam had Fallout 4 GOTY Edition on sale for $10, so I figured why not? I’ll be playing that and some Mario Galaxy on Switch 2.
This game was never for me, but I didn’t think it looked nearly as bad as most people did. Hopefully they can launch a few more game modes and it’ll pull people back in.
@SleepyNick you’d think they’d have dropped it the Friday before. The States had Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, so some people got the day off, I suspect that’s why they chose that Monday, but the Friday before with an extended weekend would have made more sense.
I restarted KCD, I had made it about 5.5 hours in last time, then stopped playing. Restarting it, I’m already doing far more than I did last time and picking up on things I missed. I’ve leveled up a lot more in less time.
While I likely wouldn’t use this, I appreciate it. First, it can help people with disabilities that may not be able to do certain things in games. Second, it’s great for kids, I’ve lost track on how many times my five year old has asked for help. Finally, it could be useful for people who get stuck in general and need help.
@rjejr I’m with you, I got the plat in Aegis Rim because it was so easy and got most very naturally and I did Astro Bot intentionally but that’s because I loved it so much. Other than that, I have games I’m so close to getting the plat for but I just don’t care, I’ve never been a trophy/achievement hunter.
@AhmadSumadi I completely agree. I did really enjoy what I had played of it but the bugs were taking me out, and of course some of the design choices they made I wasn’t a fan of, like dropping heavy weapons all the time. I’m really glad to see they fixed things like that and most of the bugs I dealt with, though I did get randomly stuck opening a door and I had to reset the game, but I don’t expect the game to be flawless. Overall, I’m really enjoying it again.
I’m trying Crono Trigger for the third or fourth time, it’s actually clicking with me this time. I’ve also been playing Star Wars Outlaws which I had played some of at launch but it was a buggy mess, it seems like it’s in a much better place now.
No South of Midnight?! That soundtrack was incredible but it gets no love.
E33 was easily my favorite soundtrack of the year. Lost Voice is not only one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, it was also my most listened to song this year.
I’m going to give Fallout New Vegas another try on Steam Deck. I played it at launch but couldn’t really get into it, for obvious reasons I decided to try it again. I may also squeeze in a bit of Is This Seat Taken. On console if I’m up and the family went to bed I’ll be playing Star Wars Outlaws. I dropped it at launch because it was pretty buggy, but I was enjoying it. I thought that would be a good one for Christmas break to see how the updates changed it.
RIP to a legend and to the passenger, regardless of if he was driving recklessly or not, two people lost their lives, a poor decision doesn’t mean they deserve it. My heart goes out to the families, we may have lost one of the greats, but they lost so much more.
I started NG+ on Expedition 33, I haven’t played it since launch and it being so front and center in the media right now had me wanting to jump back in. I will say the Gommage certainly hits a lot harder after everything I’ve went through with family this year.
I’ve also been playing through Metroid Prime Remastered. I’ve played it a few times and it never clicked with me until now. I’m really enjoying it so far, though some of its mechanics feel like a product of its time.
I’m enjoying it so far. The graphics and music are great and it’s a ton of fun, though I do wish the cover system could be used whenever you wanted instead of situationally. I’m all for it being a shorter game, I’m sick of 40-100 hour games, it also reminds me of my childhood.
I really miss the days where things like this remained a mystery until it was actually announced, or when leaks rarely happened before E3, game shows, or game awards announced them. It takes the fun out of it.
This is easily in my top five this year, I’m absolutely loving it. It took a bit to really click with me but once I better understood the city building mechanic I was obsessed.

Double the price is still quite cheap if it is as replayable as VS.

I was looking forward to this, but the demo jumped it to the top of my list. I can’t wait for this game at all.

I went with Nioh 3 but I haven’t played RE Requiem yet. Admittedly that game looks so good it has made me decide to go through every RE game.
