Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

Odium

I think PlayStation definitely has a sequel issue. I’m probably in the minority here, but TLoU2, Spider-Man 2, GoW:R, HFW, have all been good games that I believe are weighed down by bloat, over staying their welcome, and not trying anything new. All of these games felt like they added pointless tasks and story beats to them just to make them longer, I would much rather a shorter game that feels more coherent. I don’t even necessarily need an evolution in gameplay, I know I said they play it safe, but that to me is the least egregious part, Yotei plays it safe, but I haven’t felt that same over staying its welcome like the other games I listed. I would love Sony to rein it in a bit, deliver the polish and gameplay, they’ve been giving but don’t pad it just for a longer game.

@Kierant202 I would love to see another version of this game that allowed you to hire and fire heroes as you choose. It would be great to allow you min/max your team, level them, have synergy. I can absolutely get behind this.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dispatch?

Easy 9-9.5 for me. Everything was fantastic about it, the only slight marks I have against it is that there were a few janky moments with the controls for me during dispatching, so I missed a few that I could have made. Overall, it was easily one of my absolute favorite games this year.

I finished my first play through of Dispatch, so I’m going to take attempt three at finishing Tears of the Kingdom, for whatever reason it hasn’t pulled me in like Breath of the Wild did. Also, if the family goes to bed and I’m awake enough I’ll jump into a few raids in ARC Raiders.

Re: ARC Raiders Is a Confirmed Live Service Hit as Sales Top 4 Million, Player Count Rockets

Odium

@Veritas7Ax for what it’s worth I don’t like playing multiplayer games, especially PvP, but I’m absolutely loving this game. Sure, every now and then you encounter another Raider that’s going to shoot on sight, but I can count how many times that’s happened to me on one hand in the just one ten hours I have in it. Overall, the experience has been great and most people either leave me alone or join me. I haven’t had a single person turn on me at all.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give ARC Raiders?

@Northern_munkey I can completely understand your complaint about the base, but personally I love it. I want to spend as little time in there as possible so I can get back to the game. I’d rather jump between menus than have to run around a base to each location.

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

Odium

@Daleaf it’s been a great experience solo, so far. I almost never play online, but it’s been such a great experience. I’ve only ran into one other player that attacked me, everyone else has been good. Even if you don’t use a mic you can just emote and usually people will respect that.

Edit: just saw that you bought it!

Re: Rumour: Halo 2, Halo 3 Remakes Also Purportedly Planned for PS5

Odium

@HRdepartment I didn’t bother getting Gears since I’ve played the hell out of it already. It’s great these games are coming for fans that have stuck with just PlayStation for all these years, but for multi console players it’s more for the novelty than anything else. I’m with you, I’d much rather jump into something I haven’t played.

Re: Rumour: Halo 2, Halo 3 Remakes Also Purportedly Planned for PS5

Odium

@carlos82 I agree with what you are saying, the one counter argument I’d make is that The Library in Halo Combat Evolved is a notoriously bad level and could definitely use a redesign. Does that warrant a full game remake? No, but at least if they’re going to remake the game they are planning to fix that. Thee remakes and remasters are getting out of hand though, Dead Space Remake was a masterpiece and I mostly love what they did with FFVII, but games like TLoU getting 70 different versions in the span of a few years is just ridiculous.

Well played on that caption, Sammy.

As a gamer, of course it makes more sense to throw Halo 1-3 on the system as a bundle all at once, or even better the MCC. As a studio, there’s no chance in hell Microsoft would do that, they would lose out on so much money. They’ll give PS users Halo, hopefully get them hooked and wanting more, so when 2, 3, and so on release you keep coming back. They’re clearly doing the same with Gears of War.

I’m expecting close to, if not a full priced game for Halo Campaign Evolved. First off, Microsoft is greedy and clearly doesn’t care about their consumers given all of the price hikes lately. Also, it is a full remake and will have three new missions.now with that said, I’d hope, given the fact they removed multiplayer from it that they’ll stick closer to the $40-50 range, like Gears of War Reloaded… though I don’t have much faith in Microsoft these days to do consumer friendly things.

I’ll be the one to admit it, I’m playing Pokémon Z-A and having a great time with it. I’ve also been throwing in a few random rounds of Ball X Pit here and there. Lastly, I try to squeeze in some Ghost of Yotei when the kids go to bed, but that’s been easier said than done lately.

I finally decided to grab a Switch 2 with Donkey Kong Bonanza, so I’ll be playing that. It’s the most genuine fun I’ve had with a game in quite a while, no crazy story beats (so far), no over complicated mechanics or controls, no over saturated bloat, it’s just a simple, fun game that respects my time.

@skkidssse my coworker wasn’t thrilled about playing as a woman either, but that’s because he was upset that he wasn’t playing as Jin again. I was actually intrigued by the fact that it wasn’t a direct sequel.
I agree, the exploration is great in this game. I love open world games that don’t distract me too much, but also don’t make me feel like I’m missing out if I don’t thoroughly explore enough. It’s a tough balance but they nailed it. The combat is absolutely phenomenal in this one.
