Stellar Blade team Shift Up has officially confirmed it now has a sequel to the PS5 fan-favourite in the works, revealed in an investors' presentation.
On one of the slides in a May 2025 powerpoint, it is shared the studio is working on Nikke, Stellar Blade, and something called Project Witches through until 2027. Under the Stellar Blade tab, it has "platform expansion" and a "sequel" listed. The former could mean Stellar Blade releasing on new consoles — like Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, in addition to the imminent PC version — while the latter is, of course, a full follow-up to Eve's excellent debut.

Given the success of the first game, a sequel was expected. What's surprising, however, is Shift Up plans to have it out before 2027. The original is just over a year old at this point, so to have a follow-up released within the next two years would be impressive given current development cycles. A Complete Edition, which bundles together all current content with additional Outfits and boss fights, is coming to PS5 and PC on 11th June.
Of course, release plans can shift all the time, so maybe don't lock Stellar Blade 2 in for next year just yet — there could always be a delay.
In our Stellar Blade PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 score and said: "A dire English dub and some trite story beats mean the studio still has plenty of room to refine its craft, but Eve’s inaugural outing is largely excellent across the board, and destined to become a firm favourite among PS5 enthusiasts."
It now appears the developer will indeed get that opportunity to improve on what already was a fantastic experience.

This is expected and great news! I hope they're not rushing anything out though and give themselves plenty of time for an even better game!
Very exciting! Stellar Blade is one of my favorite games of the generation so I'll for sure be there day one for the sequel.
I'm gonna assume there taking the like a dragon route and reusing the hell out of assets cuz that's the only way there getting a triple a game out in that time ⏲️
Isn't the game published by Sony? So I'm not sure if it'd come to Switch 2 or XBox
Would be nice though
Jesus christ be priased.
@mariomaster96 Sony owns the Stellar Blade IP, so it's highly unlikely the game will be available on anything other than PS5/6 and PC. I feel like Sony will also acquire Shift Up at some point.
It sold very well immediately I suspect it was greenlit almost the day it came out, if not before, and we're only just hearing this now. With the engine built a 3 year turn around to 2027 seems feasible.
@theSpectre @mariomaster96 Actually Shift Up owns the IP. I imagine this will be a Death Stranding-style scenario where Sony has it locked up for a set number of years.
The wording "platform expansion" could be referring to anything, though, really. My assumption of it is they just mean "growing the brand", which could come from ports, but also other initiatives as well.
Platform Expansion means the upcoming PC Release imho
I assume the platform expansion means pc since this chart doesn't seem to indicate that it's what comes after the pc port
Anyway, best news of the year so far. This ip has so much potential. For a 1st game it was so incredibly fun. And while the story wasn't anything special. I so look forward to the fight that was basically teased at the end of the game. And please somehow bring back raven 😭
Absolutely loved Stellar Blade! Hoping for a greatly expanded combat system next time around; different weapon options and multiple skill trees would be awesome!
I hope they give this a bit longer tbh to be the best it can be - one of the best things about the original was its launch state. The Pro enhancement was excellent too.
Awesome to see we're getting a sequel.
SB 2 before KH 4. Yes, sorry, I couldn't resist. 😂🤭
I'm curious if this is a PS6 launch title, since the PS6 is already rumored for 2027.
This is awesome, but not surprising! I can’t wait to see how much they improve from the first game. Right now, it’s one of my favorite games of this generation.
I feel like I'm already watching my kid play the Stellar Blade sequel, it's called Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.😂
Ok I know the game play is a lot different being quick time turn based, but the music, mood, atmosphere, locations all have a very similar vibe. As if the same company made it. I think it could almost work in the same universe with a little help and maybe a 1,000 year time skip.😁
Make the story good this time and I’ll be there day one, enjoyed the time I had with the first game, just the characters and narrative sucked ass, but the combat and soundtrack especially were god tier.
I'm glad to see it coming sooner. We need more games that are done in the old school style of just reusing assets and evolving it a little bit more rather than 6 to 7 years for a sequel.
Game of year 2027 confirmed.
@theSpectre from what I know, Shift up owns the IP and Sony just published it. Shift up would definitely be an asset to Sony if they were to acquire them.
@Dominator2885 It's a good philosophy. People like X, so give them more X. PS1 era Resident Evil and SNES Final Fantasy games come to mind.
@IntrepidWombat exactly. It's what we need to go to with this new generation.
PS2 era style game development.
I wonder if it will be a ps5 or ps6 game
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH
Still need to give the original a propper playthrough but so many great games are still in my backlog. For the love of god let me get caught up! I'm still trying to finish PS4 games.
Great news I enjoyed stellar blade just release it when it's ready no rush I think most gamers now have a massive backlog anyway
Fantastic. Playing it through at the minute and it’s some of the most fun I’ve had this gen outside of VR. Phenomenal in every way.
Waiting for the pc release to give it a go, good to see a sequel is already being worked on.
I’m ready for the sequel. Stellar Blade was definitely my game of the year last year. Gonna give it another play through eventually.
@Dominator2885 Agreed, we need shorter development cycles and shorter games in general. As the average gamer age goes up, we don't have as much time as we did when we were kids, so 60+ hour games just don't appeal to me. I'm counting down the years until I retire and then have tons of time to game again, haha.
@Marathon5150 seriously though.
Was just talking with a buddy of mine and had spent 3 months working on Witcher 3 and wasn't even done with Act 1.
Last year I beat 12 games. This year I had only beat 2 so far, I don't have time for games like that. Decided to focus more and smaller dinner sized games. Since April, have thoroughly finished and really enjoyed Stellar Blade, Evil Within, BioShock. Currently working on BioShock 2. Been great to go back on work on smaller games plus work on my back catalog.
Same, been working on the backlog with Clair Obscur being the exception.
Still have not played the first game but I'll get round to it at some point.
A sequel with all the experience and feedback they’ve learned from the first game should be amazing. I’m all here for it 😎😎
I just heard and i'm very happy 👏🏽🥹
My ah.. body.. is ready!
pc day 1 for max sales.
@KillerBoy if it's by 2027 then PS5, if it's by 2030 though, maybe PS6 😂
