A brand new gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country has just been released, and it's looking very promising indeed.

The game, which winds back the clock to 1900s Sicily, looks brutal and action-packed, with plenty of gunfights, vehicular jostling, and intense knife battles going down in the criminal underworld.

Visually it's impressive, with a varied range of environments all looking great. The trailer features a mix of gameplay and cutscenes, and it looks like a suitably cinematic experience.

The game is scheduled to arrive on 8th August 2025 on PS5, and it'll set you back $50 / £45, so it's not quite at the top end. You can pre-order the game now on PS Store.

In a press release, Hangar 13's president Nick Baynes describes the game as "a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay".

He continues: "That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional. Embracing early 1900s era Sicily, this is a mafia origin story that follows our protagonist, Enzo Favara, as he takes the oath and works his way up Don Torrisi's crime family."

2K president David Ismailer says there's a "large audience for compelling stories that don’t require massive time commitments", suggesting Old Country isn't going to take dozens of hours to get through. "We’re excited to offer a game like Mafia: The Old Country in our portfolio, and to provide a linear highly-polished narrative experience that can easily complement the other more persistent games our players also love and engage with on a more consistent basis."

As well as this new trailer, developer Hangar 13 is set to reveal more about the game later today, with a panel being streamed live on YouTube and Twitch.

This gets underway starting at 11am PDT / 2pm EDT / 7pm BST.
