I played Mortal Shell 2 today for a few hours and had a great time. Hope yall are having a great time waiting to play again until after you’re cute little boycott…
I mean Saros isn't a flex given no one played it on PS either, and honestly neither will Not God of War Laufey when it comes out, lol. Astro Bot is a great game but only if your a Sony fan. This ad doesn't really speak much. The last 6 years of Sony have been it's most mediocre in it's gaming history.
People who think the leakers are doing this for gamers or gaming are chuds. They are doing it for money, lol. And it will have no positive impact on anything.
I can only imagine of the few people who will do this, that they won’t just play their Xbox, PC or Switch in its place ironically as all those companies employ the same kinds of practices as Sony, lol.
@Foxhound and in a few months Wolverine will sell 10 million copies, lol. The problem with Internet forums and social media at large will always be you’re a fraction of the consumer base and the larger portion don’t really care about most of these petty problems.
I feel like this is right in line with what Sony and others actually call live service success. They know only 1 in 10 games will make it. As long as they get that 1, I think they deem the overall venture a success and thus I don’t think Sony is going to abandon their live service venture anytime soon. As jaded gamers we see all the failures and laugh. But I feel like Sony already planned for that and I bet we’d be shocked at home much money they’ve made off the few successes vs the losses of many failures.
I’m in the minority here but the demo didn’t grab me. Not because like others I thought it was too easy or anything. I just didn’t feel grounded to me. The character movement felt odd. The combat doesn’t feel weighty enough. I think for $70 it’s a pass for me. Especially with Mortal Shell 2 being a surprise hit in my opinion.
I don’t know why the author is saying you have to play the first 3 before you pick up 4 or don’t even bother? My first MGS game was the first mission off of a demo disk. Then I skipped to 4 and didn’t even make it halfway through. Then I went to 5 and finished it. Then I played the 3 remake this year. Now I’ll jump to 4. The gameplay is the best part. The narrative is nonsense even after you just use a wiki or a timeline/story guide to have it all make sense. I’d play the games however you want and not worry too much about the story. Kojima is the most overly glazed creative of all time.
Marathon players should reread that part about developers assuring players they’ll support a game despite low reception so they can brace themselves for the true future of that game too.
" ... EA's new owners simply won't have the same sentimentality for a once revered developer like BioWare ... " Neither do us players, lol. I doubt anyone but the glazers think this is still the BioWare of old.
I mean, what sales data IS there to even share at this point coming from MS, lol? I will give you the sales data on consoles and first party games right here for the next few years with one word — bomb.
@Meowmixes98 No they won't. Not going to PC because of cost is not why console gamers choose console, lol. You can already build a decent PC for the price of a console now so if it was price the switch would already be happening and it's not.
It's almost like if your console costs twice as much you only have to sell half as much to still be profitable, lol. People are going to love bashing Sony for selling less consoles while Sony still makes just as much money.
Seeing how we just learned practically no one has been working on Horizon 3 to focus on their soon to be failed live service attempt, this is very believable. As much as the glazers think a Last Of Us online game would have been great, it absolutely would have tanked too.
Problem is failing it he eyes of gamers does not equal failing it the eyes of Sony. Sony looks to make money. Sony is making money. I don’t think Sony sees him as the failure we do who just hate things live service gaming.
I feel like the people who claim to not buy games without being on disc are really just kneecapping themselves for some sort of false martyr. Even if I bought a game for $70, played it and enjoyed it, and then 10 years later Sony took it away, playing it would still have been worth more and losing the $70 game, than having never got to play it at all because of some self imposed moral stance no one cares about. Like, the people holding out are still the true losers in the purist sense of gaming. You miss out on great games just to make a $10 point.
I used to hope this studio would bomb hard enough into a forced Killzone Remake. But after seeing what 343 did with Halo Campaign Evolved, I don't even think I would want one because you know these guys would do the same kinds of things they did too. Thank God for Eastern devs holding up gaming on both their shoulders for the 2020's.
I have been eyeing this one with great caution, but also great hope, that it would be closer to a Stellar Blade success than a Lost Soul Aside flop. Glad it sounds like it's steering towards the former. Will still wait until I see the full release as there's no reason to preorder anything in this day and age. But I am glad it sounds like this might turn out to be a banger.
@wildcat_kickz "There's a legitimate collective, cultural insistence on finding things to hate about everything nowadays." — If you don't live your life perpetually on the internet, this is practically non existent for most people. This needs to be clarified as an "internet cultural collective". Step outside the internet and people don't go around hating each other and everything everyone is interested in all day long.
They must feel some sense of fear or they wouldn't feel the need to address this and have the bought and paid for publications run defense for them too. But I would be shocked if any of this hurts anything. This game has mass appeal based on just the Wolverine name alone. Look how average Spider-Man 2 was and it almost sold 20 million copies at this point. Like, these guys aren't making games for hardcore gamers. They are making games for the kind of gamers that only buy a few games a year and just want a cinematic experience more than a game.
I know that every product I see in an ad I always go to the comments to see if the fine upstanding people of the internet think I should buy it first...
@Americansamurai1 It will be the first couple of years from the launch of the PS5 all over again with all the earlier adopters going "why aren't studios making games that take advantage of the PS6 capabilities" lol. They don't seem to realize that most dev groups don't even build games that take advantage of what they overpaid for in hardware. Deb groups will include PS5 for the next decade.
How is it honestly news to anyone that social media isn’t a place for actual feedback? Like, his comments just seem like more virtue signaling on his part honestly. People on social media don’t buy products. They aren’t fans of anything other than drama. How are companies still responding what happens there or taking it serious? It feels like a bunch of people who just like to complain about abuse when they could easily remove themselves from it. Take a beat from Sony. They e literally still ignored the discless backlash and it’s kind of died out at this point and no one stopped buying digital games over the small span of time.
This is why directing your anger at Sony selling a PS6 for $1k+ is the wrong direction. Let them. Developers can still makes games that run smooth and look good on a base PS5. They just choose to forfeit that level of optimization. Capcom does this all the time. The studios making games are failing a lot of us just as much as Sony is.
@Oram77 because it allows them to justify charging $70 for the game. Even though such a small percentage complete the campaign, I think there would be a cry to lower the price if they didn't include them together. And why lower the price to sell a campaign alone that no one will buy instead of charging everyone twice as much for something they don't care for knowing players will buy it for the multiplayer regardless? Gamers are absolutely the kind of children who wont play with a toy for a year, and then some other kid will start playing with it, and then they will cry they want it back.
Similar to MS just buying studios to artificially inflate their stance, Netflix and Amazon annd others are not going to be able to just buy their way into the space.

Mortal Shell 2, a game I really had no interest in but then saw a handful of solid reviews and now I’m hooked. Praise the $50 game too.
