@Vertere If PvE ends up bringing in a tone of people when the true PvE mode launches, I would expect that PvE will start to dominate Marathon the same way it did Destiny. Destiny used to be a 50/50 split on PvE vs. PvP. But once they saw the vast majority leaning to one side, it basically became a 90/10 split. The fact that they are already injecting PvE into Marathon this soon probably shows they feel it will be a last ditch effort before they just pull the plug. Marathon will be fundamentally changing. It's either going to morph into a PvE game or cease to exist.

Only people who have never held a job in corporate America would honestly think Destiny 3 would have been in development or would be close to starting. Bungie has literally shown itself to be one of the most mismanaged companies over the last 5 years. Why would Sony green light D3 right now under this regime? I expect they will spend the next 6 months cleaning house, finding a new game director outside of Bungie, and then staffing up to start working on D3 maybe by the end of the year. No way they let this IP die. But the current culture and climate at Bungie needs a total rebuild. You basically get rid of everyone expect the devs fundamental to the function of the game.

@TheArt These games have kinda ruined it for me too. I don't think it's going to be a bad game, but when it doesn't feel like the titles you mentioned, it's hard to want to spend full money on it.

To be honest, after playing the demo this will be a deep sale game for me. While I was surprised at how easy the demo was, that's not really what bothered me. It just doesn't feel like tight enough combat. It felt floaty and not very impactful. For the full price I just don't think it's up to par.

All these games kinda seem like ass.

I like the idea of this, but the fact that they are PS5 games but say PS2 on the box doesn't make sense. They should have kept the box shape and design, but either just left them PlayStation or put the 5 on it. People would still have understood what generation it came from just by the shape of the box. Implying a new game working on an old console doesn't make much sense aesthetically speaking.

Summer Games Fest felt like what Sony used to be 10 years ago. But Sony is still light years ahead of Xbox, lol. Every show has games worth playing though, so it’s all a win in the end.

I don’t understand why companies pay people to make stuff like this? It does almost nothing. You could have just posted the P6 logo on twitter and got just as much buzz.

I thought the first game had promise. But seeing how the second game turned out and how quick now a third can be turned around I imagine it’s just another walking sim.

@RainbowGazelle the console games this generation combined have sold more copies and made more money than any other gen in gaming history, lol. Everyone is still buying games despite a handful of unemployed people on a weird anti AI crusade.

Still buying it day 1. New Tomb Raider game is reported to use AI. It’s almost like all the studios are using AI. This war is over, lol.

I was a huge fan of Gears back in the day, but after playing Reload it felt like this franchise just belongs in the 2000’s.

@BearsEatBeets it breeds competition among studios which benefits players in the end. Sony has a massive ego, along with any other company, and feeling the pressure to keep up will absolutely lead to better games. While it might seem like a petty culture war, it will still force studios to try and get better too.

Capcom and Square Enix specifically have easily eclipsed Sony.

Very good. The excellent stuff was excellent. Lotta 50/50 stuff shown off. Moderate amount of slop. Went as well as thought.

Top 3 on this list were solid and more exciting than anything Sony showed off.

Lol. Or he just got a huge Netflix budget and a well established IP that literally did all the work for him. The animation was the best part. Every character could have had zero dialogue and there been no story and the series still would have been just as good. I certainly don’t regret watching it. I thought it was good enough for what it is. But it’s nowhere in the vicinity of great anime that will ever be remembered.

THIS is where they announce Destiny 3. I can feel it, deep down in my plums.

The “clap back” isn’t even clever given the dev studio is a corporate company too, lol. Kind of makes you wonder how good the writing in the game will be…

To be honest I wasn’t impressed by either top game. Wolverine just looks like reskinned Spider-man and not God of War looks like a DLC pack for Ragnarok honestly.

$15 still seems like too much for a game that should be free and will ultimately be shut down anyways.

Doesn’t even seem like second or third place but it’s a great game.
