'I Think We'll See That in the Next Year or Two': Days Gone Dev Could Reveal New Project Soon 1

Like so many other Sony first-party studios, it’s been a bad few years for Days Gone dev Bend.

While the Oregon-based outfit keeps on trucking, its live service project was cancelled in 2025, alongside Bluepoint’s God of War game.

But it’s been able to settle on a new title, and Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says it’s possible we may see it in the next year or two.

“After Days Gone, [Sony Bend] had all sorts of issues [including] lost leadership [and] a sequel that didn’t happen.

Eventually they got to a point where they were working on this new IP that was also going to be a live service game, but that was cancelled at the same time as Bluepoint’s [God of War live service game] in 2025.

Now Bend is working on something else – they’re surviving. I think we’ll see that in the next year or two. Hopefully it doesn’t get cancelled.”

It’s unclear whether Schreier is simply speculating here or working with inside information, but if we assume work started in earnest late last year, it should be ready enough to show in 2027 or 2028.

It does mean the Days Gone dev will have missed the majority of the PS5 generation, which is devastating when you consider its apocalyptic open world was actually a pretty big commercial hit for the studio.

It’s sadly just more evidence of the awful management of Sony’s first-party studios.
