Halo Studios has announced a new PS5 update for Halo: Campaign Evolved will go live next week that includes a raft of fixes and technical improvements.
There'll be more to the patch, but the developer has shared some of the biggest things it's fixing with the update:
- Improvements to Sgt. Johnson to prevent blocked mission progression.
- Jackals can now be staggered more reliably when targeting their hands and feet.
- Marines and Flood Marines will now fire their Assault Rifles when the Magnified Skull is activated.
- Players can now turn off Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain.
- Additional stability improvements across multiple platforms.

I actually encountered those first two issues during my pre-release playthrough for review. When playing The Most Dangerous Game, Sgt. Johnson wouldn't move when we reached the first bridge area. I had to push his character model along to get the checkpoint and objective to progress.
Then, I was surprised by the changes made to Jackals, which are the small enemies that carry around shields. In the previous versions, you were reliably able to shoot the hole on the side of their shield to stagger and then kill them. This wasn't happening as much in Halo: Campaign Evolved, and next week's patch seeks to rectify that.
