I’m sorry but this game wasn’t worth $70. When I finally got around to playing it on sale for under $40 it felt just right. These bloated salary AAA studios just aren’t making high value games anymore.
To be honest after playing the demo nothing hooked me about this game. I didn’t dislike it. But I figured it will be a game I revisit when it’s at a deep discount if I do.
@WolfyTn physical media is like putting a band aid on a severed limb to stop the bleeding. But by all means, continue to think others are the naive ones, lol.
It feels like it was only yesterday that everyone thought MS was going to control the industry because they were buying all the studios with their unlimited amount of money and now we are here where they are shedding everything because they still never learned that you actually have to produce good games in the end.
All they did was reskin Doom 2016 for the third time. You wonder how many devs you actually need when you start producing nothing but sequels that don't need ground up building? Don't get me wrong, I liked Dark Ages, but I would never sit and say it did anything ground breaking or revolutionary. And I definitely did not spend $70 on it. This is going to make AI even more palpable because if you aren't creating new IP then why wouldn't you just assign a reskin to a robot?
@Miserablefish yeah but this game doesn’t really fit that bill because it’s being remade. People don’t have any issues playing “old games” that are remade on modern engines with modern controls. There are certainly masterpieces in story, characters, world building, etc. from old games that stand the test of time. But to actually play a game from the 90s or 00s is an absolute chore.
I imagine if it was really dire for Sony they would. The problem is too many people confuse social media chatter as reality. Because games journalists and twitter bots are screaming then Sony has to be doing bad. Maybe they’re just fine.
@Dalamar you’re totally right. I can’t believe we aren’t getting Elden Ring’s and RE9’s every single week, every single month, every single year. What a ***** time to be alive.
@MrPeanutbutterz if a “designer” picks a trophy that requires skill to complete then maybe they should first acquire the skill to ship a game that doesn’t allow for the exploit. This isn’t some third party software allowing cheating. It’s a design flaw within the game which makes it fair game in trophy hunting. You might not like it if agree with it, but trophy hunters all take advantage of fair game exploits. You’d actually be dumb to play back through this game on master if you don’t need to for the trophy if all you’re looking for is the trophy.
@MrStark he even found out from the tv series that fans loved the first season and hated the second too, lol. And that fan base wasn’t just a bunch of gamers either. So his second part failed in both mediums which makes it even less likely he’ll try a part 3. They just need someone new to lead that franchise now. He’s really shown he wasn’t the reason the first game was so good.
It’s so sad to watch people think the fight is for physical media. The fight should be for better digital rights. We should be banding together to fight the unfair laws in the digital space, not trying to hold onto some archaic form of preservation. Digital media can literally last forever with the right laws. Physical media actually has the truest end date.
I don’t understand this line of thinking. It happens so often in media now. Just make what you think is meant to be made. Quit trying to convince people you don’t care about expectations by saying you don’t care about expectations. If you have a real level of confidence in what you do, then do it. Don’t try to soften it just in case by saying I warned you you might not like it. I just thinks it defeats the entire purpose.
That’s because you only account for the “fans” who scream on reddit and Twitter. Most fans don’t live their lives on social media and rarely ever post anything on it. You’ve got a massive group of people who don’t really care. They see a cool game and they play it. That’s all.
@Kelvar Google the numbers. They exist. It’s over 80% digital sales now days. And that’s only because physical is still offered. You honestly think the 15% who buy physical are all going to just quit gaming in 2028? I don’t think so. The number of holdouts will be so small it won’t matter.
You mean a bunch of talk from people who will still buy the PS6 and digital games past 2028? Yeah, the internet chatter almost never amounts to anything as we’ve seen year and year again. It’s a place to mostly scream into the void.
For me it’s about launch games. If I can’t see enough of a difference for main stream games, I just don’t think it’s going to be a must have. They’ve already shown the Pro barely had a reason to upgrade. Very few games get a slight upgrade in performance and visuals. Right now I don’t see a need for a 6.
@user0 I know you post this kind of stuff for likes, but I hope you actually do know you don't "own" any of the digital media you possess just because there is a disk in your hand...
@axelhander That's an interesting read and honestly the biggest issue is a cultural one to me. The fact is 90% of people don't play a game more than once, and would probably never know if a game was even taken from them. So when you have a adoption rate that high, nothing is really ever going to change because the majority of people simply don't care. The internet has distorted this reality because you can come here, see a poll of 3k people at +60% say this is some kind of deal breaker, and convince yourself the average person cares. I think a lot of people here have forgot they aren't the main customer Sony is even looking for. They want people who spend money on new games, not people who act like playing titles from the PS1 era is some badge of honor. It's like driving onto a BMW lot and bragging about your Toyota with 200k miles on it... you aren't their target, lol.
As someone who hasn't bought physical in over 5+ years I guess I don't care. I don't believe anyone here for one second when they say they will stop buying games either. This is your hobby and you'll participate in it regardless because it's what you've done your entire life. Sony knows this. 85% of sales are already digital. It's nice to see acting tough on the internet is still trendy though.
@psmr I really hope my life is never boring enough that I can tell when internet strangers have changed their name due to remembering their writing style, lol. You need a real world hobby, bruv.
@psmr In nature, there's something called the food chain. It is where the shark eats the little shark, and the little shark eats the littler shark, and so on and so on and so on, until you get down to the single-cell shark. So, now replace sharks with game studios, and that is all you need to know about business.
I knew it was over when PC players lost their minds because Helldivers 2 was going to initially require a PSN account. If the goal was to create PC ports to try and convert them to PS players as well, that was a clear indication it was not going to happen. Now when you realize it doesn't add much to sales, and the burden of creating the port on top of it, it doesn't make any sense to me, from a business standpoint, of why you would keep doing it. I think Sony made the right call here.
People just don't want to face the Covid aftermath now. A lot of people figured about 5 years post Covid this would all come crashing down in multiple industries. And it has. People also keep acting like every single person at every single studio is a beacon of talent. Clearly a lot of you have never actually worked in corporate America...
@wildcat_kickz Except in this case damn near every Xbox studio is a loss leader, lol. You have to have some studios actually generate enough to compensate for that and in Xbox's case, they practically have none.

These outlets have Mix Tape at 10/10 GotY so it really means nothing at this point.
