Re: Bad Handling of Demon's Souls PS3 Meant Sony Missed Out on Dark Souls Publishing

Its worth remembering that FromSoftware was considered a very mediocre studio before Demon's Souls and Shu himself played it in a much worse state before Miyazaki joined the project and help the team find the one and only thing they're good at. Sony dropped the ball here to be sure, but let's not act like FromSoft was being extremely petty as well.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dynasty Warriors: Origins?

Right now, I'm somewhere between a strong 7 and a light 8. I love the way the game is structured and the tweaks to combat are really fun, but the battles themselves range from too straightforward to too involved and rarely find a sweet spot. For a game that can render this many enemies on screen it's rare to get a KO cout in quadruple digits due to how quickly your moved from one officer to another. It's the same problem I had with Afe of Calamity; it wants so bad to get to the more involved fights, it rarely gives you a moment to mow down fodder which was always the main appeal of the series to me.

Im still pretty early in the game so we'll see how my opinion changes, but for right now, I think it's pretty good to great, but I'm not sure if it's amazing yet.

Re: Poll: Will the Switch 2 Compete with PS5?

@Pat_trick Agreed. The Switch 2 is already the most boring console Nintendo's ever made, and the Switch 1's install base is too big to overlook. I don't think we're going to see a mass shift like we did in 2017.

My vote goes to Atlas Fallen's Reign of Sand update. Because the amount of gameplay variety and replayability it adds will keep it in my rotation for longer than any of the other options.

Re: Game of the Year: #7 - Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth may not be the best game I played in 2024, but it's far and away my game of the year. It took everything that made the original so important to me, a made it bigger, more fleshed out, and somehow still made it all feel right. I may not go back to this as much as other games this year, but the joy, elation and even sadness Rebirth brought me is unlike anything else I experienced this year. And I love it so much for that.

To me, Dragon's Dogma 2 holds the prestigious honor of being not just the biggest disappointment of the year, but of the decade so far. Waiting 12 years for a sequel just to have feel like a step backwards in most ways was bad enough, but most of it's steps forward just made it even less fun. It's going to be a while before I'm over it.

Stellar Blade on the other hand really surpassed my expectations. Even with how likely I was to love it, I didn't expect to play it start to finish five times this year. So it definitely takes the top spot for me.
