PS5 Exclusive Ghost of Yotei Is One of the USA's Best-Selling Games of 2025

Still haven't finished it because they actually made the world so much fun to explore. Lol

So can we please put it to bed, that Sucker Punch has literally given us one of the best games of year, like there's no arguing it at this point. As I said in another article I'm fine with Yotei but being in the GOTY category, just please stop trying to say it's a bad game.

Edit: I expect the figures to jump up during the Xmas period, and even more when Legends come out.

But the chuds and incels said it was going to flop though and that the boycott would work because women and Erika being LGBTQ+. 😂😂😂 Glad to see its doing very well as its excellent.

Death Stranding 2 failing to make the top 20 is dissapointing. It's even behind Helldivers 2 in its second year, and the chart is based $ sales and doesn't include Mtx.

@Oram77 Here Here! Regardless of what TGA panel thinks Yotei is one of the best game of 2025. I'm 76 hrs in and just got to the Oshima Coast.

I'd like to play it some day. The first one did some fun things with the traditional ubi-world formula.

@TicklefistCP This is just the US. I'm pretty sure most of Shadows' sales came from the UK.

Talking worldwide, and using the most up to date — but not necessarily verified — information, Shadows sold 4.3 million in 6 months while Deliverance II sold >4 million in 9 months. I think it's reasonable to assume, then, that Shadows has sold more globally than Deliverance II. That's despite Deliverance II charting here.

Does that make it more profitable? I don't know. Does that make it a success per se? I don't know. Was it really annoying for me to find this information, and more annoying yet that it's partially unconfirmed and fairly vague? God yes.

Translation: If a company says a game's successful, just take their word for it. You will not find enough information to make any real conclusion to the contrary. Case in point, according to Take-Two and Capcom, respectively, Borderlands 4 and Monster Hunter Wilds fell short of expectations.

@TicklefistCP Ubisoft withdrew from the digital data sharing scheme. Assassins Creed Shadows was 2nd for the year up to that point.

I’m happy for Ghost of Yotei, Silent Hill F and Helldivers 2. All three are games I’ve had a lot of fun with.

I’m not a competitive multiplayer guy anymore, but Battlefield’s more grounded world/outfits seen to be what many estranged CoD fans are looking for. This might be the start of an intense Overwatch vs Marvel Rivals type rivalry.

Even more impressive given the relatively short period of time it's been out for compared to SOME of these games. I'm pretty sure it's a given that games like GoY continue to sell well, even months after launch. Its going to make them a LOT of money on a very modest budget.

Nice to see MH Wilds make top 3. Sweet graphics and even sweeter animations. Can't stop playing. MH is just so much fun.

@DennisReynolds The game is amazing. People who diss a game from the start because of how a main character looks are just hate spewers. People these days seem to thrive on Drama, hate and even violence.

This is why I have no doubt Intergalactic is going to be another epic benchmark naughty dog game regardless of how the protagonist is cast

Great game and well-deserved success... and the fact that it wasn't among the 6 TGA nominees doesn't change that.

I hope there's DLC, I'd like to see an ambitious expansion from Sucker Punch on the level of what CDPR usually does with their games... that map still has a lot to explore on the right side and Atsu as a character still has a lot of potential.

@3Above Nothing against Expedition 33, but yotei craps all over that game IMO. So many great games this year. In world where it didn't release in the same year as Expedition, Death Stranding 2, KCD2 and Silksong, this would win GOTY honors easy. There would be an uprising if they gave it to yotei over any of these games, esp. Expedition. That's everyones critical darling this year.

It’s simply an amazing game and I’m happy with every award and sales milestone they can achieve with it.
One of my biggest ps5 highlights so far this game.

@SeaDaVie Yeah it's dissapointing but as expected since DS 2 is a pretty niche-out of norm game. Some analyst predicted it sold 1.4 mill copies in June. So, it could have long legs and maybe reach 2-3 mill copies in a year.

@StitchJones Intergalactic will be huge as ND games always are. The haters are always a small minority.

@Reyzore Yes i did and I thought it was a great game. Loved the premise, the narrative, the art direction. But its seems like you needed to ask cause you can't figure how I think Yotei craps all over Expedition. We all have different tastes.

For my taste, no turn based game on the planet will trump a 3rd person action adventure like Yotei or DS2. I was the biggest final fantasy 7 fanboy back when that OG came out on ps1 and still prefer most games over turn based. So like I said, we all have diff tastes

@DennisReynolds True it makes me sick though how many people with podcasts all over youtube had to crrap on the game and ND. Calling them every slur in the book over something as trivial as to how the protagonist looks, the very night of the GA's after the first trailer dropped. ND hate has become a thing and its gross. Did you watch Grounded 2: the making of TLOU2?

The actress that played abby was getting death threats towards her and her son who was a toddler at the time. I mean WTF man???? So heinous and over a video game. Society is so sad at times

@StitchJones I asked if you had played them simply because I see a lot of people on the internet talking about and comparing games they haven't even played... and that irritates me quite a bit. If you've played both, great, there should be more like you.

The only thing that irritates me a little regarding Exp33 is that it's in award categories it shouldn't be in...

@Reyzore I got you. I respect your outlook here. And yes, I agree, everyone spews alot of hate towards things for no reason as it is. Couple that with the fact that they do it before playing a game, which is your point, and I agree that it makes it even more cringey.

@StitchJones Yes, the situation with The Last of Us Part 2 was unbelievable...it's true it had a "happy ending" because it sold a lot and won many awards. But the situation with Laura Bailey and others was disgusting...The Last of Us Part 2 proves that the gaming community lacks a lot of maturity.

So many "content creators" who live off these woke controversies, sexualized characters, etc., etc...

These people are doing so much harm to the industry.

And the saddest thing is that these people have many followers/views. What worries me is whether these groups are gaining enough traction to harm the games...I hope they remain just noise.

Unfortunately, Intergalactic is already in the crosshairs of these internet idiots...it won't be an easy journey.

@Reyzore Well said, everything you pointed out. Its impossible to to truly gauge the traction the haters are getting indeed. Mostly because being a keyboard warrior has been a thing since social media was born. These people have their real world personas and their online personas. I don't know this for sure, but I truly believe this. I believe that these people spewing hate, esp the podcast owners, do it for clicks, likes and sheer shock and awe factor.

And in the end, even though they are calling the game/character/dev slurs, they are buying and playing the game and probably think its amazing just like you and me. Again, don't know this for sure, but just a hunch I'd bet $$$ on.

Because talking nice about things don't work in this day and age for alot of people. Spewing hate and negativity, being edgy with your words and flying off the cuff seems to be what people want to follow.

As far as TLOU2 goes, I thought the game was a phenom like TLOU1. ND are pure magicians to me, esp when it comes to narrative and making the player truly care about every big and little character that enters the screen. I mean this has got to be fact, because if nobody got so uber attached to Joel, then his story arc wouldn't have been controversial like it was lmao

Assassin’s Creed Shadows didn’t even make the top 20, despite being multiplatform and released in March. I had fun with it but eventually dropped out, Yotei is much better in almost everything.

It’s insane that this can be true and the game is still failing. The entire industry needs to slash budgets across the board.

I am curious what the ranking would actually be if Nintendo's digital sales were added. I suspect DK Banaza, Mario Kart World, and Pokémon Legends Z-A would easily make the top 10 and maybe even the top 5.

Death stranding 2 is not doing great is it. What a tragedy as it’s superb and so much better than the first game. Try it out people please you won’t be disappointed

@Nepp67 The best kind of game where you want to explore i had the same with the first Horizon finding the collectables for the backstory and the best thing nothing was locked off you could always go back and find them. Its also one of.the few games i player without w guide.
