The difference is that while Sony initially failed with the PS3 and eventually turned it around, Microsoft failed with the Xbox One and never truly recovered, Nintendo will get away with it Scott free, no one will meaningfully criticize them, and the game industry will be all the worse for it.
I haven't started it yet. I was going to start last week, but my copy arrived a day too late and I started playing AI Limit instead. I'll start as soon as I finish that.
For a game that sets out to make you build a connection with your weapon, it at least makes sense on paper. Whether or not it works in practice, we'll have to wait and see.
All I see with the Switch 2 is Nintendo completing their transition to a full blown AAA company, and I don't mean that as a compliment. The difference is everyone in games media is too scared to really call them out for it.
If the Switch felt like a console born out of inspiration, the Switch 2 feels like a console born out of obligation. It exists so Nintendo can keep up with the rest of the industry, which isn't a bad thing, but it hardly gives me anything to get excited about right now. I'm sure in a couple years it'll be pretty impressive, and that's when I might start caring about it.
This was the only thing that really caught my eye from the show. Knowing that it's multi-player focused means it's a no-buy from me. Pretty subpar showing from Nintendo.
I've been hooked on AI Limit since it came out. So far it's some of the most fun I've had with a Souls-like in quite a while. The controls feel great, it strikes a good balance between punishing and rewarding, and the whole thing feels very finely tuned. It might not be as polished as some of the biggest games in the genre, but it's pretty damn impressive from a first time developer.
One of the best to ever do it. I don't even think ot needs a sequel, just give us a more future-proof version and let it remain the classic that it is.
Looks like I'm sticking with AI Limit. I don't respect it to review any better, but i played both demos and that's the one that clicked with me.
Edit: Also, it feels having to even mention this, but saying 'you're wrong because someone else says it's good' isn't the sick burn you think it is. Everyone has their own opinion, and if different viewpoints bother, that's your problem.
Not yet. I'm glad the game turned out well, but this was always going to be, at best, a warm-up for Ghost of Yotei. I'm still more interested in this than pretty much any other AC game, but it's still a back burner game for me at the end of the day.
At that point they might as well just stick with publishing. I'm pretty sure Microsoft dug this hole for Xbox themselves by constantly muddling their own vision for it.
I took a break from Dynasty Warriors Origins because it wasn't pulling me in, but I made it over the hump, and now I can safely say, this game is peak. I can't stop playing it.
Doesn't look like anything too special gameplay-wise, but the art direction is really doing it for me. It almost has a Lynchian feel to it's atmosphere.
Would you call an A.I. recreation of the Mona Lisa preservation? If the your answer is no, congratulations. You understand the difference between art and product.

Re: PS5 Players See Switch 2 as a Secondary Console, Not Direct Competition
The thing about being everyone's second choice is that it's EVERYONE'S second choice. That's a big part of what made the Switch so Successful.
Re: Open World Mecha Action Sequel Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion Boosts to PS5 in September

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Relegated to a Switch 2 Sizzle Reel
After this much hype,Team Cherry would have to be certifiably insane to make this a Switch 2 exclusive.
Re: Nintendo Copies the Astro Bot Concept, Sells You Switch 2's Tutorial
At this point, the most impressive thing about the Switch 2 is how much money Nintendo is trying to wring out of their customers.
Re: Nintendo Is Raising the Price of Games with Switch 2
The game is standard price on the E-Shop. But isn't it illegal to charge more for your game at competing retailers?

We could have gotten a Bleach Musou game. It didn't need to be like this.
Re: Japan Sales Charts: Assassin's Creed Shadows and Bleach: Rebirth of Souls Struggle on PS5
A couple years from now, people will be making some pretty long essays about how hard Bleach managed to fumble it's comeback.

Re: Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis System Created to Combat the Used Games Market
I remember trying to trade in my copy of Shadow of War only to he told it wasn't worth anything.
I don't know if that's related to this, I just wanted to mention it.

I'm always up for more God of War, but, has Jeff Grubb been right about anything? I swear this guy just say stuff to trend on Twitter for a minute.

That is pretty impressive. I'm sure I'll check it out for myself once Dynasty Warriors Origins stops being so fun.
Re: 12 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for March 2025 Announced
Being able to sream Prince of Persia on the Portal makes this month a win as far as I'm concerned.
Re: The First Berserker: Khazan Ready for PS5 Launch as Game Goes Gold
The demo did absolutely nothing for me so I'll be skipping this one, but I hope it turns out well.

Re: Xbox's Fable, Expected on PS5, Has Been Delayed to 2026
Can't say I was ever looking forward to this, certainly not enough to buy an Xbox, and that gameplay is painfully unimpressive.
I'm sure it'll be fine, but Xbox has to get out of 'fine' territory someday to get me to care
Re: Some Monster Hunter Wilds Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over the Game Being 'Too Easy'
